Enjoyed their friendly staff. They explained everything in detail and were very patient in answering my questions. It is hard to find a good boarding facility when you are from out of state, but Dr. Boyd's exceeded our expectations. I liked Dr. Boyd's because of their high standards and because they made decisions that were the best for our dogs based on the information we gave them both before drop off and during drop off. My dogs were happy to go back for the next day. We would be happy to use them again.

Dr. Boyd’s overnight boarding has been a lifesaver for me when I have to go out of town. My dog has severe separation anxiety but he is always willing to go into Dr. Boyd’s and walks away happily. I love the updates I receive and they also take photos during the day (see attached). My pup loves Dr. Boyd’s and i’m so thankful we found this place. The pricing is fair and your dog will be kept safe!

I am so happy with tbe services provided here to my pups in both the daycare setting and a recent vet visit I needed for my dog. The vet stayed to see my dog again when his labs came back with some discrepancies. She and the staff took their time and calmed my dog who is usually not comfortable at the vet or doggie daycares. Whenever I have questions management is quick to resond. I will continue to take my pups here for both their veterinary and doggie daycare needs. Thank you to all of the staff and management at Dr. Boyd's for taking such good care of my pups!

We had a wonderful experience with our stay at Dr Boyd's. They were very accommodating and got out little Lady in on very short notice. The techs were good with handling her separation anxiety. A very small down side is the very very saturated urine smell in the reception area if you have a highly sensitive nose wear a mask inside and you will be fine. Otherwise for our vacation stay this was such a great way to assure our pup was safe and cared for on the days we had activities planned she couldn't be allowed entry.

Poor quality. Management and cleanliness is poor quality. Pee and poop on dogs constantly. Lack of interaction with dogs and cleanliness is lacking. Daycare rooms are very small which gives anxiety to dogs. Overall not goin back to a place that has poor hygiene and management. Manager, Madison was very unprofessional on how she deals with situations. Time to kick bad to the curb. Place is falling apart.

Great boarding experience! We have a pup who is not great with other dogs and needs a solitary stay without any group play times. They take great precautions to ensure he is still well cared for and safe. The employees are always nice and friendly at the front.

$100,000-$150,000. This is the amount of money that Dr. Boyd’s Pet Resort is losing per my calculations of how much I would have been using their daycare services throughout my dog’s 15 year lifespan. The problem is that the dogs are socialized, but a lot of the staff are not. It is important to treat the human customers, pardon the expression, not like animals.I find some of the staff to be militant, defensive, unfriendly, and uncaring. Not a great trait for people taking care of your fur kids. I am not implying that all of the employees share these traits, but the number that do is disproportionately high.On three occasions, I voiced to staff that I was running late and needed to get my dog as soon as possible. I learned very fast they don’t care. On one occasion I was told that I needed to manage my time better. Since I always dropped off my dog and picked him up in a timely manner, 99% of the time, that was a pretty insensitive and nasty statement. Things happen. To all of us. So if the employee reads this, she needs to know that she could have handled the situation much better. In another case, I brought my dog in and someone else was right behind me in line. No one was there and then an employee walked out of the bathroom. She wanted to know who was first. I told her I was first. She felt the need to defend herself by saying she was in the bathroom and did not know who was there first. While she was going on and on, a cheerful employee came out and took the dog from the owner behind me. My dog was so excited to see this employee and just lit up and all she did is scowl at him. That speaks volumes as far as I am concerned.I was told that if I need to pick up my dog at a certain time, to call and give advance notice. I did just that and still had to wait 10 minutes. When I tried to talk to an employee, she brushed me off by snapping “ I’m helping someone else right now.” No eye contact. No social skills. So why did I mention the loss of $100,000-$150,000? My dog is now going to a wonderful day care, literally five stars when you check the reviews. Now, both me and my dog are as happy as we can be, and disrespect is a thing of the past. Unfortunately, they are closed on Tuesdays, so I have kept Dr. Boyd’s Pet Resort as a fallback when I have no other choice. I would have left in a heartbeat, but they are close to my house and open 24/7. The reason I gave them two stars, and some of the employees truly adore my dog.I just received feedback from management. When I read the feedback really closely, it was not an attempt tomake a situation better. Conversely, it was defensive and arguably was excusing bad social skills on the part of staff. Make no mistake, the manager was basically telling me what I needed to do to help the staff out. There was nothing leaned from that reply that I do not know already, and have waited patiently virtually every time I am there, except for the RARE times something was really urgent or emergent. I am 100% certain that even on my easiest day at work I am busier than any daycare staff on their worst day, and yes this statement is a fact. But I don’t treat people poorly because I am busy. There are no excuses.

