I have visited many pet stores, including Petco, but this location at Mira Mesa Blvd has a Knowledgeable staff compared to other locations. I want to compliment Eric because his love for pets and knowledge about pet food are outstanding. Just because of Eric, I’ve been buying pet food and treats for a year from this particular location.If in any doubt ask for Eric at Petco at Mira Mesa Blvd store.

Dog friendly of course lolThey're always well stocked. Lately I feel like every time we come in they have cats, which is fun if you like cats.We did some puppy training courses here a while ago and they were very good.

I just found out they sell live mouse as feeders for reptiles. I used to go to this store all the time for grooming, for dog and cat food/treats. It is not okay to blatantly sell live mice that can also be someone else’s pet. I, along with my friends that go to this store, will be taking our business to Petsmart as they do not engage in the practice of selling live mammals for food.I feel like majority of people are unaware of this fact and would find it shocking if they knew, so I want to put this out there.

Fish section no one around to help most of the time .Don't get guy with a beard for help. He have no idea what size koi fish should be asking another associate but randomly trying to sell a 3 inch at a 6 inch koi price point trying to rip off people bad for business. I had to pass and go to another pet store.

Your POS system didn’t accept my Zoetis Mastercard. It kept declining my card when money was available on the card.Your POS system didn’t give me Reward Points on my Petco app. As a matter of fact, I rarely get Reward Points even after entering my phone # on your keypad

Petco Grooming Dept in Del Mar, CA has terrible customer service and needs to hire a friendlier staff to take calls and answer questions knowledgably. They are very short and not helpful at all. I will not be returning and will be letting my friends and family know about my experience.

Took my dog to petco in rancho san diego. Celina is amazing. My dog had no problems with Celina. Then took my dog to petco in Mira Mesa and they said he was difficult. My dog got a bath and partial cut. They refused to finish the rest of the cut and then charged me $76 for it! Are you kidding me! Would not recommend this place for grooming needs. Now I have to go home to finish his cut ( legs, feet, face fanny). Do his nails, and teeth. What did I just pay for? No bath and body cut is worth $75.

I just had a TERRIBLE experience trying to get my dogs groomed here. I recently got my dogs' vaccines up to date, and I had all of the required documentation with me. All documents were properly signed by the vet. I've been coming here for seven years and I've never had issues with documentation, so I thought everything was fine. When I arrived, they proceeded to tell me these documents did not comply with their new company policy regarding vaccines. Upon scheduling, I was NOT informed of these new policies. How are customers supposed to know about these policy changes if you do not inform them properly beforehand?When they told me the documents were not compliant, I tried everything I could. I called the vet, attempted to get email confirmations, but Petco refused to accept the verified documentation. They also did not even try to help me out. The receptionist told me she did not know if the vaccines my dogs got were legit (they were given at Kahoots, and all documentation was signed by a vet). I proceeded to call the Kahoots vet and gave the receptionist the phone, and the receptionist rolled her eyes at me, annoyed at my attempt to solve the issue. After calling the vet again, they simply told me they would no longer be accepting me and my dogs as clients, and that I was being unreasonable... I then proceeded to get yelled at. Clients are not unreasonable for trying to solve a problem that was created by a lack of proper communication on YOUR part. Do not come here.

Worst when it comes to aquatic section. Being a regular customer here i only had 1 good experience and rest all the time either they conduct an interview about your tank set up before packing your fish or just simply put up the sign saying fish is under observation.(4/5 times fish under observation sign is on ). There are few helpful and kind sales person but unfortunately few rude people bring down this place reputation. Hope the management takes proper action to rectify this

Always the friendliest workers and you can bring the puppets in for treats. They have a stations to clean up after your dog if they have an accident in the store

Staff doesn’t know how to work with nor approach pets appropriately and instead insists on drugging them rather than fixing their own issues! Instead of scolding someone on how a puppy should be trained , this staff need RETRAINING themselves on how to keep pets calm and comfortable during vet visits and how to have respect for customers. By far the most unprofessional staff in all of petco locations

