I've never seen such an amazing assortment of cat and dog supplies. I have a cat with special needs so it's nice to find a local store with phenomenal options!Pictured: Cat wet food**One month update**- Added more pictures- Noticed that the staff are on a name-basis with some of the customers- They have always offered to help me take my stuff to the car- They have great prices that are comparable to Chewy and Amazon. Support the local business- They have the Churu treats! These are hard to find sometimes- They were super helpful with providing recommendations when my cat had an accident and we needed a cleaner

Hands down the best pet store in Sacramento. Well stocked with a huge variety of brands. Good prices. Knowledgeable, friendly helpful staff. The only thing lacking is pet furniture/beds. It's a small store so space is limited and better to be stocked with important products like pet food, treats, etc.

The prices and people at the Pet Department Store are marvelous! What a way to shop local with smart and kind people and not feel like you're paying a premium to do it. They have an excellent selection of food and treats for dogs (and cats) and always great my little guy with such excitement! I'm so happy to have found this spot, and I know my pup is too! It's his favorite place to go!

I've been shopping here for many years (my doggie is almost 18!). They have a huge selection of quality dog and cat food. I am constantly trying new things to tempt my persnickety pooch, and never seem to run out of options at Pet Department Store. The staff are always helpful and nice.

I've been going here since I moved into the area about 16 years ago.excellent store snd staff. They have a lot of top brands and a few exclusive foods you won't find elsewhere.A few years ago they got in trouble with competing stores for their lower prices. They have a really good loyalty scheme for dog food. Every 10 bags of my $70 dog food I buy, I get one free.

I've Only Shopped Here Once. It Was A Good Experience. The Female Employee Was Friendly & Knowledge. However The Store Was Temporarily Out Of My Cats' Litter At The Time. Unfortunately It's On Back Order At The Moment.

Local shop has excellent service with great vibe that makes you feel like you are valued and "seen". I been going to Pet Department for several years but recently moved to other side of town and started shopping at available corporate pet chain. No personality, miserable customer service, your left on your own to answer questions. Yuck. I have decided that the longer drive is worth supporting local business and being able to have questions answered in a conversational approach. Small IS better..quality and service

I have shopped here since they moved from the old location. Foad and his staff are very knowledgable and so helpful. All the food and treats they sell are top quality and they also have unique products like the handcrafted dog collars, really works of art. Local businesses are so much better at providing personalized customer service, something you just don't get in the big box pet stores.

I really like this shop. It has everything you can imagine for cat supplies. It also has variety of cat food, so I can get different kinds for my kitten to try. There is plenty of parking in front of the stores, and by the street. I will definitely come back again

This independent east sac pet store is the bee's knees!! First 0ff they have the best selection of cat and dog food I've ever seen and fair prices too. The dog toy selection is also on point, they carry a lot of top quality brands like tiki cat, primal pet food, blue buffalo taste of the wild ect. Staff is somewhat friendly but very helpful!! If you have fur babies you'll love this place😆

Couple months ago, I purchased a few doggie yogurt (ice cream) at Pet Department store, where I shop for many years. I remember that day clearly, because their cashier - blond short haircut with eye glasses - barked, almost yelled at me, when I asked to call another cashier - the customer in front of me had a huge load, and it took her forever to repeat ringing him up. So, she snapped at me: "You can wait!!!!!!!". Even though those boxes - 4 cups in each - were soaked wet, dripping, and carton was falling apart, I bought them anyway, because other stores were out. Huge Mistake! The Owner of a Dog Rescue House, in Carmichael, e-mailed me that she gave these cups to 3 of her dogs, and all 3 became violently sick. I know, what happened at Pet Department Store: boxes got DEFROSTED, store Owner didn't want to lose his money and shoved them into the freezer anyway.

Great store. It may be in east sac, but the prices are very reasonable and the staff is more than knowledgeable including being aware of recalls and being sure to not carry any recalled items to ensure your animal's safety.

Employee - maybe owner or manager? - was extremely dismissive and condescending to me when I asked if they carried a product. She scoffed and repeatedly questioned what I had fed my pet and if I ever read the label on my preferred brand. You can inform, educate and even try to convince me to buy your preferred brand but please don't insult me. Never again.