Our Mr. Dugan has been cared for by Dr. Boyd's wonderful staff for several years now. We are comfortable boarding him at Dr. Boyd's because we trust the staff to love and care for him just like we do. Thank-you.

My husband and I were walking our dogs tonight & we happen to walk right by the Dr. Boyd's Veterinary Resort. When we walked by the windows, we could see very clearly, a small doggy inside a TINY kennel pacing in circles over and over and over. He seemed really stressed out and he was completely ALONE in that entire room. We stood there and watched for a while to see if anybody would come check on him or give him some kind of attention. Nobody. Nothing at all. We continued on our walk up the road and about an hour or more later came back by the vet resort and looked inside to see that poor little dog still going in circles. Stood there again for a while to see if anybody came to visit him and still nobody showed up. We felt so bad for him. I feel like this place stating it was a 'playcation' was totally misleading. The kennel was incredibly small (even though he was a little guy) and he was completely alone and very stressed out. I'm not 100% familiar with places like this for pets, but my husband and I both felt that this situation wasn't right for that poor little doggy. I would never trust another person to care for my babies properly, especially people we don't even know. I wanted so badly to go in there and save this lil' guy and love him! (Im going to try to upload the video i recorded of him. Not sure if it'll work)

My 9 year old dog has been going to Boyd since he was a 3 month puppy for vet care, boarding and day care. The staff is absolutely amazing and Luke always has a great time and is well cared for.

My beloved older cat just completed her first stay at Dr. Boyd's and I couldn't be happier with the result. Our former pet sitter, who would stay at our house, recently retired and I needed a pet sitting solution for a 5 night trip. I was admittedly a little nervous about dropping her off in a strange location but judging from her appearance and attitude when I picked her up they provided all the attention she desired. She came home healthy and happy. They were also able to give her all of the medications she needed which was great. As soon as I have my next trip booked I'll be reserving her a room at Dr. Boyd's again.

We love Dr. Boyd's! It was our first time here dropping off Momo since we were going fishing all day in San Diego so we had her in for a full day of daycare. The staff here are extremely thorough, professional and kind, and really put us at ease since our puppy is only 5 months old. The facility is extremely clean and beautiful as well. We definitely will be back for daycare and also overnight boarding. It's nice to know too that it's a vet here as well so you know your pet is in good hands! Also the place is open 24 hours so its very convenient for late/early pick ups and drop offs.

This was my pup’s first experience with doggy day care. Everyone was super helpful and patient with me as we got her registered and set up for the first day! The technician who met us at the door was very nice and helpful and my pup seemed comfortable with her right away. At the end of the day we picked her up and she was happy to see us but did not seem stressed out at all.It would be great if there was a doggy-cam to be able to see them in the play area.Otherwise all was great and we will be back for another visit soon!

We were out of town day-trippers to the San Diego Zoo traveling with our puppy. Dr. Boyd’s Pet Resort was very responsive to my questions when making the reservation and worked with me to get all of the required vet paperwork in order. This was the first time our puppy had day care and he absolutely loved it. The staff even contacted us midday while he was there to let us know he was doing well and then gave us his first report card when we picked him up. Would definitely recommend them. Thanks for taking care of our puppy and letting us enjoy the zoo knowing he was well cared for! Also, their hours are very accommodating too!!

My dogs love boarding here! It’s one of the few places they have ever been to that they seem utterly comfortable being dropped off and when they are picked up. It’s the staff that makes all the difference, they truly care for your pets, and even will meet their specific dietary and medical needs. Also, Dr. Wilcox is a GEM!! She goes over and beyond the average vet and is one of the most qualified individuals I’ve ever met in my 25 years of pet ownership. She isn’t just going through the motions. Dr. Wilcox genuinely cares about your fur baby and wants to do everything possible to help them. She also showed great compassion, balancing delivering hard news with kindness and understanding. Highly recommend! - Chelsey (Jude and Rory’s mom)

Our dog Honey has always received wonderful care at Dr. Boyd's in San Diego. She loves to go to doggy daycare, almost coming out of her skin upon arrival. She is a very exuberant dog with an over-active greeting response. She is handled with love and care and firm hands. We so appreciate all that Dr. Boyd's wonderful staff members at all levels have done for Honey and us!

