House Rabbit Society is a one of a kind, amazing organization that provides safety and care to rabbits from overcrowded shelters across northern CA. They have educational resources and boarding services for the public, and invest in the local community through their low cost spay/neuter clinic, RHDV vaccine clinic, and food pantry days. Shout out to the staff who keep HRS at the forefront of rabbit education and care, and for keeping the bunnies happy. Volunteering here is a blast, give it a try :)

An amazing organization that puts the animals well-being over all else. I adopted two rabbits from here and each time the process was smooth, professional and caring. The team at House Rabbit Society helped me through the loss of my beloved rabbit and even helped me find my other rabbit a new mate to bond with. Overall, I’m eternally grateful for all the House Rabbit Society has done ❤️ I recommend this place as a resource to every rabbit lover I meet, such a great team!

Wonderful establishment. The stuff they do for rabbits is amazing. So many who've ended up here and getting the care they need. If you could see the special needs rabbits here and how they're taking care of, it will give you hope for humanity. We ended up with a rabbit and had to get another (as rabbits are social animals) and ended up pairing her with one from here. We board our rabbits here when we're out of town as we know they'll get great care. This is one of the places we donate money to because we know it's going to help the rabbits, not in someone's pocket as a bonus. Please support these great folks.

House Rabbit Society is the best for bunnies and people who love them! Knowledgeable and extremely nice staff and volunteers. The Hop Shop has great deals on pet supplies, from food, treats, and toys to habitat, accessories, and resources. I love when I can visit the facility and meet the current buns in the shelter. (Adding photo of Amelia Earhart, pressed up against her enclosure because she just wants to be loved and have her head petted! A sweet girl I hope finds her furever family soon.)

Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Fostering and adoption opportunities as well as all your rabbit supplies.UPDATE: we are now fostering a rabbit! Foster is for one month. HRS supplied a pen, litter, food, a blanket, and alfalfa. Very easy process, short application and lots of helpful staff with tips upon pick up. The children love the animal, which also gives them something else to do beside stare at an electronic device all day!😉 Its been about a week and a half and our cat smokey and the rabbit, victoria aka thumper seem to tolerate each other pretty well.

This is my go-to site for ANY questions I have about my Rabbits. They cover medical issues from A - Z. Rabbits are extremely sensitive creatures, and 8 out of 10 times the advise of "See your Veterinarian immediately" is in fact correct. But, for specific health issues, they can be treated at home if you have the provisions and the stomach to get the job done. They don't give you fluff, despite how gruesome the facts may be. Some people prefer not to see the harsh reality that comes with being a responsible bunny owner. The "Rabbit Guy" is my hero, he's never failed me.

Incredibly friendly and helpful staff and wonderful facility. Clean, animals are well cared for, application process is clear and straightforward. Every email and phone call has been answered promptly, even on days they aren't open to the public. Well stocked little ship too. Great resource and rescue organization.

BEST PLACE FOR ADOPTION!!! They take very good care of their rabbits. They give them large exercise pens, allowing lots of space for them to play. They interview you before you adopt, to ensure the rabbits are in good hands. The rabbits are all nice and you will easily find the perfect rabbit(s) there. I would definitely recommend!!!

I LOVE the House Rabbit Society. Been a member for several years and their website tells you everything you need to know if you are going to adopt a bunny. Last year I was fortunate to be in the Bay Area so I could visit their HQ. Everyone there was so helpful and the rabbits make things even more fun of course. If you are wanting to donate to an animal charity please consider them. They do so much good for rabbits and people alike.

I adopted my bunny from here about 2 months ago and it was a really easy process! I emailed back and forth with someone a few times about the bun I was interested in, and was able to meet and take him home the same day! I have prior experience owning bunnies, so it was easy. Pretty relaxed place

If you are considering getting rabbits, the House Rabbit Society specializes in rescuing rabbits that were going to be euthanized at animal shelters. There are many individual, or paired bunnies to visit. You can foster, or adopt spayed or neutered rabbits that need loving homes, or you can volunteer to help this important non-profit. They also offer affordable hay, treats, chews, and more. It's easy to become a member and fall in love with these furry friends.

