On 2/3/24, I bought a bird from this store, and on the 2nd day, I found out it's a sick bird since it has the same symptoms as our just dead bird also bought in this store on 8/19/23. The bird died one month after purchase. I called the store, and the girl said I can trade in one. Since when we bought this one, the store only had this one left, and one month later they will have more. We thought we might wait to see if the problem will go away to avoid sending it back to give this bird a bad ending. Today I called the store, the girl insisted all birds they sell are healthy bird, no trade in. She said I can email the boss who never went to the store to see what I can do.

I bought a conure from this store, which was already priced at $700, and didn't realize how sick it was. I had to spend almost $1,000 in vet bills to get my conure back to health. Similarly, my girlfriend bought a parrotlet from this store, which died in the second week. It was almost the case for my bird as well. A lot of stress feathers were present in my conure, indicating a poor environment. Despite the conure being very sweet, I feel bad for the other birds kept here. I bought my second conure from a different store, and there was a drastic difference in his feather quality. Fortunately, both conures are healthy and happy. I would not recommend purchasing a bird from this store, as it can be risky whether you'll get a healthy bird or not.

this business used to be run by the sweetest people i’ve ever known. great prices and great environment, amazing family-run place. however, with new ownership this lovely little store seems to be a bit of a sinking ship. the young lady that wears makeup and glasses seems to be the only one who knows what’s going on anymore, she pulls more weight than everyone combined. the store must be very dear to her. hopefully whoever owns it now learns how to run a business.

I always buy my bird food here and my birds love it! Because of their healthy diet they are very happy and healthy! The staff is always very friendly and helpful when I come in. My favorite part is seeing all their cute birds! I can tell they are very well taken care of. They have lots of baby birds and they also re-home unwanted birds, both very needed in the bird world! Thankful for this awesome store!

Borded my two little lovebirds here and they seem to love the other birds and the interactions. Staff seemed very caring and helpful it was reassuring. Only thing is i am going to mention is maybe cleaning the cages other than that it was a great experience.

San Diego has only 1 good choice for exotic birds. Typically hand fed and very sweet family pets. We got our Painted Conures and White belly Caique there!

UNLESS YOU WANT YOUR BIRD TO DIE DO NOT FEED THEM THEIR FOOD!! I got my cockatiel here almost 5 years ago but ever since they got new staff it’s been terrible. The cages there are not clean, the birds don’t get out anymore, and their food has definitely got something in it. I quit buying my birds food here because their new staff are very rude but decided to get it a few days ago and not only did my 3 birds get sick but also my cockatiel passed away yesterday. All my birds are well taken care of and extremely healthy so for this to happen so sudden is extremely unfortunate. My family has went here for years and it’s never been like this. This place needs out of business.

They moved into this new place a while ago. It looks super clean and the people are helpful and courteous. I was in need of a beak trim for my bird and they did it right away. The bird is happy now and so am I. The prices for their services are very reasonable. I would recommend this place to all the bird owners.Edit- they now charge $20 flat fee for any kind of grooming. That's insane if you, like me, have a small bird. I needed the beak trimmed. It took literally 30 seconds to do it. For $16 I bought an electric grooming device which I now use for my bird.

they really know their stuff! the atmosphere in this place is wonderful, you get the sensation that these people love what they do, and that you're in a true family business. I had no idea what I was getting into when adding a feathered buddy into the family, but the staff was more than happy to guide me to the process. Also, I know now that this will be my one stop shop for everything bird related, as they seem to carry just about anything I think I may need. Cheers to them!

I went to Birdsmart today to check them out. I was very pleased with Kara and other workers there. I went in to check on parakeets and was very pleased with the selection of birds. They told me that they raise and trained the babies which most bird stores don't do. The bird supplies were plentiful. I will be back soon to get our new trained bird.

Bird Smart is a great place to get a wonderful pet bird. They have seed, cages, toys and the most beautiful birds ever seen. Staff are great and very knowledgeable. If you need help they're more than willing to help you. I like the store and I've been dealing with these folks for 30 years now. Check it out.

