I have been many places for plants and I always failed with planted tank. I was thinking, it’s my fault! I got my all plants from Petzone Convoy this time. My tank is only 3 months old and I did dry method. My plants are thriving without CO2.Pascal helped me a lot and other employees are very friendly and honest too. They helped me to pick correct plants which can survive without CO2 for my new aquarium. Amazing result. Will go this week for more plants.

Helpful staff!! I came in looking to purchase a couple of beta fish for my kids. One of the staff members, King was very helpful with letting me know what I needed to set up my tank. He walked us through how to acclimate our tank before we bring our fish home. I appreciate the fact that he didn’t just let us buy the fish the same day knowing we didn’t have a tank ready. He took the time to tell us how to properly care for our tank and how to keep our fish happy. We also had the opportunity to sit in on one of their aquascaping classes. If you have ever been curious on how they build the beautiful displays at the front of the store you won’t want to miss one of their classes. They go step by step so even a beginner would feel comfortable. We will be back!

I want to preface by saying that I've been in several times and 2 of the employees i've interacted with are really nice and helpful! I wanted to be honest about why i'm hesitant to return and provide feedback as someone who also works in customer service in a small business. The last time I was in, a gentleman with a corgi provided very unhelpful service. I had been a repeat customer and spent some good money previously and came in just to pick up a few snails and small items one day. He told me "most of them are dead" and his general attitude made me feel like he really did not want to help. So I just waited for another less unfriendly employee who helped me out. Despite the two friendly employees i've encountered, I think there could be an improvement in the customer service aspect. Just wanted to leave this feedback, I have started going to another store simply because I don't appreciate feeling like i'm bothering employees as a paying customer - thats what I've felt when I've come in the store. In my job I make an effort to be as friendly, helpful, and polite as possible even when i'm having a tough day!

I'm going to give these guys five stars. The owner and his employees are very knowledgeable and always very friendly. The prices are reasonable. And they are always very busy but take the time to help out their customers. I always visit this place when I come to San Diego.

This place took 3 weeks to contact me through emails. I purchased two Oscar’s , they sent me one . Employees didn’t give their real names , they lied and said they shipped my second Oscar . Then today they told me I would have to pay a second shipping fee ! I requested the owner to call me , but their answer was “ The owner is not available “ !!! Terrible online experience and terrible customer service !!!

Do not buy from here. I received 8 fish late. It was due over night, but because of weather it arrived 4 days late.They have not refunded me for my late items. Had to get PayPal involved. Still waiting on an outcomeI would’ve been satisfied with just my refund from my fish being dead. But they stopped responding to me. Got PayPal involved, and They thought PayPal was going to side with them. I received all of my money Back, including shipping.Thanks PayPal

Placed an order, after a week it still hadn't shipped. Sent an email, no response. Called a few days later and rep I spoke to said they'll contact me back with info on my order, never got that call. After a couple days tried to contact them back every day for a over week, they never answered the phone. Finally got my credit card company involved to refund the charge.

Run from this seller...I placed several orders before the holiday and PetZone told me two of the orders didn't have the shrimp I ordered in stock so I requested a refund for those two.Then when I asked for the refund after the holiday again and again, PetZone claimed they didn't receive the payments, even though I've already received the receipt for the successful payments from Stripe and sent PetZone as many as proof as I could to chase them to check their system to see if there was any bug.They insisted they didn't have the fund and refused to refund, while the money was already charged from my bank. Nearly $800 gone...And here is more, for the other orders that were actually shipped, when I received the package, many items were missing, and they completely ignored the instruction to ship later so I received the items while my second tank is still being cycled so I'm not sure how the fish will end up and I've no idea where i should put the new plant... Another $400 that might be gone soon...So, in short, run from this seller.....

Love this store! Recently started on my first planted tank, and Pet Zone Tropical Fish has been a huge help.Their tanks are beautiful, and they have a wide array of plants, fish and shrimp to admire. Also a great selection of tank maintenance products. The last time I went in I was helped by a gentleman Pascal(?) who took his time to ask about my tank and suggest plant species that would grow well in it. All of the plants I purchased are doing great! Sometimes you may have to wait a few minutes before you are helped because they are a smaller local shop and they get a lot of customers with a lot of questions, like me. But you won't notice because you'll be so busy perusing all of the aquascapes! The knowledgeable employees are worth a short wait anyway. Will definitely continue to come back on my fishkeeping journey.

