Really small Japanese market. The whole market is so old. The shopping experience was not good. The price of lots of products here is higher than in Tokyo's central market.

Good old small Mitsuwa Market place at San Gabriel location next to Carls Jr fast food restaurant. The food, snacks beverages & anime goods were expensive some items are cheaper than I expected. Not as big as other Mitsuwas some items are pretty much sold out some items aren’t. checkouts are available only; unfortunately no self checkouts. I like this location a lot. Easy to find items enjoy shopping then pick up the simbun (newspapers) go home & enjoy eating food, snacks & beverages. Just great.

A far cry compared to other Mitsuwas. This one is small, old, and some items are pretty much sold out

Great supermarket for all your Japanese food product needs in the San Gabriel Valley. Bentō take out, Sakè (sah keh), Shōchū, beer, packaged snacks, meats, veggies, fruits, etc. They even have a small section for basic Japanese beauty & skin care.

Certain items are not always in stock so if you want a particular snack it’s a hit or miss. Also, they do get crowded during certain periods and the parking is cramped. Items are generally more expensive since some of them are imported.

It's a bit smaller than some other Mitsuwa locations but it has a nice selection of Japanese products. The fresh bakery goods are really good. I recommend the melon pan and cream pan! Really soft and just right amount of sweetness. My family also really like the seaweed crisps in the snack isle. The staff are polite and always greet us with a nice smile.

Food options are getting less and less. If you come at around 6pm, most meat and sashimi are gone. All staff work at the place are rude and not helpful. It's sad as I have been coming to this market for 30 years!

Very helpful staff , wide selection of different items that you can choose from for lunch / to go in their refrigerator section, the salmon sashimi is nicely packed & reasonably priced... highly recommend 👌

They sell fresh Obanyaki know with 3 flavors: Green tea, custard and red bean, but Custard is still the best one for me.

Having lived in Japan for a year, I came here excitedly! I was very pleased to see everything but I’m not sure if it’s because of covid-19 and the logistical disruption but there was barely any stock of anything. The stuff seems to come from Japan (as in imported) so the prices are extortionate. You pay about 3x what you would in Tokyo but I understand completely. I just think 3x is a little cray. But it was nice to be reminded of my time in Japan, and seeing all of these things were nice. I’d skip the produce and get the dried food. The vegetarian gyoza is delicious here!! (In the frozen section).

Very, very good selection of japanese grocery. They have a lot of items that you do not see in regular groceries and some that are just better. Very high quality of fish and meat. They also have bento boxes and nigiris. Prices are a bit on a higher side but the quality is amazing.

The best Japanese grocery store in the area! Everything from produces to snacks, what they have are fresh and high-quality😺Here’s my favorites:- In the veggie section, I appreciate Nasu, Shiso, and Gobo which are hard to get- Variety of Natto is fantastic!- Whole bunch of soy sauce and seasonings- Jagabee is like chips, but it looks like French fries. Popular in Japan👍🏼- Frozen Yoshinoya beef bowl has an inventive packaging which vents steam while heating in microwave. Genius🤯One note. Their Hamadaya bread is really good🍞, but usually runs out by the evening. Get there early if you want it.

Seems like a solid japanese marketplace. Was able to find the Choya sparkling plum wine I wanted, which I could not find in other Asian markets. Here's some photos of the alcohol for anyone interested haha...

Love Mitsuwa Markets. Great market to get fresh grade sashimi meats. The only downside is that the market is 4× smaller than your normal Mitsuwa Markets. Overall still good.

While smaller than many mitsuwa stores I've been to let me tell you this story is jam-packed with everything you could possibly need just be aware you might want to get there early for the vegetables or the fresh made items like the hamada ya bakery or the onigiri rice balls they sell fast older store but we'll maintained and over all a great stock of japanese favorites parking is a bit challenging as there is honestly not a lot of room to park but as people come and go quickly from the store I had no issues finding a spot although just a few were there might be tough for larger vehicles also and while it's been over a year since I have been to the larger Japanese grocery chains and smaller ones the prices do seem a bit higher here but that could also just be due to the coronavirus pandemic issue I would happily return to the store and shop again the staff and cashier and Patreons we're all polite and helpful

The best Asian Market ever, you can find whatever you need. The parking lot isn’t that big but you will definitely have somewhere to park as a turnover is fast!

Great place to pick up Japanese food and products without having to go to Little Tokyo downtown.I feel safer here than at most stores because they do restrict number of people and I see people wear their masks properly in here. And as always, the store is kept clean and you see the employees cleaning.

I love this place almost as much as a hate Covid. I think it’s smaller than some of the other J- supermarkets but I’m not willing to go downtown at the moment, and I certainly am not going to have my elderly parents run around town searching for mochi. I took a gamble and thought it would be less crowded here than other places.I really appreciate how they are keeping the staff and patrons safe by limiting capacity to 15 people inside. That being said, bring a book, layer up, and bring an umbrella because it can get sunny/cold/ boring. I think I waited maybe 35-40 min to get inside, around 11:30am? I felt kind of bad for some of the senior patrons waiting for so long, but I believe they do have senior hours on Saturday.I went to go pick up stuff for ozoni soup for Japanese New Years, and was surprisingly pleased to find fresh mochi still available. I’m pretty sure it wasn’t frozen and then thawed, so I grabbed a few packs and some kamoboko from the freezer and called it a day. I heard the J-stores in West LA were sold out since the weekend, so was happy to find the items I was looking for.Thank you!

Didn’t have too much here this week and canned Tuna that is normally $6.99 for 3 pack is now $8.39 for 3 pack. Was looking for Japanese pancake mix but they did not have any in stock.

Not as clean nor organized as the one that used to be in Little Tokyo. But you still find good products.

Always here for nice, affordable and fresh convenience food for breakfast and sometimes lunch too.The staff here is friendly and helpful. Some of merchandise is kinda expensive but you can’t find this elsewhere so it’s worth the price.

This market is very tiny compared with all the larger Mitsuwa stores. And they don't have the 6pm half price sushi special. They told me it was up to the manager's mood that day. Seriously?!

I was there to buy orange juice today, I ask one of the lady do you have more of this, I ask very nicely could you help me check? I said I would like to buy more. She gave me attitude and go check and come back blame on me saying I already bought the last of it, why I ask to buy more? This is nonsense and make me feel very angry. There are no limit on how many I can buy for this product, as long as I can afford I can buy as many as I can, she just feel very angry on me buying all of the juice, which is only 5. If you don’t want customers to get all of it, then set limit for it or tell me nicely!!! What a bad attitude bad service!!! Never come again.

Was extremely excited to come here as I haven’t been to a Japanese marketplace in a couple of years. Came close to opening and was on a mission for the onigiri. I got two and I had such high hopes. But was ultimately disappointed. Little to no filling in both the spicy tuna, and tuna mayo onigiris. It’s doable in a pinch. Thankful it’s there tho.