I love taking my birds to bird smart. I have used their services from bird grooming to boarding. They always take great care of my babies . I know I am always going to get great service from them. The owner is a very sweet and friendly person and cares about the birds like they are her own.

Clean birds well-kept cages salespeople very professional, and knowledgeable.the place is small not to many birds to select from some of their birds are a little too pricey ,and their bird seed is a bit expensive.it's good but just a little pricey parking outside the store is one way would be very careful if you're backing up with a large vehicle what best loved aboutBirdSmart they really go out of their way to help you find the right pet for your family. Answering any questions you have even helping you find a good Aviary vet who specializes in Birds you can't get any better than that.

The staff in this store are friendly, very knowledgeable and really care about their birds . We bought a hand raised parakeet for our daughter and are very happy with it. He is the sweetest little bird and loves being held by our seven year old. You can tell this bird was hand raised with a lot of love and care. Alisson helped us pick our new pet and gave us plenty information about how to care for him

Well I do love this place for bird related shopping. The main lady (forgot her name!) is very nice and very knowledgeable. I did have to knock one star off and here is whyI bought a lovebird from here over a year ago and when I purchased it I got a blood test to verify the gender. They told me my bird was a boy. Over the months I noticed it was displaying female behavior so I reached out to verify and a 2nd lady (also nice) said she was very knowledgeable in lovebirds and she was sure it was a boy. Ok cool. Fast forward a little over a year and there are eggs all over my bird's cage! Now for me it isn't a huge deal. But I did pay for the test (wasnt overly expensive) and I could see how a bad test could create a bad situation for someone who has multiple birds. So I just want to put that out there.

Great staff with a great selection of birds. It's obvious they enjoy being around birds, taking care of them and assisting less "bird knowledgable" people with decision making. They have toys, many different kinds of food and parrots out for anyone to play with. Overall, it is a pleasant experience and i highly recommend this place for any of your avian friend needs.

I have got my bird from there, very nice and friendly people. The allow you to touch the birds and hold them. When I bought my bird he was still baby and they have to keep him in the nursery and feed him till he wean. I kept visiting him there and I enjoyed spending time there with the other birds

Unfortunately, I went to this store today and had a bad experience with an employee as soon as I walked in. I felt unwelcomed and rejected. As a potential customer, I would not spend my money here as a result of this experience.I love business and I love animals, two things I'm extremely passionate about.To the owners and employees: I understand times are hard right now but please treat your customers with respect.(I gave two stars versus one star because the last time I visited another employee made me feel welcomed and appreciated from the moment I walked in. That other star is for her)

I got my green cheek conure a while ago here. They were super helpful and they do boarding for birds. It's $10 a day and they charge you for day of drop off and day of pickup (doesn't matter the time, still 10 bucks). I think it's a super great deal because the 10 bucks includes changing water, food, and paper at the bottom of the cage AND they give them fruits/veggies.

This family run bird store is the BEST in all of San Diego! Jenny, Ed, Staff & volunteers are extremely patient, knowledgeable & friendly. Jenny's prices are very fair, the birds are very well kept and the store is always clean & busy. I've been coming here for years & will never go any place else👏💖👏 👏🐦

They are so loving with their animals! Yes they have babies there but wont sell them until they are ready. They do hand feed them so they are just to humans. The bird that has plucked feathers from the other review didn’t even ask about the bird. He was relinquish there already having issues and he has improved a lot! They have awesome birds and boarding too. Half the birds there are boarding and they look to have fun being able to stare at other birds!

Visited this store recently. I'm sad to report that this shop could use a lot of improvement.I've raised birds for decades and unfortunately the shop needs to take more care with the cages and cleanliness.Yes birds do make a lot of mess, but several of the cages had 1.5" of droppings, old food, muck, etc. encrusted at the bottom.Some of the birds being boarded did not look healthy at all.There were many cages on the floor (or barely above it) where a solitary bird would be. That's the coldest, dustiest, part of any place, with absolutely nothing to see or be stimulated by.Prices were fair, and the staff was helpful, but honestly, Petco takes better care of their animals and cages.
