I was rather impressed with the place and entirety I would most definitely go back and with my larger family … they had a arcade for the kids , live music .sauna i didnt get a chance to utilize and i wish i had more time need to stay more than one nite .Nearby activities: The place was definitely better than what the reviews or pictures showed i will be going back .

We wanted a simple sleep and shower cabin to stay at while exploring Humbolt State Park. This place met our needs for simplicity and for being pet friendly for our <50lb dog (restriction on this location). The cabin, C1, had a nice kitchenette, hot water shower, and toilet. With temperatures dropping to high 30s it kept us comfortable through the night. We also enjoyed a campfire and some local wine from the Camp Store. I was also happy to find a laundromat here and got caught up on my cleaning.I look forward to using this location again with my tow behind camper.

If I could leave zero stars I would. I haven't gone on vacation with family in years! And was finally able to get away from work. The paper they gave us said no more than FIVE people (kids under 12 were free) per camp site and no more than 3 tents. The first night here we had 3 tents and they told us to take it down so we did. The next day they said no more than 2 adults ( we had 4) and that we had to pay extra. Each day someone came and tried to charge us for things. The owner said that it was never allowed to have more than 2 adults but the paper they gave us said otherwise so it's so confusing. It just seems suspicious because at check in they were saying how dead they were this weekend then randomly they're tacking on extra fees.. besides the rude service everything is trashed. I felt so disgusted using the bathrooms. The pool was dirty and filthy. They probably never cleaned anything. The playground had trash everywhere. I wouldn't let my kids here at all! The river was the cleanest part of this place which is wild! The permanent residents in RVs have trash everywhere too. Very ghetto place. I would feel safer sleeping in my car literally ANYWHERE else. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!

Love this place!! Nice clean rooms super nice staff and the rooms are very quiet! The hot tub and pool were great and nice and clean!! Would definitely stay here again!! Great price compared to other motels around this area!! The mini golf was a lot of fun.Rooms: Nice rooms with microwave and refrigerator. Sliding glass doors lead out to patio with table and chairs.Safety: Never ever felt unsafe here.

Dean Creek gets a bad rap because of the devastation of this sweet little community's economy. No, the resort is not what it was before Prop64 but give the proprieters a break! These are locals trying to feed their families, not a multinational corporation. They can't exactly open another franchise until the economy improves.I stayed here in 2022. I reserved my campsite online and was limited to a week's stay. I am in a minivan and could have booked a tent site, but I'm a boondocker and wanted FULL RV hookups to recharge my power banks (not enough sun for my solar in Cali), refill freshwater tanks, empty grey water, take a shower, etc.The staff was friendly, professional, and nonjudgemental. The long term residents were respectful and their sites were tidy, attractive, and well cared for.My dogs were accepted and I got to take a shower, use my laptop with their wifi, play video games all night long, and recharge my batteries. The resort is conveniently located near Garberville and the less expensive shopping district in Redway. The kiddos can go play in the river without ever leaving the campsite, iirc, and though the rent may shock you, it is well worth it in light if Cali's notoriously exhorbitant petrol prices and not exactly undeserved reputation of being unfriendly to RVers.I'm giving them five stars because they deserve a break. If they had more income, they could install the security cameras I would wish for and this resort could easily return to its former glory.Have fun and enjoy SoHum!

Our room was clean. Staff was friendly and respectful. Office has a good variety of items/snacks at a fair price. On site laundry worked perfectly. If you need anything the staff will get it for you right away and with a smile. The new BBQ pits outside the cabins are nice and fancy! River access was amazing since you can drive right down. Beautiful location!!!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This place was fantastic we just got home today from a little getaway to the northern woods !! We had such a great time .. hotel was clean and accommodating .. nice clean kitchenette plenty of room we had our rowdy pups with us .. no complaints.. we tried to keep them quiet but .. my husband got to do a camp fire and make s’mores with the grands !! They enjoyed it .. little putt golf was fun for them.. pool was fun and not too deep for the kids .. store was accommodating and well stocked .. and prices were reasonable!! All in All it was a good trip made easier because of Deans Resort!! Oh and by the way the the local wine they sell is Fantastic!! My eldest grandson had a wonderful time drawing the hostess a Beatles picture.. he’s a fan and so are they … thank you Deans we had a blast !!… we will be coming back next year with the grands And Both daughters and their families.. so expect our calls!! We had an RV and wanted to stay overnight. I called ahead and said we would be late and all was good. When we got there I called her and honestly she was rude and nasty. She gave us a site and a long the way another camper was outside waving his arms and was verbally abusive to my husband over the size of our RV and made disgusting comments about my husband's person parts. The campground is small and not being rude.....it was filled with tents full of people who just made more nasty comments. This is NOT a campground for family camping and if I could give it negative stars I would. BTW the water was dark brown and filled with some kind of gritty slimy stuff! Stay away!!!!!

