Greeted by the few usual workers, wonderful people, and this store always has the food and treats I look forward to purchasing in stock. The night of New Year’s Day, I relied on this establishment’s specific location after taking a leap of faith, knowing the one off Friars Road closed early. Not to my expectations, but in following faith, I discovered on my arrival they were open. I gladly leaped into the store to purchase the food my babies needed.This location is the most reliable from my experience if you’re heading west towards beaches, or anywhere close to Clairemont West. It is worth the drive.

I would like to start off by asking why corporate hasn’t done something about the staff here. I was in the store today to buy some fish for my kids. We never were asked if we needed help or greeted. After looking at the selection I went to go look for help and asked Josh for assistance. Right away his attitude was disrespectful and unprofessional. I was there to buy the whole set up but walked out in complete disgust because of the treatment by this employee. You would think a company like this would invest in training. Go elsewhere plenty of other mom and pop shops that treat you like family.

Now I know. This is where not to go! Couldn't get a refund or exchange WITH my receipt due to being over 60 days. I went to the other Smart store first to return it. But my receipt said Petco! So now my new motto is: don't go...to Petco!

Nice Petco store in Clairemont that I like coming to on Wednesday after picking up comic books in the area. The staff is friendly and the selection is decent for dogs. There's a small grass area in front for pets to do their business, which also has bags available for waste pick up.

The manager was able to get my dog in right away for a bath. My 95 lb Doberman usually has anxiety without me but did amazing with the care of this grooming team here. I highly recommend and will be a repeat customer. Thank you soo much 🙏🙏🐾🐾🐾

As a long-time customer of Petco on Clairemont Mesa Blvd, I am deeply disheartened to share my latest, very negative experience. I have been taking my puppy there for grooming services for years, but my most recent visit was extremely upsetting. During a routine bath and nail trimming session, I explicitly instructed the groomer – who was new and on their first day – not to trim the nails too short, especially the dewclaw. Unfortunately, my instructions were ignored, resulting in the dewclaw being cut excessively short, causing my puppy severe pain, bleeding, and difficulty in walking.To add to the distress, I was unexpectedly charged an additional $20 for using unscented products, a request I had made numerous times before without any extra cost. The response from the staff when I raised these issues was equally disappointing, with them arguing for full payment despite their employee's mistake.This experience, contrasting sharply with the satisfactory service I received over the years, was not only traumatic for my puppy but also for me. The lack of professional pet care and customer service on this occasion suggests a dire need for improvement at this location. I advise other pet owners to approach this Petco with caution or consider alternative grooming services to avoid similar experiences.

The VETCO closed early. The said they were closed and that the vet had already left. I texted when I arrived in the parking lot for my pets appointment within 5 minutes of my appointment time. No one texted me back so after 5 minutes I walked into the PETCO and they told me the doctor had just walked out because they were “actually already closed”

This place used to be great pre covid. A lot of variety and let's to buy. I would go and check out their large variety of fish, reptiles and other small pets as well as buy supplies. Since covid their selection have gone down and their prices have gone up. Their are so many more and better places you can go to get pey food supplies both online and locally (try pet kingdom!!)

The store looked disheveled and not a lot of merchandise in stock (at least for what I needed). The associate apologized for not having what I needed and did call another store to locate the correct size, but the store was pretty far away. I do appreciate his efforts!

Another great location! Good stocking and well kept animals and fish. Usually has what you need! And they sell single crickets so unlike the lemon grove location you aren’t forced to buy a minimum of 40! I’ll keep coming back to clairemont !

Why is Petco a great pet store? Simple - if your pet does not like the pet food or toy you just bought, Petco will accept the return many days later without giving you grief as oppose to other stores, including Amazon.

Today, I went to PETCO to get my Beta Angel, a filter, a water conditioner, and a thermostat. While there, I met Francisco, who was a new employee who was really knowledgeable and personable about all things, Beta! He was able to advise me on alternatives on filters for my fish tank since the filter I needed was not available. This was the best experience and chat I have ever had about Betas ever!

Walked in and immediately greeted by the cashier. This is pretty standard from every Petco store. I felt very welcome. I probably didn't come at the right time since I visited the store on Christmas Eve. The line was pretty long and, needless to say, the customers in line we're pretty impatient, including myself. I had some problem with my Petco membership on file when I punched in my phone number, which held up the line. Otherwise, given that it was the day before Christmas, the store was pretty clean. Some of the sale items weren't available anymore, but then again I'm here last minute before Christmas. I came to shop for a dog sweater, but I couldn't find the right one. Most of the sweaters were gone. *Sad face. Overall, it was still a good experience. Bonus: I got to meet Zirah, one of the cats up for adoption! Super friendly and socialized cat! Came right up to greet you just like a Petco staff!!! Someone please bring her home!

My dog did not like this. I had gotten another version online that was much more expensive that she did tolerate but she would not drink her water with this one that I got from petco. But I do have a picky little dog. And Petco is not taking in-store returns right now. But they tell me that once they are able to take them again, I can bring it in and I don't need the receipt because they have a record of it with my pals number that I always enter. My phone number. So that's convenient. And, as a side note, this store's bathroom is not open to customers. Kind of a pain.

Older style store that could use a good renovation like newly renovated Petcos. Overall an OK store to go to & my second faborite next to the one on Sports Arena.The staffing is friendly & definitely tries their hardest to make sure you get the right items for your pet.Sometimes the specific product I wany is out of stock for awhile but I can't particularly blame them for it. I can understand how difficult the supply chain can be. However they usually have a decent temporary replacement I can use. (I have 2 rats & 1 cat who feeds specificallu on the Whole Hearted urinary support cat food.)

Great place to take your doggo for shopping or part of a field trip. Don't forget theat Petco does grooming for pets as well! I have used there services for years from Reptile care to dog grooming.

Been coming to this petco since I moved to Claremont, everyone that works here has been polite and helpful. I used to work for petco so I know their customer service standards are high. I have vital care and the petco credit card so I do exclusively buy my pet supplies at petco.Today I had to deal with some guy named Tyler at the register who had a lot of attitude, he was slamming the scanner and pressing all the buttons aggressively and was acting extremely condescending towards me. He also put $30 as a tip for the groomer when I said $3. That's a big difference like if you don't think you heard me correctly then ask or double check when I asked to return the money his attitude got worse and he very condescendingly said I'd get my $27 dollars back. By the way I have vital care and get free nail trim and teeth brushing for my dog multiple times a month it's a service that takes less than 10 minutes. groomers are awesome by the way !Back to my interaction with Tyler. I asked him if he was having a bad day to which he rudely responded "no, why? are you a mind reader?" i said "seems like you are" he said "well do you know me " and I said "no but I used to work at petco and I didn't treat customers this way" to what he responded "what way" and I said "attitude, you have a lot of attitude" I grabbed my cart said "have a good day" and headed out the store.Tyler if you're reading this, I don't know you and you don't know me so just because you're miserable doesn't mean you can take it out on the people who shop at the store you work at.

My dogs both ended up getting really bad skin infections after being groomed here. My Bernese lost whole chunks of hair all over her body. The employees were nice (to me at least) but I won’t be back because it took over a month of medication and treatment to get them to stop losing hair.
