Quite a nice location. Store is very clean and vibrant. Groceries look fresh and a good selection of items - especially an item that I can’t always find in every grocery store. Staff seemed pleasant; although I didn’t interact with anyone. I used the self-checkout, which was easy and not crowded (spaced out well). There’s a Starbucks in the location. And sushi!

I had the worst experience coming from a manager today at Safeway Red Hill so far. I believe it was miscommunication, rather than having the right information at hand. I was having a nice chat with the cashier while someone went to check the price of a product I was interested in. This manager should know to get the facts from me as a customer instead of accusing me of mistreating the cashier. She was totally out of place with her comments, asking me for politeness while she was scolding me in front of customers and employees. Well obviously Rena wasn't leading by example. She might be interested in getting more training.

I came here to pick up an order from online, Chummy took care of it amazingly. She did an excellent job with substituting things that weren’t in stock. Very polite, bubbly and professional. Goes above and beyond!

I recently shopped here, and it was a wonderful experience. It is so nice that the employees really try to keep everything in stock. This location is a larger store, so it has almost everything available for purchase. Every time I visit, I find the store is clean, well organized, and well stocked. It makes shopping here a wonderful experience. Thank you so much for keeping the shopping experience amazing. Be back soon!!

My favorite Safeway in Marin. Their fresh ! strawberries and Fresh real ! whipped cream cake can be special ordered and is always delicious. This is a two layer sheet cake (white) with a strawberries and whipped cream center and whipped cream top. It is lovely to eat in the summer as it is light and flavorful. Made to order on site !.😋

Had to turn around and walk out because of lines for the self check out and the sole teller going all the way to the back of the store. Looked on here and someone had the exact same problem last week and nothing was addressed. Store too cheap to hire adequate number of employees

One cashier on a Friday afternoon! The line for that and the self check were 3/4 of the way to the back of the store. This store is very poorly run and the lines are always long. Dont go if you value your time even a little. I abandoned my cart and went to Andronicos. 3 cashiers there! Took me 5 minutes to check out. AVOID!

Your customer service at the San Anselmo store is nonexistent. No one there is willing to come to the Service Desk. When I asked for help at the dairy box from two employees who refused to help. I worked there from 2001-2008 and when someone asked for help there would be several employees offering to help. The treatment of the management to the employees has caused the OG crew to leave and the manager tried to turn my complaint around on me like I was doing something wrong.Safeway was a leader in service and a place to work. Now it makes me want to never go into any of your stores.To bad you put making money over doing a good job and taking care of who works for you.

Typically I like shopping at this location; it doesn’t get sketch characters like San Rafael does. However I’m sticking with self-checkout as much as possible.Don’t get someone as careless or inexperienced as Kim for your bagger.I started loading a reusable bag and I got the impression she was mad I was doing her job. She spoke Spanish with the cashier the whole time. I felt like they were trying to gauge whether I understood them as they kept glancing at me and smirking. He started using the second conveyor belt to pass my groceries past me to her. She proceeded to dump canned goods over my produce (yay bruised tomato). Didn’t trust her with my eggs!

This Safeway has gone down hill...bummed since it's my store. I always have to go to another store afterwards. Such low stock all the time now. Example.....not one head of lettuce to be bought for 2 days now! Consistently low stock and low staff.

You still need to watch for price gouging, but I really enjoy their ready prepared meals that they've started offering as you walk into the store. As a single male, these come in very handy, as I prefer fresh meals to reheated left overs.

There was a long line at the self checkout so I went to the regular checker, the only one. I was next and when it was my turn the checker said, Why don't you just go to self check? I said, There's a long line there and I'm here now. I only had one item. He never smiled , I felt like I was bothering him by being there. I felt sorry for him, he seemed to be miserable.

It's like every other Safeway. The staff are friendly and helpful, but that is true for all Safeway locations (that I have been to). If you are a Safeway grocery store frequent flier, then this one is one that should be on your list if you live in the neighborhood. Great deals can be found at Safeway. This one happens to be in a nice location that is not too crowded when compared to other Safeway stores I have entered

Store is great up to usual Safeway standards.Only drawback is store has NO Powered Shopping cart for Seniors or Disabled... other Safeway stores have 2 or 3 working... Very disappointed in that aspect as it wore me out trying to walk the store and shop... Even with a 4 Wheel walker... Will think twice before going back.

What can I say, it's a great Grocery store. The deli offers pre-made sandwiches and made to order, plus hot & cold foods. I don't think they like when you want to substitute items on the sandwiches, but it's never been a problem for me. On site bakery, with a wide variety of cakes, doughnuts, etc. Produce department is large, again good variety of fruit and vegetables. And this I can't forget, the florist, because I can never pass it without getting flowers or plants. Yes, I would think most people will enjoy shopping here.

