i went looking for koi as i walked in the store it looks a bit grimey and run down.. but looks are deciving. the tropical fish are a beauty and the koi in the back are beautiful.. i ending up purchasing 6 koi. he had 5 for 100$ and he had very many different colors and styles.. of the koi i purchased they all were butterfly koi.. did i mentioned that they are beautiful 😍? well they are.. ill put pictures.. also almost forgot the gentleman let me pick out my own koi.. gave me the net and a bucket and let me go wild.. to me that was fun because i picked the exact ones and patterns i wanted..also the individual had great costumer service!!

Bought one fish from here and it gave my whole tank ich... killed all my fish. At least 500 dollars in fish dead. Fish I've had for years all gone.. do not buy from here. This place is really run down and dirty. All the pictures are old on here. Look at yelp.

Good selection, just wish the place was better lit, but overall good prices, good fish, nice guys behind the counter. Definitely a good stop for Koi and small cichlids.

I don't know where to start on this. I came here looking for a new aquarium shop on my hunt for specific species. I guess I'll start with my first impressions which was are they opened?? No one was in the shop, it was dark and very dirty. Lights barley working, and you are hit with an awful smell of ammonia and cat piss. I am perplexed as to how they are opened. Areas of trash piled up high. Rows of aquariums that have sick and dead fish, or so much algae that you can not see what's inside. Rows blocked off by a piece of wood drilled into the stands with fish at the end that don't look like they have not seen light before. Massive fish in tiny tanks. Some areas looked liked it belonged ether in a horror movie or on hoarders.

The owner was very helpful in helping me with setting up my first ever koi habitat. I went back two more times and they patiently helped me troubleshoot and get the right equipment, nothing excessive. They carry a wide variety of fish.

Intro/Prices: First off. I have been coming here since 1999. 20 years! Let me tell you, no one has better prices on fish than Hope(owner). Not even close. Small/Medium sized Cichlids-$5.99. Global Aquatics charges $14.99. Petsmart/Petco - $12.99 and up for small Cichlids. Walmart charges $8.00 and up for super small Cichlids(it's a gamble with Walmart fishes the are often sick). Fontana Tropical Pets charges $29.99. No BS! It's a fact that this is the cheapest place!Customer Service: Hope and his Friend Al are great guys. They are always helpful, Always smiling, Always have time to give advice and ideas. I have never felt rushed or bothered in anyway. They greet my 6 year old and give him love and attention. Hope helps teach my Son a bit of Mandarin every time we come in. Al plays great music and also has plenty of fish wisdom. I refuse to go anywhere else.Fish: I recently bought about 17 fish (Cichlids/Plecostmus/Silver Dollars) for my 45 Gallon Upright Octagon tank. I also bought about 25 assorted community fish for my Son's 45 Gallon Standard tank. No fish died. I'll say that again, No fish died! When I was younger and frequenting this location my fish did not die either. Hope knows his stuff. I read other reviews stating that there are tons of dead fish. This is not true. They have to be bad customers. Every single fish place will have a few dead fish here and there. There is no getting around that. That is part of the business. Fish get stressed and often sick being transported from here to there. Hope sells healthy fish. Period!Cleanliness: Is this place filthy? No. Is it immaculate? No. Remember, this place has been here for over 20 years. The building is old. He has accumulated a lot of stuff. Two Males run this place and they get super busy helping people and taking care of stock. The cleanliness is more than OK and that is all that matters. Come to the best Fish Store around!

I don’t even know where to start , walking in , it’s obvious that it’s not well kept up , after saying hello to the shop keeper and him replying with a blank stare , I look around , the shelf’s are super bare,barely anything,they have the casual fish food pellets and measly plastic decor. Turning the corner it seems they have some Java fern for sale that seemed to be the healthiest thing in the shop , but I’d would still wouldn’t trust it . Going down the fish isles , it’s clear that the owner can care less about cleanliness and the quality environment for the fish , tons of dead fish I get it if it’s here and there but there was just too many that were deceased . The fish were visibly sick. Cobwebs were all over the place ! The tanks were obviously not kept up with regular maintenance.after going down their depressing fish isle i walk my way out ,saying bye , the shopkeeper didn’t acknowledge me weirdly ,as me being the only person in there .0/10(please refrain from buying any type of live stock from this establishment I wouldn’t risk it even if the prices are a little bit lower)( if you come into this store don’t expect anything good at all , no good fish , decor and customer service

The fish store of death. The tanks are dirty and there’s always dead and dying fish. The store itself is unkept and smells like death as you walk further into the place. The owner there, in my opinion, is too judgmental of his customers; he thought I was poor or something, because whenever I asked about a particular one, he would give me an outrageous price and laugh. I don’t like being insulted. I’ve dropped serious money on pets. After that exchange I certainly won’t spend my money there again.

Had a nice selection of fish. Great prices. Some fish were dead he had not yet taken out but it was 10:05 he had just opened, so I'm guessing he hadn't gotten to cleaning them out yet.

