The Employees/cashier ladies hold this place down solid!Recommendation to Management: Please make parking area designated in & out and angled parking spaces. Shop Smart Dredway is a lost cause.Soon to disappear like Geiger's Market in Laytonville.Hippy green rush is history too.Shop Smart cannot survive this population shift .Maybe Ray's groceries in Garberville can stay open ?

Popped in this little grocery store as our last stop before heading into the woods for 4 days. They had a surprisingly good variety of items from Seventh Generation, Tazo tea, Garden of Eatin'. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised at the selection, given I was in Humboldt County, but the exterior gives this place a real old-time feel, like a place from the 70s. Why fix it if it isn't broken? Lots of fresh produce, even heirloom and Early Girl tomatoes for cheaper than you'd find in bigger towns. I didn't get a chance to check their meat counter but they had some beautiful looking loaves of bread and baked goods that I had to pass up becoming we already brought some provisions with us. Happy to keep supporting smaller businesses like this, staff was friendly too.

Has one of the better selections of supermarkets in the area. With limited choices this is our go to if we are not planning on driving too far. Staff are friendly making this a hidden gem

Prices are really steep, captured market, deli food is white trailer trash dining, like you would expect in Oklahoma. Personally I drive to Eureka for a Costco run every week or two, INFINITELY better value. Just one example, tubs of spinach at Ray's and Shops Smart are 5oz and $4.99....exact same brand at Costco,16oz and the price is $3.79!!! Get 3 times as much plus a bonus ounce and save $1.20!!!!

Very friendly staff and shelfs are usually stocked with items. Very friendly community and even the homeless people are easygoing and respectful. I give them money every time I go there to help them out with their needs. So if you see somebody that needs help, it's a good thing to help them out and karma will come back around 10 fold. They're also open till midnight every day which is super awesome.

Prices are higher than Whole Foods Market. There isn't a public toilet in the store I was sent a half mile to the shell station. The meat and fish counters are great!!!! Most locals shop out of the area as often as possible. The Rays/Shopsmart company should be ashamed of their corporate treatment of their customers here. The local employees are awesome!!!!!

A different vibe than Ray’s. Better produce, dairy and bakery. Nope bought a pork chop at Ray's and it smelled bad an hour later. And there is always a line for the one cashier on duty.Biggest plus is less homeless, and in general Redway has the nicer ones.Music is better than Ray's too.

You probubly find what your looking for here. They have just about anything you could need. The cashier was super friendly and nice. We went mid morning, so it was not very busy.

They have a "seniors only" shopping hour in the morning. Much appreciated! Everyone should be wearing a mask.. But because they don't, this is the only time it's safe to shop! Thanks. 😷Other times the checkout lines can be very long. They should hire more checkers.

Needs alot of help. The shelves aren't stocked, very few checkers, and the wait sucks. Employees...the few they have, are awesome. And they do what they can to make it work. Keep up the good work employees. Management and/or owner...hire some people!

I have shopped here for 30 years. Ever since they were bought out by Rays, prices have climbed exponentially. I go out of town to buy more than a few items. They have very little service here & I waited in line 30 minutes to buy my gluten free bread. There was one checker with 9 baskets in line. Safeway is another hours drive & we can buy twice as much there for the same cost, & of course, off to Costco twice a month (1 & 1/2 hrs farther). This picture of the dairy department is 5 days after PG&E shut offs. I went back to Shelter Cove Store for dairy. They had plenty...

I've been coming down this way for 20 years I love the the area surrounding this store it's been very beneficial to me the eel river is beautiful but there are two grocery stores in this area I find the other one is a little too expensive their produce area is small Shop Smart has a wonderful Deli produce and wide variety of food for a cheaper price than the other store easy in and out parking nice pizza place Next Door liquor store you can accomplish a lot at this one stop

The people that work there are extremely rude and non- helpful. The old man that checked me out asked how was I going to pay today and I stated, with my ebt card. He said what a shame. Like he judged me for being on public assistance. I mean man you're 70 something years old and working at a grocery store. Who are you to judge anyone. I really dislike that store

The employees have helped me more than once, but while under lock down due to the virus. The employees took my order and brought it to my home,it was a blessing. The store makes you feel at home. Rick

I've been shopping here (and before it was shop smart it was murrishes) for over 40 yrs...since 1979. It's always been the ten dollar and up store,.lol.. but I've gotten used that,. I just love all the people that work there, and that's what it's all about to me

It's better then Rays in Garberville. That said it is owned by the same company and they take advantage of their monopoly with high prices on pretty much everything. I hear this location is one of the most profitable for the chain.

The store has seen a facelift over the past year. It is bright and well organized and usually fully stock with a very good variety.The employees are always helpful.

Better prices at shop dumb than at Ray's in Garberville for some items, the deli is kind of grungy and the food is lower quality than Garberville deli even though they offer pretty much the same things. Sandwiches are good but that's about it, seems like most of the deli items have been in the hot case too long and their potato wedges are floury and terrible.Love the staff here and still support the business but hate the types of undesirable druggies that hang out all around the property including outside the building begging for drug money with some sad story on a cardboard sign or fighting and smoking pot in front of the neighboring properties D'amatos pizzaria or the Post office . Even despite the recent renovation and better ambiance this place hasn't been the same since it was Murrish's Market.

The people and workers are great to the customers they don't discriminate but some of the prices I've noticed a slightly higher than in Garberville at Rays that's the only problem that I have with it

Actually it needs to be upgraded all the way around! As high as priced as they are one would think they could afford some renovation work! It's not exactly the cleanest store!

This rating is based on what is available locally, good choice for people who like wine and beer, some good cheeses,this is not fancy or big just a good selection for a rural place. If staying any length of time in the area if they don't have it usually they will get it.

Shop Smart is the ONLY store in Redway California. You have to drive 50 miles to get to any kind of chain store that anyone from outside the area would actually recognise the name. The prices are very high but it's all we have. Lisa is the new manager and has always been nice to me. Nucleardave

Honestly loved it here. Typical grocery store, but felt authentic. Big brands, yet small town feeling and treatment from everyone. Stop by if you're in the area. Everything you need in one stop.

Nice little store. We were super happy with the seafood medley from the meat market section. I didn't think the prices were out of line.

Prices are ridiculously high. Always only 1-2 checkers max. Stand in long long lines up to 35-40 min.Limited selections on baked goods. Sale prices are equivalent to other supermarkets daily prices some more.

The locals grocery store. Less stuff but more of what u want in better sizes & more specialty items youd want. Deli is better for seafood & meats. Hot foods are hit n miss.
