The depth of gratitude I have for Dr.Dugan is immeasurable. In addition to returning my dogs to optimal health when they get sick, she has been there for my family in the most extraordinary way.When our senior dog Tyson was at the end of his life, Dr. Dugan showed up for us in a way that was compassionate and comforting. Her expertise helped us in the most difficult time and I will always be grateful.We are so lucky to have Papaya Veterinary Care in the area for keeping my dogs healthy and their appointments relatively stress-free.

My family first visited Papaya during the worst time, when our elderly cat was not able to care for herself any longer. It was a very difficult time for us, but everyone at Papaya was kind and considerate. We received excellent care and were able to enjoy a few more days with her before it was time to go. Papaya was with us at every step and made her last moments painless and comfortable. Thank you so much for all your care and we look forward to bringing our pets into Papaya again in the future during better times.

We take our 8 year old golden here and they always take their time with her to make her comfortable. They’ve done a comprehensive blood panel for her and explained each data point in detail so we could have a better understanding of her overall health as a senior dog. Additionally, they recommended a prescription for her arthritis that has significantly decreased her pain/stiffness and increased her mobility. We love seeing her renewed energy!

Dr. Dugan is an amazing veterinarian who has earned my respect and admiration. I am a proud parent of Becky, a 13-year-old rescued Great Dane, one of the nicest, sweetest dogs I have had the privilege to know. Becky is highly allergic and subject to arthritis or pain in her hips. Dr. Dugan guided me to the right dog foods and supplements in light of her age and allergies. She or her office responds promptly to questions and calls for help. Dr. Dugan understands and is sensitive to my being an over-nurturing dog parent.I have never written a recommendation for a veterinarian. I have been a dog rescuer and animal advocate for over 40 years.

Dr. Dugan, in one visit, helped me with some complicated paperwork for my dog. Attempted this several times at the chain veterinary clinics. She was very knowledgeable and caring. Wish I would of went to Papaya Veterinary sooner. Front office and vet tech were amazing too. I’m very confident in the care my dog received.

I’ve waited quite some time to give this review- not because of any uncertainty with this practice, but because my cat has been seriously ill for the last few months. I can’t express how grateful I am to have come across papaya. Every staff member I’ve encountered has been patient, kind, and sincere. Heidi, Paige, Andi, Vanessa, Maria, and Rachael. Just to list a few. Specifically Dr. Hymes, has been a major part of the experience. My cat has a laundry list of health issues and Dr Hymes has continuously attended to those needs. Taking extra time, researching, consulting other vets and specialists to give him the best. The transparency is refreshing, especially coupled with the compassion. If there is something or someone else that they feel is better suited they will be upfront with what their capabilities are or aren’t. The interest is in the animal and nothing more. There hasn’t been a moment that I’ve felt I was duped or that things were transactional. My cat has a genetic issue that causes a hernia (most of his organs sit in his chest cavity) no other vet had noticed his abnormal breathing. Milton went in for teeth extractions potentially related to his eye issue. Dr Hymes called before he was put under to inform me of his breathing and her concerns. This is when we discovered the genetic defect. She halted the dental work and spoke with other vets to determine if he was a good candidate for repairing the hernia. After finding that he was not, she proceeded to ensure that she knew how to put him under anesthesia without jeopardizing his life due to his abnormal breathing. THAT is the kind of bet you want your animal to see. Someone that is interested and willing. I can’t recommend them enough.

I have never found a vet that I leave feeling so happy after an appointment. I found an injured feral and brought her into Papaya. The way they treated her was so kind and genuine, they were so patient with this sweet baby and gained her trust.Front desk and the vet techs were very kind, but Dr. Tindall I have to say is amazing. You can tell she genuinely cares for these animals, and their owners and is very thorough when explaining what exactly is wrong and the treatment plan.Also let’s not leave out how cute this vet office is!!!Sweet feral girl is healing up perfectly and is very happy! Thank you to everyone at Papaya! It’s safe to say I will be bringing my two house kitties here from now on :)

For what it’s worth I haven’t went back after they closed down for months due to not having a vet recently. But I just wanted to list my experiences here. The staff is super nice, the facility is clean and modern and well thought out for nervous or anxious dogs. That being said, of my three appointments there I only saw a vet for part of the first, and they were nowhere to be seen for the rest. Everything is a bit too laid back, I’ve been told my dog doesn’t need any vaccinations but I’ve been called back while we were driving home from that very appointment. I’ve had to call in to see if anything was due cause they don’t notify you in time. While there for checkups they don’t really look too hard at the dog and miss things that I later found on my own. Lastly they seem to dismiss a lot of concerns and don’t offer many solutions or treatments. Recently just got a mailer for treatment recommendations and the due dates are 2 years back…. Overall it was okay but I didn’t feel like they actually cared.

Exceptional staff and care! The new ownership and crew that took over from previous management is amazing. I know their sudden/abrupt closure was a shock for many (including myself), but if you’re willing to give the new team a chance, you’ll be glad you did. My dog had major oral surgery along with other routine care, and I would highly recommend this clinic to anyone if you’re looking for superb care.

