This is an overall amazing adoption center. I had a wonderful experience from walking in the door, filling an application, picking out the most perfect kitten and the follow up from the facility afterwards on how things were doing. Our family is complete with this nugget. She's everything we were looking for!

I used to volunteer here and I loved it! It's the best animal shelter FOR the animals in my opinion. The people are wonderful, I only wish I had the time to still volunteer. I would recommend it whole heartedly.

I had to surrender my puppy and my cat due to me being homeless and they took them off my hands so they can find a better home and a great life. They are very nice and friendly people who understand deeply. I couldn't have picked a better spot to surrender the 2 loves of my lives so they can have an amazing chance to feel the love they need and the freedom they deserve.

The staff comes off as condescending to people. I went there for various services and have to repeat myself because staff are failing to listen or other staff jumping in the conversation which confused things more and I don't need a long drawn out earful about something I am not asking about.

The employees and volunteers are doing a great job taking care of our pet family's. I had to surrender my dog . The staff was non judgemental and kind towards me and my dog. It was very sad for me but I just couldn't handle her high energy. She will receive leash training by experienced person and then she will be up for adoption. I know she will be a wonderful pet for the right person or family. I am very thankful we have such a wonderful animal shelter in Rohnert Park/ Cotati.

Rescued a dog coming up highway 5 in the middle of nowhere. I was on my way back home to Rohnert Park and I unfortunately couldn't keep the abandoned dog due to housing restrictions. Thankfully, the shelter took him in (with very helpful staff btw) and just merely 2 weeks later he was apparently adopted when I wanted to pay a visit to the dog. Thanks for helping out an animal lover. Much appreciated ROPO animal shelter.

A few years ago I adopted my bunny here. He has since passed away but he was the sweetest bunny. The staff was really great and my son was pretty young and they let us take the bunny out and let my son and I interact with him for as long as we wanted before we decided to bring him home. Unfortunately he was just a bunny that was caught roaming around and had no idea on his age or where he came from. But he was amazing. My grandma and grandpa also adopted their dog here as well as their cat. The staff is great and the animals are well cared for here. I'd recommend coming here to find your new furry family member!

I love this shelter. It's very clean and the animals are very well taken care of. Please find your new furry friend here...there are wonderful senior animals that need loving homes. One beautiful animal will become your new best friend. Or better yet, volunteer. Once I'm retired I will volunteer at this shelter.

Professional and courteous working with Shannon, coordinator. She was efficient, knowledgeable and patient. Our puppy is in excellent health and very sociable, reflecting the care and attention she received at the RP Animal Shelter. Words cannot express how grateful we are ! Thank you Shannon and the RP Animal Shelter for all the work and effort on behalf of your dogs, cats and others.

I adopted a rat and a dog from there and they are fantastic. The staff members are really nice and the pets are well cared for. After having my rat, Izzy, for a while she passed away a few weeks ago but she was the best rat I have ever had. My dog is only two so I'll have many more great years.

We adopted a kitten here from Forgotten Felines of Sonoma County. Ask them to see the binder with more information of the kittens, it was really useful but not something the volunteer offered up front! Our kitten passed his initial health inspection but later we found out had a very strange parasite not found in the general fecal exam. Overall we are absolutely in love with him though and are happy to have found him. The kittens move fast here and we are very lucky. The application and adoption process was easy and professional.

I love this place they do everything they can for animals! The volunteers are always awesome the staff in general is awesome! I love the events they have and the ability to buy products that simultaneously donates towards the rescue and if anyone needs something for their pets or a a critter they took in they have available free stuff sometimes in the lobby to help the community! Thank You guys for being amazing and being there for the voiceless!

