I’m so glad that I found this grooming salon for dogs. My dog is very afraid of the dryer and has always been hard to get him groomed. Luckily at Barkley’s they have experts who are kind and caring and overall very patience. They did an amazing job, my dog looked so adorable! I’m so grateful and happy to have found this grooming salon.

We bring our toy poodle here to get groomed and we have for the last 4 years since he was a puppy. Great service and a really kind staff. I have a video from one of their groomers and my dog included and it definitely captures the level of professionalism and the great atmosphere they provide. My poodle feels safe and always looks great after his cuts.

The best groomer ever! They would take a picture of the look just for future reference if you want the same cut. They also will let you feel how long you want the hair to be. We have a poodle mix girl and hair gets tangled up so easily. After a few weeks we send her to Barkley and they would remove all the knots. They are very professional and careful.

My dog needed a fresh new haircut and I came across this place near my area.I was happy I chose this pet spa! I adopted my dog few years ago and he needed special care as he has trauma. Not only did they take good care of him, my dog's haircut came out good and looked happy.So happy I found this place and will be a returning customer! 🙂

Our first time at a new salon and the communication with our groomer was great. I'm always hesitant to drop my dog off with a stranger so I surely read all the reviews. Some people talked about the smell, complained of them not clipping nails, or wrong cut. I think it is awesome that they wouldn't trim a dog's nails if the dog was too uncomfortable with it because it is an unnecessary risk to the dog and groomer. As for the smell, it's wet dog so you should expect that when going into a groomers. As for wrong cut, it happens sometimes so it's all about the customer service that follows and shouldn't be based on the wrong cut because often times a wrong cut is due to a new groomer and it takes time to get to familiarize the dog and groomer. What owners need to care about is if their dog had a good experience or not. Mine seemed to have had a great experience because she wasn't pulling hard to get to me when she came out and seemed happy vs stressed. Additionally, she smelled great and they did a fabulous job on her nails.Thank you and happy holidays!

DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG TO BARKLEY’S Pet Spa. They abused my dog - tying him up for almost 4 hrs before even beginning his grooming even though I had an appointment. Their new groomer, Jillian, lies and touts herself as a trainer, yet she did this to my dog who she knew had separation anxiety. She refused to finish his grooming saying she didn’t feel like it. The owner of this place just played dumb. If I could give them minus 5 stars I would.

Barkley pet spa employees professional dog groomers who are very patient with dogs. The grooming service is not cheap but the prices have risen all over San Diego area. They are very busy so it’s hard to get a last minute appointment. I like that they offer a quick turn around albeit for an extra fee, but if you have a nervous dog, you can have it groomed without the dog waiting for you half a day in a crate.

Best dog groomer ever. My dog is 11yrs old and experiencing some health issues. I explained this to Barkleys before taking him in….omg when I picked him up I hardly recognize him, just an outstanding, beautiful job on my dog. Totally happy with the results. Best grooming ever !!

I took my bosses dog here to have a full service groom. I specifically instructed the employee that we did not want her buzzed and I picked a hair length (number 4) off the example length list they had displayed. The girl said she would not use a razor but would use scissors and would just lighten her and trim her like I asked before she took her away. I was then told it would take 3 hours and too come back and get her around 5-5:3 when our appointment was at 2pm. We arrived and were told that they haven't even started Hallie yet and it would be another hour, so we waited. While we waited we could hear the workers blasting music which worried me because they seemed to be more focused on "how on a role pandora was today" rather than taking care of the animals they were grooming. Hallie came out at 6:20 and was completely buzzed proving to me that they did not care about our dog but we more engaged in the other employers and the music. Her nice luscious coat was shaved off and clearly was not trimmed with scissors. This is totally absurd and not worth the 55$ for a full service groom. I do not recommend this place to anyone. Horrible service and a clear lack of understanding on how to groom animals.

This place said they would clip my little chihuahuas nails although she is not fond of it. Right when dropping her, all my girlfriend heard was yelps of agony from other dogs. When she picked our dog up, they said they couldn't even approach her without her "nipping" and throwing "doggie fits", and they couldn't clip her nails. She has never even nipped at anyone including toddlers who might even try to pull on her tail or not know how to handle dogs. After reading previous reviews of other dogs with skin tags etc. Coming out of this place bleeding , I should have been more careful. Avoid these people at all costs. The receptionist seemed nice too. Unfortunately they don't know how to treat animals that have anxiety about getting their nails cut.

We have a Small Maltese and have been using Barkley’s for couple of years. Ann Marie does excellent work. I like the fact that they do a quick job and our dog doesn’t sit in a cage for along time. They are the best.

Chill spot that does my dog's nails. They're professional enough to make my dog feel comfortable and safe while also putting a smile on my face with their great prices. Definitely recommend checking it out

Their service is well executed however they have no printed pricing and the price quoted was less than what I ended up paying.When asked to explain they seem to lean on ambiguous explanation.The first visit cost about 1/2 as much as the second visit for the same service.I recommend getting a quote in writing in advance. It makes me sad, but I’ll shop around for our next grooming.

Disappointed by the results. I didn't like the way they clipped his head. It was really puffy and he looked too much like a poodle. His body clip was decent, but patchy in some spots. I was a bit upset that they plucked my dog's ear hair. I was not informed they would do this and it later developed into an ear infection. Plus it was a bit overpriced. I mean $75 for a 7 pound dog is ridiculous. Definitely not going again.