We read lots of reviews and a lot were bad but we needed a place to stay on our long camping trip both before our destination and on the way home. This place was great lots of stuff for the kids to do to keep them happy like a pool, free mini golf, an arcade room and a river to skip stones. We had a great time staff was super nice and we didn't have any problems at all. Would definitely recommend this place!!

This place is wonderful and fun! The cabin we stayed in was clean and had all the necessary amenities for glamping. The cabins have awesome porches that overlook the river, as well as a picnic table and fire ring. The owner was super friendly, and there is a little convenience store on site for any camping needs. There is also a pool, hot tub, dry suana, and mini golf on site; all free with your stay! My husband and I had a fun time here, and we will definitely be back whenever we are in the area! Thanks for the fun memories!

Dean Creek Resort was very nice to us. We were driving through the area and wanted to unhook the 5th wheel trailer for a few hours so we could drive through the "Avenue of the Giants." They were very understanding. The entrance and exit are very narrow but we made it work. This campground is in a perfect location to see the large redwood trees.

Very cozy and quiet at night. We stayed at one of the cabins they had and ironically we've been here 2 years ago and got the same exact cabin as last time, which was pretty awesome. Has homemade mini golf, an arcade area and a small area to access the river. There are kitties that roam the park but they are super friendly and don't bother anyone. This place is located just a few miles from the avenue of the Giants which was super awesome. Love this place and will be coming back in the future.

Will charge you every step of the way regardless of how inclusive the camping package is, from using the pool to setting up a second tent. I don't recommend this campground for anything, except losing money. Hot tub looks like it hasn't been used in months even though they advertise It is. Stayed for 2 nights and they charged us over 200$ because of all the feesNoteworthy details: Untrustworthy establishment!

Ladies in front were really during checking... only negative thing I will say is that BE CAREFUL buying from the grocery area bought some string cheese that had expired about 3 months prior and was moldy. And they did not seem to care, no apology or anything. That's the only reap negative I will say.Rooms: Room was small, but still descent. A little dated, but would stay there again. Stand up shower is small or I am to big lol.

Would give this place a ZERO. Don’t waste your money!!! Doing a cross country trip, had the most amazing experiences except here. This place was AWFUL!! Very rude lady checking us in who acted like we were bothering her by paying her for a spot. Once checked in, we were verbally accosted by a drunken, belligerent permanent resident of the community who used disgusting profanity to speak to my elderly father.Go anywhere besides here.

DO NOT GO HERE! we came in from texas, they were highly rated…. First night there we went hiking and came back to the shorter girl with all the cats waiting for us… she told us that we disrespected her property due to 3 -4 cigarette butts left on the ground that we forgot to pick up before leaving. I entered The room and noticed nothing was cleaned or trash emptied etc. no new towels. I go in and ask about housekeeping and she informed me that they DO NOT provide house keeping but if we needed anything we just had to ask…. And offered me a broom lmfao so my family and i were Supposed to stay there for a week with zero housekeeping??? Never brought trash bags, only a handful of towels. Then the front desk girl had the audacity to call us and get upset that we decided to check out early 😂…. Told us we weren’t welcome there ever again (oh nooooo) i completely Understand not wanting cigarette butts laying around but if you don’t want your property disrespected and wanted it kept clean, wouldn’t you think for long term guests you would provide that service to prevent it from being dirty?!!!! Makes zero sense to me… not to mention the huge trailer park in the back… huge eye sore, super trashy… would not recommend this place even if it were free .