This is the cleanest, most organized and well-run animal shelters you will ever visit! I've adopted a dog and a cat from there. Their animals are vet checked, vaccinated, miceochipped, spayed/neutered and temperament tested! And the adoption fee is incredibly reasonable considering all the time, money and effort the staff puts into each and every animal. As far as the people complaining about impound fees - if your animal runs away, and is fortunate enough to be brought to the shelter, where it will have a roof over it's head, food, water and possible a vet examination, yes, you do have to pay for that. Especially if your pet isn't spayed/neutered because guess what! They might have been out in the world making more unwanted puppies/kittens/bunnies and guess where they will end up! The shelter! So stop whining and be thankful your animal has been taken care of instead of wandering in traffic.Good job Rohnert Park! Keep up the excellence!

Totally committed staff. They do EVERYTHING possible to see that the animals they care for are placed in loving long term homes. They offer low cost and free spay/neuter clinics for locals of the community. They interact with the animals before they adopt them out to ensure they become well socialized. The kennels are clean, as is the front office. They make sure any animal needing medical care receives it. They even have bunny play days where you can go and be surrounded by "floofage" and perhaps bring home a new bunbun friend.

We shared a wonderful pet adoption here. Our 8 year-old girl discovered a rabbit at Rohnert Park Animal Shelter and said, "That bunny is following me.""Does he have a name?"She said, "Yes. His name is Paris." So we ask to visit with Paris.Mickey, the shelter manager welcomed us and showed us ways to calm and safely handle him. They held Paris for a week, until my husband returned from a business trip and could visit. All family members had to be okay with Paris's adoption.Everyone treated us kindly and smiled as we took our new pet home.Paris was a healthy and friendly guy. He lived to the great old age of 12. We love and support this shelter that keeps doing better at rehoming dogs, cats, rabbits and small pets.Weekly I read Mickey's column updates on RP shelter promoting kind and humane treatment. And I refer to her expert advice on my Dog Leader Mysteries blog. Plus I visit this shelter regularly and share their adoptable pets online. We have always been treated with kindness and in a friendly fashion by volunteers and staff.

There trying 2 charge me $200 to get my puppy out..been less than 2weeks. Plus there saying their going to turn over ownership if I can't pay his bail by the 19th, with no proof/notice/letter of any sort informing me. Needless to say I'm unhappy with this BS their trying to pull not following proper response as well as legal documents witch won't/couldn't provide me when I sadly asked for my Owen verification to prove they did in so sent documents in regards to my personal situation under matter of release of my puppy. They just want to be able to keep/adopt him out cuz he's so darn adorable and sought after..But besides my personal issue, the staff are very pleasant and it's a beautiful pound as far as animal shelters go...nice area.

Rohnert Park Animal Shelter is the most outstanding animal care center with whom I've ever been associated . Many years ago I was a volunteer "cat cuddler". Soon after, I adopted my kitty, Desi. Fifteen years later, when Desi needed major dental work, I had lost my job and couldn't afford it. This shelter has a special program that assists senior citizens with vet bills. They paid over $1000 for Desi's teeth extractions. He lived two more years and went to the Rainbow Bridge at age 17 thanks to the RP Animal Shelter. They also provide for adoption space for Forgotten Felines where I am now a volunteer adoption counselor.

The people there are awesome! I lost my beloved cat Meowmers during the Sonoma wild fire and she made her way to them. They took wonderful care of her until we were reunited (I know this because she told me 😉). They are the best! Thank you R.P.A.S!

Please help! Our cat, Chase, is being held for ransom! I petted him and fed him less than 24 hours ago (01/27/2017), and then he was stolen from us. He is now being held at the Rohnert Park Animal Shelter, and they are telling me that I cannot have my pet back until I pay them a ransom fee for them "finding" him. He wasn't "found"! You stole him, and now you're holding him for ransom! Chase is a large, all-black, 11-yo, male (neutered) cat. We want Chase to come home without being extorted by hostage-takers.UPDATE 03/10/2017: A [small and partial] victory for liberty against extortion by crazy cat ladies! We appealed Chase's impoundment and won! :-D The city police chief agreed with us that the impoundment was illegal. We still had to pay for the city-required license ($12) and rabies shot ($6), which would have been required for any "found animal", but the hundreds of dollars in other "impoundment" fees and charges were all dropped.
