This Safeway is an embattled lynchpin of the neighborhood. The good coffee is behind a locked case, the good laundry soap is behind a locked case, the good liquor is behind a locked case, there are new gates at every egress point to defend against the routine shoplifting raids that plague the city. Their produce routinely molds and expires quickly after purchase. But- if they weren’t there, I’d have to travel much further to buy the rest of my groceries over at whole paycheck. Hopefully the new gates help cut the shrink down and they’ll loosen up their grip so I don’t need a store assistant to follow me around unlocking stuff and then forget which lane it was stashed at when I get home and find it missing.

Why is it every time I’m here there is only one regular line open and a line of shoppers waiting down the isles… so frustrating for this neighborhood. Not staff, poor management.

Three times I walked away from the deli counter after waited a period of time. The workers were slow and seem uncaring. They seem to do anything else but served customers. Chit chatting seem to be their number one job.

The Safeway on San Ramon Valley Blvd. in San Ramon is well stocked and has good produce. The organization takes a little getting used to. If you are going to shop at Safeway regularly, get the app on your phone. I saved 32% (almost $28) on my shopping, because of the app.

Stopped in for some snacks and soup fixings as we have some guests visiting for Halloween and ended up spending $125. Place ain't cheap. It's a unionized grocer though so the staff has benefits and can make a decent living so I'll gladly pay the extra bit to know they're being taken care of. There's a large free parking lot in the roof with an elevator and stairs down to the store. Good quality produce and well organized, clean place

Avoid, theres always long lines. Even at the deli and self checkout line. Also I noted one of the checkout staff visibly coughing. Luckily she was wearing a mask but still she should have stayed home.Also what is the point of self checkout if you always keep it closed.

By far the worst grocery store in the area.- Everything is always under lock and key- I once watched an employee get shoved into a cabinet while thieves robbed liquor, and the security guard just watched.- They are now making their cashiers enter in positive reviews on the card reader on your behalf without consent.

The best thing about this location is the large parking area on the roof!Take the elevator down to the store level, and you are immediately inside the store.It is super easy and convenient to take your cart back to your vehicle. The oversized elevator is perfect for multiple full-size carts, with enough space to turn around.

Safeway used to be my favorite place for groceries. Now it seems like they no longer care about customers. They have just a few cashiers open so be prepared to wait in lines, their prices are no longer affordable and lots of their beauty products are locked (at least in San Francisco) so good luck waiting for someone to unlock the deodorants for you.

This has to be one of the most dystopian shopping experiences on the face of the earth. You walk in from a sidewalk piled high with trash adjacent to a pitted and uneven street to see security guards, surveillance cameras, and plate glass in every aisle. Does the calendar read 1984, because this Safeway had a distinctly Orwellian vibe in all it's negative senses

Absolutely terrible Safeway, avoid if you can. Awful customer service. Every time I come here there are too few Cashiers. Lines are always merging into the aisles so that everyone always feels in each other's way. Employees will tell you to use the self-service but you can't purchase beer and/or wine there so that doesn't always help. And when asking someone where things are, they are rude, flippant, and don't invest interest. You feel almost like you are inconveniencing the employees. I've also had someone say, "I don't know, go look" when asked for a certain product. Lines take so long that a "quick trip" to the store can take up to 40 minutes. Go to literally any other store if you can. You'll be glad you did.

The front end manager whose name was Leah was very unpleasant and unprofessional. My wife and I needed her assistance and she was on the phone with who knows who and the line we were in was long and the only register opened but that didn't seem to matter to this manager! She didn't want to be bothered with helping us at all and she obviously is bringing a bad name to your store! You should maybe think about replacing her! 😔

First I would like to say the staff are pleasant, Many times I am there I see young men and women together there and shop lifting and they are taking a lot and laughing going out waiting for staff to do something so they can litigate. This is upsetting to see and I'm sure staff feel the same way. However the reason for my feedback is that This safeway is my neighborhood grocery store and I come and just want to get in and out. Unfortunately there has been a few times when I had to return items because they are expired. Well, I was out of coffee creamer 2 days ago and my mornings have been sad because I have not had my morning coffee! So I did a stop on my way home to safeway to get my creamer and a few other things. I get home and was excited to make myself a coffee and I opened it up and poured the creamer into my coffee and chuncks were coming out. I could not believe it, I checked checked the date on the creamer and it was expired last month. I bought my wife some Colby jack n cheddar sticks as a surprise cause she loves her cheese and she decided to check her surprise because of what happened to me and the cheese sticks were also expired. I don't always have time to check dates, why isn't someone checking dates ?

I'm 71 years old, and I gave this place 1 star only so I could write my review. The employees here don't seem to care for Latin Americans! They're so rude to me! They're allowed to raise their voice, with attitude, at me! All I did was ask for was help reaching a small carton of Clover heavy cream, on the very top shelf, that was set back a couple of inches! I'm only 5' 2"! I directed my plea for help to a man in the meat department, who was out from behind the counter. He wasn't wearing a name tag so I gave this description of him: He was wearing a long red apron, he was Chinese, and he was really really RUDE! He even threw a verbal profanity at me after I told him he was rude! !Where's all the mythical Respect for Your Elders the Chinese community always says they practice??.It doesn't extend to Latinos?

People steal from this store all the time. There are homeless and bums stealing food and alcohol almost every time I shop there. When notifying the staff about someone stealing, the staff would not do anything about it because they said they would get fire.You may wonder why that bothers me? Yes it does because the bums would eat and drink the merchandises in the store. I've seen the bums drinking the soup from the kettle. That's why SW stops selling them.

Bright and open, easy to locate items by aisle. Premade food or made to order from the deli is great for a quick lunch or a picnic at the park nearby.Delivery and pick up available through the Safeway app.

Best Safeway out of all the Richmond and Sunset district Safeways. It's huge, always stocked , tons of parking and ALWAYS enough check out stands open!!!!!!! I live half a block from that poor excuse of a Safeway on Noriega street , I drive the extra 1.5 mi.es to this Safeway because it's worth it to be able to pull right up to a parking spot run and get what you need because they keep their shelves stocked andc not stand in a huge line to get out.

I'm not particularly fond of this store because it's smallish and feels a little cramped. I also noticed the customers have an almost non-existent sense of body space. However, it does have a nice ample roof parking. I only come here to get money out of the ATM. I don't come to this store to shop.

This is the worst Safeway in town. If you have an animal support they will make you leave it at the door. I was coming to pick up my medicines and they wouldn’t allow me to get in the store. It was the worst experience, the guard started yelling at me. Never buying anything else here. D they don’t have the proper sign in the parking so I couldn’t now this stupid rule. Is like… instead of yell to homeless robbing the store she has to make me look bad, sad and humiliate me.

Produce is variable quality. Sometimes it is great, sometimes you buy a bag of grapes that are all rotten days before the sell-by date. Staff are generally unfriendly and unhelpful, with a few notable examples. The store is small crowded and poorly laid out.