My partner and I had an amazing experience staying 3 nights at Dean’s Creek. Lisa and her team were some of the most hospitable and genuine people, and we felt very welcomed and taken care of. Based on what I’ve heard from some of the locals, they have really improved the resort in the last year since taking over, and we will definitely be back again. It really is a hidden gem within the Avenue of the Giants

Was traveling for a period of over 9 hours and when we had stopped in another area due to exhaustion we received a call. The woman on the line asked if we were going to make it, we politely answered that we would be unable to complete our trip. We are paying for a room we will not be able to use. The person we were speaking to told us that “we should call ahead and cancel, that’s courteous right?”. Having been alive for 30 years I understand what courtesy is. What isn’t courteous is questioning the intentions of paying guests.Would not recommend based on interaction with staff. Keep driving or stop earlier like we did.

Two stars for the fact that it was a quick on and off from 101 and has nice river access that would be great in the summer. I had plans of taking a shower here but no way in hell was I using them. By far the grossest bathroom/shower amenities I've ever seen. I wouldn't mind the people that live there full time but their campsites we're dirty and filled with trash. Don't believe I'll ever be returning

TL:DR Okay as a passing through location, not a great stay location. My parents had stayed at this location 2 years ago and said it was a total dive. Forgot the name of the place and booked again a 2 night RV stay. There's new management and a lot of the trash had been cleaned up... but how does it compare?Still you get what you pay for.The majority of the RV parking is river and creek side, so the back end of every RV site has pretty views. But that's the end of the nice things. Our particular site had a sewage intake that had a breather pipe that backed sewage out of the pipe when dumping.Pair this with the pipeline water smelling of chlorine and being a shade of orange. While they do pride themselves in cleaning up the place, the trash and refuse that was apparent before is now pushed behind the stationary RVs making the river view looking back up at the campsites terrible. There was also no enforcement of rules, when at the pool area there are multiple signs that say "hot tub for 14+ ages only" and while it is understandable that the heat wasn't on with 90°+ weather, there were still children jumping in and out.. so much for "no exceptions."The shared restroom area was also terrible, no clearly marked stalls and it looked as if walking into a shady rest stop at 2 am after a long road trip.It is a shame, as you can see there are small improvements happening. A new children's play fixture installed, and there is work being done. However more major renovations needs to happen before my family and I would ever come back.If you can spend the extra money to stay anywhere else, do so. Unless you want a place to stop on a longer camping trip then maybe, but be cautious of the water.

It's such a beautiful place to stay. A few things to do with the game room and river and sauna! Nice laundry facilities on site! I changed my review from last time saying that the staff needs to get it together. Well they did. At least the assistant manager went above and beyond! She was very helpful and I have really enjoyed my stay. Hopefully they keep treating there customers good and understand that everything is under scrutiny on the internet so being nice to customers pays off! It helps build your business online!! Thankfully the assistant manager understands this! The keep up on the rooms being too notch and up to date with everything you need. The rooms with a stove and sink come with all the plates, silverware, and cooking utensils you may need! Well done! They deserve this 5 🌟!

This was a great place to hold our DN Camp Out, a large group. We checked in Friday night and left Sunday morning. We had the lounge/kitchen to feed everyone...aside from the Flies it was great.Personally, I rented a cabin that was under construction when I was given the key. The door was wide open, and there were maintance people leaf blowing the driveway. My room was filled with dust. I mentioned this to the front desk, with no really concern on their part.Additionally, they had a band using the stage directly next to my cabin "practicing" on Friday night. While they truly had no business being called a band, We (our group, and other Group campers) cheered them on. Well after all had left the band played on...this was not Titanic.Later one member of the band went from cabin to cabin, and camp site to camp site asking for drugs! This was a family campout! The owner/on-site manager has dogs that bark their fool a$$es off all day. she also had a very poor attitude towards our group. Attempted to charge us for rooms booked on their website under our group name that did not, or weren't our Group! On a final note...There has been a HUGE issue with the waterway (the Creek)on the property, eel river-south fork. Individuals in town warned us of Dogs dying/People getting sick for the waterway ...there was NOT warning from the staff or Management!

In my opinion this Motel, needs some work on their water system. The water in the toilet was dark brown and disgusting. About 8 o'clock they turned the water off completely no shower, no toilet, no drinking water. They did bring a gallon jug of clean drinking water to the room. We actually left early to find a toilet. We were told by one of the owners that they would give us some kind of a refund, unfortunately the office wasn't open at six in the morning. This is an edited addition to my review. I must say the owner followed through and gave me a full refund on my say. I verified it by checking my credit card and the full amount was credited. So perhaps in the future give them a try check with him first to see how things are going for them. I know they recently purchased this hotel so they've got a lot of work ahead of them and I want them to succeed.
