I leave cat food here in El Paseo outside their door. They are located in Petco. I never see them open but I know they did great adoption work. The Humane Society is the best! They do pick up pet items and use them for the needy animals and they appreciate your donations. Update: I was told the Humane society is closed at this time but they do pick up all donations if you leave them by their door in Petco. They also hold special events there for adoption.

Always been super helpful and a great place to find adoptable animals. My partner and I actually took home a puppy from the HSSV and he's been my best friend! Would definitely recommend to someone looking to either foster/train/or permanently take home a loving animal.

Their new kitten match program is awesome. Waited weeks for another program to tell us the kitten we were interested in was adopted. Used kitten match on Monday picked up our sweet kitten on Sunday. Thank you so much for our sweet Oreo. (Chuck)

Great place if you want a furry friend! The staffs and volunteers are friendly and helpful. It looks like the animals are being taken good care of. I would go again if I wanna adopt a pet.

I went to donate and the woman at the front desk was pretty rude. It gave off a mean vibe. You would think they would be nicer or atleast smile at someone thats going out of their way to drive really far to this place taking time out of their dsy just to donate. Dissapointing. Im from SF and the SPCA is much more friendly and way better service.

Beautiful facility, looks like a campus and very clean. I wish I could adopt all the dogs there. The dog rooms are suitable not small like lil doggie Apts.

I must say I agree with the comment below, the experience is based on who you interact with. The volunteers, especially the older ones, and one in particular can be very curt and judgemental. They only want to help people who are there to buy cats, which makes the rest of us feel unwelcome. The staff members usually make the experience better, especially the girl with the orange-ish hair. She is the reason we continue to visit though we are not in a situation where we can have a pet. She makes us feel welcome and she takes the time to talk to my son who has communication challenges. It means the world to him.

I have been there many times. Once, our Husky ran away in Sunnyvale and we went to Milpitas shelter to look for him. NOTHING.Shortly afterwards, we went there again for a neighbor's missing cat . No cat BUT there was our Husky! And they told us he had been there for NINE DAYS...that meant he had been there when we first went to look for him!!! Then I remembered that some cages had a curtain as though the animal were sick....No! perhaps a ploy to stretch out the cost...When I protested, I was told I had to pay FULL PRICE FOR NINE DAYS. Even though I should only have had to pay for one day ...had to register my my complaint with Corporate or some obscure entity in Sunnyvale...R

Staff are really helpful and the selection of animals to adopt isn't too much but just about right. Ask about other animals they have that might be in a foster home.