The staff and volunteers at HRS are dedicated, informative and always willing to help. Rabbits have a different set of needs than other common domesticated animals but the basics apply - spay or neuter, spend time with your rabbit and treat them like a family member.Would you keep your cat in a cage outside? :-(If you have a rabbit and are struggling, please reach out to the folks at the House Rabbit Society for help. Once understood, house rabbits make fantastic companions!

We just went in to look. Then we fell in love. Now we have a bunny and we couldn't be happier. I love this place for their patience and their information. This is a great place to adopt a bunny, they are well taken care of and the staff is very happy to help with every step of the process, even after you have taken your new family member home!

I just had my rabbit spayed in the house rabbit society, and since they are a nonprofit organization, so the price is really affordable . The service is extremely good which is out of my expectations. They even did a follow-up call to check my rabbit’s recovery. Just be sure you read their information on the website to schedule the appointment because they only perform spay/neuter the 4th Monday each month.

I love this organization!! Great staff, love the Hop Shop (hay is super cheap here), greatly discounted prices for spay/neuter, and they took great care of my Bunny while we were away on an extended vacation. Can't say enough about them!🐰💕

We buy big bags of hay and food for our bunny here. The price for the pellets is competitive to the chain pet stores. Also, the people who work/volunteer there are helpful and friendly.

This is a fantastic organization. I am adopting a bunny to pair with my current rabbit and this organization has been super helpful. I would recommend going and talking to the people and seeing the rabbits if you are interested in adopting.

3/16/15I wasn't looking for a pet rabbit, but on a winter night a couple of months ago my mom found a teeny rabbit shivering in the cold, unprotected from predators. She brought the little furball inside and called me to see if I could find a home. Oh yes. Ohhhh yes, I could find a home! The next day I found a hutch on Craigslist and named my sweet little bunbun Clarice. She licked me and licked me and gave me lots of bunny love. Then, she lost interest in me and began following one of my cats around. All over the house - including to the top of the cat tree where they would sit and kiss one another. It became apparent that Clarice was not a little girl bunny when she began humping the cat. Then - my nightmare! He sprayed the cat!!!Oh. Hell. No.I called a vet, confirmed the sex of the rabbit, and then scheduled a neutering appointment. The vet quoted me almost $500 for the surgery. They explained it's a more dangerous and complicated procedure with rabbits than with cats or dogs.I scheduled the appointment, brought the now-Clarence bunny in for pre-op check up (an additional fee) and then decided to check some other places for cheaper surgeries. I spoke with Sandy at House Rabbit Society in Richmond who had a neutering appointment available for $100! Oh my goodness - yes, yes yes. We were really lucky that someone had cancelled their appointment, especially because the payment is due at time of scheduling and non-refundable. He was also able to be microchipped at this appointment - exactly what the previous owner should have done!My husband dropped off Clarence on his way to work and picked him up after work. Clarence was in good spirits! The society called to check on his recovery - which was going great. The incision stayed clean and healed nicely. Clarence had no problems! I am so thankful that I was able to save this kind of money, and come home with a happy rabbit who no longer humps my pretty kitty.Rabbits are a lot of time and work and money. They are a long-term commitment - 10 years. I can't wait until I can give my bunbun a yard to run in, instead of the condo he gets to run around. He's much happier and healthier now than he was when we found him, and I love him! And I love House Rabbit Society too!

Great staff and easy curbside pickup. I forgot to pickup an order and received a call to see if I wanted to have my order mailed or to still pick it up. A big thanks for the courtesy follow-up by HRS!

Kind, conscientious and know their stuff which is rabbits. The little store is awesome. The prices for the most part are good. However they have these large bags of timothy hay for a great price.