I came in for a sandwich the other day, and the lady working at the deli I believe her name was Surama was very hygienic and patient. Very kind and prepared an amazing sandwich, even changed her gloves THREE times and washed her hands every time ! Overall, for being in a middle of a pandemic She managed to follow precautions and make sure to keep other safe by washing your hands and wearing a mask! Well done job.

Visited lady's room at this store and is a nasty, dirty, grimy place. That bathroom has not had a good sanitary touch in years. Needs bleach, pinesol, lysol bombs to bring it up to part. Doesn't have a deodorizer or proper trash disposal for garbage or other objects. Please get a sanitary crew to take excellent care of the lady's bathroom. I shudder to think how the boys bathroom looks and smells. Needs a lot of elbow grease to do the TLC. Dear Safeway Manager your store should be spotless and stinkless need to work on that one Sir or Madame ASAP!

Usually crowded except in the mornings or late night. Isles are narrow than usual grocery markets. Good deli and produce section. I like self checkout because some of the checkers are snooty. Maybe overworked and underpaid. I avoid certain ones. Starbucks a plus but no gas station. Of all Safeways in Marin. This is the worst one.

Out of stock of many basic foods that aren't necessities.Cashier assumed I had no money and was going to abandon my order when a gift card didn't work. Then dismissed me. "Okay. Thank you. Bye"Let me get my actual bank card out at least, geesh.

I generally like shopping at Safeway stores because of the low prices and good selection, but this Safeway is so badly run that I regret every time I go there. Even with long lines of customers, only 2 of the 5 or 6 checkout stations are open on a Saturday, and the Express checkout line is unmanned. Many of the checkers ate unskilled. The result is a 20 minute wait even if you want to buy just 6 items.

Hi, honestly I never write reviews because I'm usually pretty tolerant over most situations. However, on March 18th around noon, I had the worst experience with anyplace honestly thus far in my life. I live in Oregon, was down because it was my boyfriend's birthday and went to the Safeway for cake supplies and some treats (in this case, his favorite candies and his favorite beer). Went to check out, and low and behold, apparently I can't buy alcohol there. The lady took one look at my driver's license and says she needed a manager to look at it. The manager, the real not good person in the story (she is short, with shoulder length brown hair) comes over and basically looks at my card and tells me she can't accept it. I'm confused! I ask her why, then she says I have an expired card. I point to the expiration date, which is not until next year I have to renew my license. She says then it has to be a fake, and she couldn't read my address. In Oregon, if you update your address, they give you a sticker and it wears off over time considering it's a sticker in a wallet. I let her know that, and she tells me, an Oregonian, that Oregon would NEVER do that. I mean? I point to her the hologram "Oregon" that shows it's not a fake, and the expiration date, and my birthdate. And then she says that she has to treat the card like it's expired because she can't read the address. Since when does a Safeway manager need to know my address so I could buy a pack of beer when I'm over 21 with a non-expired and perfectly legal drivers license? I then show them my military ID and she says she can't accept that either, because it doesn't have my birthday. Show her the birthday on the back, she says it doesn't count and that I'm holding up the line.Sorry for the wall of text, but I'm still so livid by this. Just the night before I went to several bars and /they/ accepted my ID. A week prior I went to an OREGON Government building and had to show my ID and it was accepted. I'm glad this Safeway manager was the end all be all of drivers licenses! Next time I purchase a case of beer from this Safeway I'll bring my birth certificate and a certified document with my address on it and MAYBE they'll let me through.

It's a Safeway, everything is expensive. The quirkiness of each store follows suit, too-such as the intercom system going haywire, and the self-checkouts always being glitchy. All of that is nullified, though; as they have obscure stuff, like Coca-Cola from Mexico, which is honestly awesome.

This is our neighborhood Safeway. unfortunately, it has the Worst staffing and scheduling I've ever experienced. Arriving anytime after 3pm expect only one or two checkers and long wait times at both the human and self check. Had an item not scan correctly in self checkout and with no one else in line the attend chose to continue a personal conversation rather than help. " I'll be with you in a minute" she said as she continued her personal discussion.

Much smaller than your average Safeway.I went through the entire store looking for bottled water and didn't see any until after I paid for my groceries and noticed they're in the front of the store. Kinda frustrating.

Safeway is terrible in general, long lines, overpriced produce and the there is always the self check out. Aren't we lucky. The San Anselmo store always seems to be particularly bad. I would absolutely recommend either United Market unless you have no other options.

I like this Safeway much better than the B St. Location. People here are nice, the shelves are usually fully stocked, produce doesn't run of the basics, and the whole vibe of the store seems more positive and less desperate. Also, I get to pass by Kitty Corner when I come to this Safeway!

Wow. What an establishment. I love the kind, loving, caring, curious, adventorus, and sexy people who work here. Gary and Nathan are two beautiful boys! Best sandwiches in all of Costa Rica, made by Gary, of course. God's eyes watch over this amazing team of hard workers. Wow. Wow. Wow.