I really appreciate that Dr Boyd's is 24-hour, because it accommodates our busy (and often traffic-impacted) schedules. I noticed that our dog has been a lot nicer around other dogs since she has been boarded with Dr Boyd's for approximately 7 weekends in the past year. She was never a mean dog, but really avoided them at the beach and on walks. Now she pleasantly welcomes them! I think she appreciates the amount of time they spend outside together at Dr Boyd's. She always comes home exhausted, which means she got some great attention. Their staff are very very friendly and take note of any special needs our dog my have at the time. I love that it is a Vet center, so I can rest comfortably knowing that if an accident were to happen, proper care is available. An added bonus are the photos on shutterfly! My only wish is that we could watch a live feed of the pups mingling - especially when we feel we miss her extra badly! thanks and keep up the good work, DB!

Dr Boyd's is the only place I trust bringing my dogs for Veterinary Care or boarding. But their Veterinary staff is by far the best that I've ever encountered. I have three dogs and I'm very very picky with who treats them. Dr. Christina is amazing with all of my dogs and the rest of the stuff really cares about all the animals there as well. They really have a special way of making everyone feel very welcomed. They also don't try to rip you off with their prices. They're very honest people.

I have taken my dog to several day cares in the San Diego area and Dr Boyd’s is on the low end. The employees there don’t seem to care and are very nonchalant when mess ups happen. Now I understand things happen, but not feeding my dog? Several times over a few days? And the response I get when I asked why my dog lost weight and has so much extra food left over from what I gave them...”thanks for pointing that out, this will be a good learning experience for the employee who watched her and she will try to do better next time”. So my dog doesn’t get fed and that’s your response? No you know what would have been a good learning experience...firing that person. There was another time, in the last few days, (which was the last straw) where my dog was segregated in her own space because she didn’t have a set of shots that although every Vet says is only required once a year, Dr Boyd’s deems it should be done every six months. So I agree to leave her with Dr Boyds, segregated, based on them telling me that they are going to take my dog for walks every two hours, I pick up my dog and she’s soaking wet, smells and is acting like she hasn’t been exercised all day. And all dog owners know their dog’s behavior, so if I’m saying she acted as if she hasn’t been exercised she wasn’t, or barely was exercised. My dog was there for 12 hours (I work long shifts) and there is no chance that they took her out 6 times. So this experience told me a few things, one they lied about taking her out and charged me extra to do so, two the kennels are not cleaned efficiently otherwise why does my dog smell so badly, especially if she wasn’t around other dogs, and the soaking wet thing who knows...maybe she knocked over her water dish while moving around the separated space because she had so much pent up energy from not being taken out.I won’t be taking my dog here again. Heed the bad review people, there are other quality places you can go to in the SD area.

My son is stationed in San Diego with the Navy and Dr. Boyd's has been an oasis in the "big city" for not only our dog, but the family too. I have an older dog that can not be left in a motel room for long periods of time, so Dr. Boyd's gives me freedom to plan a whole days activity and not worry about my dogs care. They are flexible, reasonably priced, and most of all, provide fantastic care of our dog when he is there. It is also comforting to know that there are Vet services on site as my dog has several medical conditions that may need to be address while he is there. Additionally, I like that they will assess my dog in the group area, and if he does not "fit in", they will move him to a quieter locale and give him individual attention. When I have picked up our dog, he always seems calm, happy and rested. Thank you Dr. Boyd's Staff!

I have been in love with Dr Boyds since it first opened and it's just gotten better over time. Dr Christine is truly one of the very best vets I've ever known and that's saying something! My cats have always received the kindest, loving care and attention; my family and friends brings their pets/dogs here too, all the staff are top-notch and even the "back-up" vet Dr Reynolds is excellent. Don't go anywhere else, everything you need is right here! Outstanding medical care, labs, boarding, day care, grooming/bathing and authentic care and concern for your pets with a deep understanding of their behavior and needs, plus 24- hour service! You will fall in love with this place, I guarantee! ❤❤❤

Love this dog daycare. One of the very few that have an outside yard in San Diego. Great workers, they do tours, and have a full vet staff on site. I have never had an issue here, and we take two of our dogs twice a week minimum. My mom boards hers often, and they both come back home and just sleep. It is great.