Don't waste your time trying to get your dog groomed here!On my first walk-in attempt, the grooming department was closed even though it said they were open online. An associate told me the groomers leave early if there are no appointments are booked. Then I couldn't book the services I wanted online and was recommended to walk-in instead. Next I tried calling them on two separate days but no one answered each time. On my final walk-in attempt, the groomer told me she couldn't fit me in until the end of the day and they didn't have any openings on the next day. Clearly they don't value their customers. Take your business elsewhere!

We went to this location with my dog for an emergency. Turns out my furry friend had a serious ear infection and was in a lot of pain.We were able to schedule an appointment the same day we noticed the swelling around his ears. The doctor was very nice, patient and knowledgeable. Our dog is a 75 pound animal, but his lack of cooperation did not faze the doctor. He knew exactly what needed to be done to help my pet. Also the doctor took his time to explain how to prevent ears from getting infected.It’s the day after we went to Vetco for help, and my boy played with my friend’s dog for the first time today. The swelling got much better and Atlas is wagging his tail all day today. I’m very grateful for this experience and for the help the team at this location was able to provide.Thank you🙏

The groomer Nikki decided that I was supposed to know about THEIR COMPANY policy change even though I received NO NOTIFICATION prior to a grooming appointment. When I complained, some nobody from that store decided to call my mother and tell HER that she was stupid and needed BRAINCELLS TO READ THE EMAIL THEY NEVER SENT. I then called corporate to tell them what happened and was promised a follow up. It’s been over a week and it’s obvious they are covering it up. Apparently it IS company policy to treat customers with absolute contempt and gaslight customers that are non-white. I have no idea how anyone can give this company any higher than a 1 star for their disgusting behavior.

I really appreciated the girls at this store grooming service they were both very helpful. The place felt very warm and inviting for me and my Canela, I will be back. Thank you so much for the crew the cashier was very friendly as well and talkative. I am a shy person he brought me out of it.

Definitely the most expensive place to go shopping for anything pet related. On average, they charge about 40%-60% more than anywhere else I shop. Petco certainly has the most expensive crickets in the world. At petco, you get 5 crickets for a dollar. At lllreptile, you get 20 crickets for a dollar. I drive 15 miles to lllreptile to get crickets even though petco is literally 1 mile away. Petco's crickets are 17 cents each and lllreptile's crickets are a nickel each. Yes they're further, but do the math and that's a few bucks saved, even with today's gas prices. The interview for buying fish is a joke. Some of us have been in the hobby longer than petco has been around, and some of us have fish older than the people working there. Point is, not everybody needs the 21 questions interview. Even after telling them you know what your doing they persist, and I walk out cause they're completely annoying and telling false information to myself and other customers. Half the staff is a rediculous joke, they're very young and think they know everything about every pet. The fact is nobody does. I have more pets than petco offers for sale in store, and being a vet tech, I certainly don't know everything about every pet. I've been a member of petco for over 21 years, and sadly, they're pricing has sky rocketed (way before inflation) and customers service that knows they're stuff has gone down the drain.

This is a much smaller Petco than I'm used to, but I shop here pretty often because it's the closest store to me. They seem to be well stocked and helpful for the most part. The store looks pretty organized too. The one thing that I do always notice is that they are understaffed. I've never seen more than one cashier even when the checkout line is really long, and that can get a bit annoying. I don't think I've ever seen an associate on the floor either aside from the cashier, so when you need help with something, you have to wait for a cashier.

Nice, knowledgeable, and helpful employees. Line can seem backed up at times but it moves fast. Ya may get behind some (good-hearted) unknowledgeable and talkative customer but I've never made it through a checkout "long" line without another checkout being opened. Most times I just walk right up.Always able to get in n outta there. Often needed and most definitely appreciated.👍