I first came across Papaya pet care at an outdoor event for dogs, Barks and Brews, where I visited the booth for a pamphlet and I loved everyone's energy and what they shared. Even though we weren't in an office, I could tell that this staff cared for animals and provided a different level of care.Then it came time to actually use their services. I had a scare with my pup, vomiting, etc and had taken her to urgent care. They told me to follow up with my regular vet to make sure nothing was wrong with her bloodwork, liver or anything else. That visit was my first visit to Papaya and I was beyond impressed with their level of care. Dr. Tindall told me that my dog was underweight and she was concerned at what her bloodwork might show. Although this was awful to hear, Dr. Tindall was so gracious and caring with me and my dog, Athena, when I was feeling guilty and vulnerable. We switched her diet to hopefully make some progress with her weight and had another follow up shortly after. I am confident to leave this amazing review now after having two visits to Papaya. Everyone on staff is caring and enthusiastic, you can tell they are willing to treat your pet like one of their own. I got to go back into the exam room with my dog which I know helped her level of anxiety. Everyone who interacts with your pet is caring and compassionate with animals, it's a great feeling as an owner to know that they have your pet's best interest at heart and they will do their best to help them feel comfortable through every part of the exam. I cannot refer this place to enough people, its worth the trek from East County for me.

Let me start by saying, I have been to quiet a few vets so far unfortunately, especially the past few weeks. We adopted two kittens from a shelter who turned out to be really sick. Not only did they provide me with the uttermost kindness, they made every effort to help me through the whole process until they got better. Though, that wasn’t the end of it. My kittens got too rowdy recently and one scratched the other in the eye causing terrifying corneal scratches, I called to see if they can see him not expecting much, they went above and beyond. Not only did they take him in right away, but the impeccable kindness from the front desk/assistants and the doctor (Stephany, Aidan, Alexandria, and Dr. Brooke) was rare. My poor furbaby also had an accident in my carrier due to fear and high stress and they were so kind to help me clean it up for me as I was distraught and worried about my kitty. Dr. Brooke was very reassuring and honest. They are not out for your money. They actually have humanity. You walk in, they ask if you need anything or want anything I.e. snacks, water, etc. When you enter the treatment room, they actually let your furbaby roam around in a pet-safe room, it’s relaxing, quiet, snacks nearby, pet toys. They do their best to make your furbaby feel at home in such a scary face.I was treated with quick, exceptional service and I hope I never move as I worry I’ll never find a vet like this again. And TRUST ME, I have been to one too many trying to save my kitties. They showed me humanity during a very hard time and I will always be grateful and thankful.

One of my dogs was under semi urgent condition. I brought my dog to Papaya vet clinic located near my home. It was my first visit to Papaya vet clinic but it didn't take a long time to feel that I visited the right clinic. All staff members were super nice and professional.It seems like their system is well organized, and especially Dr. Moss was wonderful. They have an in-house lab, and I received my dog’s blood/urine test results immediately. After visiting the clinic, I got a follow-up call and a message asking if my dog is doing well.If you are looking for a vet clinic with professional, super kind, well organized, reliable veterinarians, I believe this is the vet clinic for your precious pets!

I've never seen my cat so calm at the vet! The staff at Papaya were so sweet and my cat loved them. The room we were in was specifically for cats and I could tell the difference in the way my cat acted. We had a great experience and I would highly recommend to any other pet parents out there!

What a new/awesome concept for a veterinary practice! No more taking the dog in the back to trim nails, etc. He was also greeted with a delicious treat, and given multiple treats while getting his nails trimmed. I never knew he was never really a fan, as I was never able to be present for it. The treats made up for it ( he told me…Lol) The staff were really friendly and I didn’t walk out feeling as though I had completely emptied my pockets. No wait either!!!

Best of the best!Been to more vets and vet clinics than i care to count. This is absolutely the number one vet clinic in San Diego! The care shown by all staff members is outstanding. The follow-up after care is top-notch, and the facility is modern, clean and aesthetically pleasing. And perhaps best of all, they do not price gouge. What more can you ask for.

We had such a great experience at Papaya Pet Care yesterday. Our 4 yr. old kitty has a chronic ear infection problem. We have sought care at another vet and it's like being an ATM shooting out $200 each visit to just get another tube of the same medication (another $25 for the meds). I wanted a 2nd opinion, so we tried Papaya. I was able to go online and get an appointment the same day. They were super friendly and whisk you into a room as soon as you walk in. There is no waiting area. Less stress, since you aren't sitting in a waiting room with other animals.Dr. Mercedez Hymes was very knowledgeable. Her team was exceptional, as well. I think my cat wanted to go home with one of the ladies. They asked me good questions and gave me lots of different routes to consider for treatment. A steroid shot for inflammation, a new medication to try, a prescription for special food (that I order online- it's not like they are trying to make $ by recommending a specific food) to see if the infections are being caused by his food & a lesson on cleaning his ears.I'm so thrilled I came to Papaya. Now I feel empowered to help my kitty feel better again. I also can monitor test results online. Easy!!! Highly recommend if you are looking for a smooth experience with kind people who know their stuff. 5 Stars!

Discovered the clinic closed without warning or notice to any of us- and now I have to take my pets someplace else and repeat all the problems to get their medications- which I cannot get now-Terrible business. They’ve been very unsympathetic. So terrible can’t imagine going back when/if they “reopen”