My dog Jinx visited Dr. Boyd’s for the first time over the 4th of July for a 10-day stay. He’s a very anxious dog so I was pretty nervous myself about the new stay. I called a few times and got friendly updates on jinx and how well he was doing (after an initial anxious day) and all the photos showed him clearly at ease and having a good time. Such a huge relief for me! Dr Boyd’s made me feel so assured that he was in good hands. Also, I dropped off a few Trazodone pills in case he needed it for his anxiety and authorized a subsequent vet visit if he ran out and needed a refill. In my head, I acknowledged that the bill could be run up pretty high. I was pretty relieved to hear not only that he didn’t need it (except for once on the 4th due to fireworks), but that Dr. Boyd’s didn’t take an easy opportunity to run up the bill. To me, this makes the facility not only a quality dog boarding business, but also trustworthy and professional. We will be back!

Was referred by a friend, and have been clients for 6 years. We have been very pleased with the veternary staff at Dr. Boyd's. The front desk staff is always cheerful and happy to help. I very much appreciated how compassionate they were when our Toby developed chronic renal disease and then transitioned over the rainbow after a year of illness. It is wonderful to have grooming, day care and boarding all under the same roof. Some services were cut back due to Covid, but they are ramping up again. We have started up care with our new pup Dewey; so nice to have in-person visits again and see Dr. Wilcox face to face!

Some might consider me an over anxious mother when it comes to my dog. The first time my dog, Zoe, was boarded here, I called every day to check on her and every time they gave me all the details without a hint of annoyance.Last month, she had to have a surgery on her eye, not only did Dr. Christina do a perfect job on the surgery, but she continually took my calls in the weeks leading up to it because I just needed the run down again to ease my nerves.Dr. Boyd's employees always know Zoe when I bring her in and they love her. I bring her every month for a bath, which at $39 for a bath with the works for a 70 lb dog it is hands down the best deal I have ever found.Dr. Boyd's Pet resort lives by their family motto and Zoe and I feel like part of this large, happy family. It's clear that everyone loves their jobs and the animals they work with. My mind is at ease whenever Zoe is in their care.

Completely incompetent process. We went back and forth giving them information only to find out a couple days before we needed our pup boarded that she was over their age limit. Would have appreciated a better process in understanding if our pup was a fit for their boarding. If their front end process is this lackadaisical, I can only imagine what else isn't done correctly.

Great Service and LOTS of Staff! Everyone is always very friendly to my dogs, and I feel like all the employees know my dogs by name. My dogs are always happy and tired when they come home from a day of daycare, and we have not had any incidents. We also board overnight with Dr. Boyds quite frequently, and they have always taken great care of the dogs. Lastly, we use Dr Boyds as our vet now because they are knowledgeable and friendly, and I like to drop the dogs off for the day and know that they can be seen by the vet and spend the rest of the day playing, so I don't have to stay for the Vet appointment if I am busy (and if it is a minor, routine visit). I wish they had better pricing for boarding two dogs, especially because I like for my dogs to share a room. You get 5% off the 2nd dog, but that's not much in savings, so we end up paying about $110 per night to board two dogs.

The reason I left my two dogs at Dr. Boyd's was because I expected them to receive excellent care. Even though I left detailed information, both of my dogs were returned to me in less than healthy condition. The dog with severe allergies and skin problems had big patches of missing hair on her side and back from scratching. The timid dog had diarrhea, which they tried to conceal from me. I arrived when I was due to arrive, but they said she was having her bath and it would be a few more minutes. When they brought her out, only her rear end was damp. After we got home, I discovered why. They charged me over $1,200 for 11 days. I would have no problem with the price had they taken proper care of my dogs. Dr. Boyd's is now my Last Resort.

I was treating my dog for a sore on her foot for over 6 months with another Vet. I got so frustrated I had to get a second opinion. I just took the dog into the previous Vet for another look and said "Are you sure this is normal?" This had been going on for 6 months. The recommendation was to just let it heal. I decided to go see a well recommended doctor. In the first visit Dr. Amy recommended some test and in a couple days I found out it was a cancerous tumor. She recommended a orthopedic surgeon and scheduled an appointment for removal. I'm so sad I allowed this to go on for 6 months before contacting her. Don't trust your pet to just anyone. Take my word have a real professional look at your dog if you are not sure things are going well with your current Vet. It could save their life. My previous Vet allowed this cancer to grow on her foot for 6 months. She thought it was just muscle tissue and never recommended to test it. Never once did I ever decline her recommendations for any treatment.