I am pretty disappointed with my experience at Pet Zone Tropical Fish. I came in on Thursday to purchase 3 female and 3 male Endlers along with 3 White Cloud Minnows. One of the female Endler's died in less than 2-days from sunken belly parasite and a second female is showing lethargy and maybe infected as well. Instead of making it right, the shop quoted their 24-hour policy and had the audacity to suggest I purchase another fish for 20% off the original price - when they sold me sick fish. Not only did they not have any Endler females left to sell, but they wanted me to buy some guppies as a replacement. It is safe to say I won't be returning to this store to purchase any more fish and I will not recommend anyone else purchase fish from here, as their fish guarantee is a joke. Even Petco has a 7-day fish guarantee. Anyone looking for good quality healthy fish should probably look to Aquarium Fish Depot - where they actually provide good service and healthy quality fish. Steer clear of Pet Zone Tropical Fish.

Got my lovely little betta fish here!! They have a nice selection of fish and a good amount of space for supplies, plants, decor, etc. They also had very good prices and take as best care of the fish as possible. Take a look when you get the chance!

Petzone is my go-to fish store. I’ve purchased twice online and I’ve been to the store so many times and every time I’ve loved it. The personnel are very knowledgeable and always help me out. I’m a beginner first time pet fish owner and I must say, I’ve learned a lot from Petzone guys. Shout out to Pascal, Gerard & Sean for their awesome customer service! They went out of their way to give me a call when the fish I really really wanted was back in stock. And congrats to Roger for having a great neat store with healthy fish. Thank you guys

Do not purchase your Aquatic plants from this store online. I spent $99.31 on their plants and did not get my value, a total waste of money. I purchased Tropica Riccia, which was shown to be in stock Online. It was not and reached out to substitute for another plant. I seen no issue there and picked a different moss. The Moss they sent was Brown and completely dried up, a dead plant. Also I purchased specifically the brand "Tropica" Staurogyne Repens and they sent a different Brand. Also to top it off I purchased the Tropica Marsilea Hirsuta Tissue Culture and it came in Brown and dying as well just like the Moss. A terrible purchasing experience to say the least. I had to re purchase these plants from Ebay. So I lost money and plants from this store. If you value your time and value healthy aquarium Plants I strongly advise purchasing your plants online from somewhere else. All they would do would as far as customer service would just be a store credit for One plant, because that plant came open in my package. Terrible all the way around. What a shame and what a total let down. If you are in the Market for 1 2 Grow Tropica Stay Away ! They will switch that brand on you or worse yet send you the Tropica bands but Brown and dying.

I’m not a customer but came in here to watch the fishies. They have lots of cool little fishies! The glow fish were really cool but they were not for sale as they are the owners pets!They have lots of algae and plants for your aquarium. And they even had vampire crabs 🦀 (cute little sweet water red crabs that were hanging on the little plant)

Update review 2023I decided to give this place another chance, but they continue to be scammers. This time I ordered 3 large manzanita driftwood from their online store for 80$ with shipping. When the package arrive, it contained three thin sticks and a handful of broken tiny twigs. I have included a photo and size reference. I’ve been in the hobby long enough to know they are taking advantage of ppl and ripping ppl ok. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM ONLINE! You have been warn.(Previous review from 2020)this place is a scam. I ordered a UNS 60u natural wood finish fish tank cabinet in 1/2020. I was informed that the item was on back-order, which I was expecting due to the popularity of the cabinet. I waited until 4/2020 when I got an email and account update indicating that the item was shipped; however, there was no tracking or any other information available. Given this all happened during the COVID pandemic I was trying to be understanding and giving them plenty of time to sort out any issues. However, it has been an nightmare reaching anyone over the past 3 months. I have texted them multiple times and 95% i get no response, I tried calling and only able to get answering machine despite their recording saying that they are now open. The 5% of the time I am able to get a response via text, they've always said that they will contact me in "a few minutes" which always ends up being no response. Now for the past several weeks, they have completely stopped responding and have stolen my $300 with no product or update. I did try to give them benefit of the doubt given the pandemic, but this is unacceptable, they are basically scammers. Please think twice before buying from them, they will take your money and ship nothing!

My go-to place for aquascaping needs! This is the only store in SD that deals solely for aquascaping. The staff are friendly, knowledgable, and despite the store being so small, they have a lot of variety of things in stock. Don't forget to check out their aquascape workshops too! Very affordable, and a bargain for the deal!

Poor customer service for ill dying fish.Sadly a fish I bought was practically dead when I got home but two other fish were fine. I called within the same hour I bought and was told to just take a picture and come back. Came back the next day and the next day after for water test and was denied. The fish died the same day within an hour and I called within the hour. Not a fan of the “Customer is Wrong” approach. Would be fine if I didn’t call literally within an hour of taking it home. Sad. They can check their call log and their purchase history. Just bad faith customer service in play. Stay away.

Love this place. They have everything you need to set up a beautiful fresh water aquarium, especially if you want one that is on the smaller side. Shout out to Pow for his assistance in finding the perfect pieces for my tank, definitely look for him to help you start your first aquascape!