DONT buy your KOI from HERE!I originally gave this place 4 starts but now I'm changing my mind because I thought they had a good price of koi and guppies which they do but it came at a cost.... their koi GAVE MY 4+year koi ICH which is a DEADLY INFECTION that koi get when new infected koi are introduced!!! I will never be shopping here and that place is dirty and needs to shut down or needs new owners it's disgusting how they keep their fish... DONT SHOP HERE FOR KOI or any fish

Good stock of supplies for aquariums and the ponds. Fish and aqua plants in the back back too. We bought 5 butterfly goldfish, all are happy and healthy in our pond— except one died a week after we purchase. It probably got too stress during transport 🤷🏻‍♀️ we tried to rehab it but didn’t work out. I would still purchase again, current four are beautiful, happy, and flourishing!

I can’t comment on the Koi here, since I know nothing about koi or their upkeep. I will say that when I went to look out back at the koi, that did seem to be the best kept area of the store. I still am unsure how this place has an average of a 4 star rating, which I absolutely hate to say because I want small businesses to thrive in Pomona. I gave an extra star to make-up for my lack of knowledge about Koi.Inside of the store:was packed with old boxes, old and broken equipment. I could not easily walk down the aisles due to clutter and trash, shelves have little to no stock.Aquariums:Dirty, disgustingly so, many with several dead fish. Listen, fish die and I could see there being a dead fish here and there. It happens. The volume of the dead fish for the size of the selection was concerning. Obviously I didn’t pull out my test kit and test the water quality, but I would be shocked to see good quality results.Selection of fish (not including Koi):I found the selection lacking. You can definitely find your standard species here, as well as some interesting larger fresh water fish, but I wouldn’t depend on any of them being healthy. There were also some pretty goldfish species, but again, I wouldn’t purchase confidently from this store and certainly would not want to put ANY of these fish into a community tank without quarantining them first. When I thought of buying a fish here, I was thinking about it in terms of a rescue…I hated writing this review. I prefer to write positive reviews and experiences, and I don’t like that this could affect the owner’s livelihood. I felt sidelined when I visited the store thinking it wouldn’t be amazing, but should be a 4 star experience. I know this review is a drop in the bucket, but am hopeful some will find it helpful so they can make an informed prior to visiting the store. And maybe the owners will even consider finding their passion for fish again, and make changes to let that passion shine.

I went yesterday to check this place out. I was disgusted. It is filthy. There is a whole portion of the store that you can't walk through because of piled up trash and broken dusty equipment. The tanks were dirty, I felt terrible for the quality of life these fish have. Tons of large "tank buster" fish in set ups way too small for them. Shelves covered in dust and cobwebs. Tanks full of alge and brown water. Dead fish in many of the tanks.

They sold me a tank that is an off size. Nothing fits for it. The caulking in the inside looks like it was done by a blind person. I cannot find any of things that go along with a 30 gallon tank to fit. If you go in there as a beginner beware. They just want to sell you stuff and get you out of the store.

6 koi for $18! They carry a variety of fish from salt water to fresh water. They also have koi that you can catch yourself

I've come here many times and the fish are cheap and he has a good variety of fish, including some exotic plecos. All of his tanks are a mess though and some of my fish have died soon after I purchase them possibly because they are kept in bad conditions. Buy at your own risk.

The owner Sal he failed to maintain our pond. First time did complete pond clean ,power wash and told us just to add one algae bar per month to control algae growth. He told us he will come back after 2 months and will drain half water only to maintain the pond. However, the condition of the pond was bad with too much algae. He came with his assistant and drained complete pond water; knowing the fact that we had many koi fishes in. He did not care about the fishes. Was in a hurry to finish his job; not communicating well. The fishes are in stress now and one koi fish died , he kept claiming that it not koi fish but it is gold fish. Also the filtering pump UV bulb he damaged. When called he said that we have to pay ; he is not responsible for that . On his first visit he gave us a mini pump for pond ; which was defective and he replaced. Not sure how long this will last. Very unprofessional person.

This place is in need of some clean up. But... If you don't mind the mess...the prices are the best I have found in all inland empire for tropical fish and Koi fish! The owner is knowledgeable and very helpful. I purchased three gouramis plus some food. Can't beat the price I paid so... I'm happy! 😄🐡🐠🐟

Owners do not care about helping customers and will only serve “when you are ready.” Alongside that, they gave me 9 fish when I paid for 10 and I’m disappointed because now my community tank is missing one fish. However, they do have nice fish.

The prices and the selection are amazing! They have really great Corydoras for cheap. The prices on Tetra are really good. The décor is awful and the place is dingy, but its worth it. The staff is helpful and the fish are healthy and well fed. I would highly recommend this place.

This place is awesome. My son and I have been going there since he learned to walk. My son would drag me there every day to look at the fish and the owner and staff were always super gracious and welcoming. I would never go there for the non-aquarium pets as the selection is lacking. But for fish, and especially koi, you'd be foolish to shop elsewhere. They breed and raise the koi other stores are selling. So cut out the middle man, save money and buy from a greater selection here.
