Like most other reviewers, I had a similar opinion. Sandwiches are way overpriced for what you get. $40 for 2 sandwiches when they are using store bought bread and cold cuts is very poor value. Also, we were the only ones there, and it still took quite a while to make 2 sandwiches. Bare, depressing shelves and refrigerators, most items on the shelves were simply bulk boxed items from Costco. The sandwiches weren't bad, but it's a very bad value and not anything you couldn't make at home. I can't recommend this deli unless there's nowhere else to go, or long lines elsewhere.

I ordered a tri tip sando I was surprisedIt was $20.50.. Dry and over cooked/microwaved, the tri tip tasted like it it was marinated in Taco Bell sauce. The bread was soggy. I usually devour all foods and never complain. In fact this is the first negative review I’ve left anywhere since 2013.I will be going to IP market in Inverness instead of this place when I’m craving a sando. Trust me when I say this go anywhere but this place.

We live in Novato and drive past this place frequently on our way to Point Reyes. It looks cool from the outside so we stopped in last week for lunch. Big mistake. The guy at the counter was extremely rude, acting like it was an imposition that we were in the restaurant and he had to take our order. The crab cake sandwiches were overpriced and terrible. The "crab" cakes were mostly bread and soggy. Oh and they don't have a bathroom for you to use. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!

$16 for a sandwich that looks like it would be served at a school lunch. Bare minimum ingredients (a single piece of lettuce on a veggie sandwich) and store sliced bread. We asked for ours to be put on a roll and the cashier told us they were out of rolls. However he let a family that ordered after us get all of theirs on rolls?No bathrooms, no trash cans inside, tables are greasy and dirty, drinks and chips are nearly an extra $10. This place makes Subway look like a luxury establishment.

This place was the least busiest when we wanted to eat. Just a simple place that was clean with a large room, that would accommodate a lot of people, just not many tables. They weren’t serving Mexican food that day, I was disappointed. Although the crab cake sandwich was delicious and I would have missed out. They were also awesome enough to make my wife a salad, that was not on the menu, she doesn’t eat bread. Also they have the best selection of HARBIO gummies I have ever seen. HARBIO was Michael Jackson’s favorite candy. Go here first when in town. You won’t regret it. You are in for a whale of good service here.

Great place to get tasty Mexican food. Their 3 tacos plates are excellent. Tried their tortas later on and they were amazing as well. They do make pizzas too. They looked very tasty but we just didn't have the room to try them. Totally recommend them.

Deli is disgusting and very overpriced. Lights off, flies flying around everywhere over dirty tables, shelves empty with no chips, and fridges empty with only 3 kinds of drinks. I ordered 2 Turkey lurkey sandwiches and it came to $41. They gave me cold proccesed Oscar Meyer ham that would be sold at Safeway for $2 which was the wrong kind of meat. It was supposed to be turkey and cranberry, no cheese on it. And the smallest piece of brown lettuce I have ever seen. No bathroom for customers. I feel like I was robbed. They should just close down and call it. STAY AWAY!

This place is ok. The food I would consider pricey and service is kinda slow. My friend waited 35 mins for his sandwhich. He was nice, very friendly and also tipped for the self service yet he didn't get a good service from them.Overall: So so soPrice is pricy 3 tacos for $15Service 2-3 starsNot even a restroom for paying customers, flies inside and the place is hot.If you are really that hungry the food maybe ok but be warned you could be waiting for a long time even though they have 1 person in the register and 2 people in the kitchen and take note self-serve place.

Deceptive Advertising, Poor Service, and Overpriced - Stay Away!My recent experience at Whale of A Deli left me utterly dissatisfied, and I feel obligated to share my negative encounter to protect others from a similar unpleasant ordeal. I visited this establishment with the anticipation of savoring a pulled pork sandwich featuring their supposedly homemade BBQ sauce. However, what transpired was far from what was promised.After placing my order for the pulled pork sandwich, my excitement turned to disbelief as I witnessed the staff using a cheap and ordinary Sweet Baby Ray's sauce instead of the advertised homemade BBQ sauce. This was a clear case of false advertising, and I expressed my concerns to the staff, hoping for a resolution.After debating with the staff about how they shouldn’t advertise this, they offered to make another sandwich but after 30 minutes of waiting they merely presented me with the same original sandwich. As a result, the once warm but falsely advertised sandwich was now further cold and unappetizing. When I asked them to prioritize the new sandwich, they outright refused, insisting that I either accept the falsely advertised sandwich they were charging an outrageous $19 for or take a refund. The lack of accountability and customer service was astonishing.Even more so, they left the menu as is, continuing to false advertise their food!!!!!!It is unacceptable for an establishment to promote a signature item on their menu, only to deliver something entirely different. The audacity to charge a premium price for an inferior product is a blatant disregard for customers' trust and hard-earned money.Whale of A Deli's behavior throughout this experience was unacceptable. The food quality did not live up to their claims, and the service was utterly lacking in professionalism and customer care. I caution anyone contemplating a visit to Whale of A Deli to reconsider. There are plenty of other reputable eateries in the vicinity that genuinely value their customers and provide both honest advertising and quality food. Spare yourself the frustration and avoid this place at all costs.

We got a teriyaki sub. Waited 30 minutes for an overpriced dry sandwich that was mostly bread with microwaved chicken and lettuce. The rest of the ingredients were missing. Restaurant was understaffed, but continued taking orders without warning people their order would take a long time. Many customers were visibly frustrated including us. Also they don’t have a bathroom.

It took over 20 minutes to get a sandwich. We were the only people in the Deli . It cost 18.00 for a sandwich and a drink. We asked to put avocado on half of the sandwich, and they said no. We asked why he said because we We don't do that. The sandwich had only two small slices of meat on the sandwich. It was a waste of money . Would never go back.

Very overpriced. Should be renamed "The Fifty Dollar Deli" because that's what you need for about 4 items. I didn't have anything to drink to keep the price under $62 for 3 adults and two little kids. One of the kids had nothing to eat....he didn't want anything they had

Service was pretty slow. It's expensive fir a sandwich ($18), but the sandwich (BLT) was very good. No restrooms. Parking is limited. There aren't many choices in town, so it they don't need amenities like the ability to wash your hands before eating.

Ok, the sandwich was really good, I will say that... Like REALLY good... It's still just not quite worth a repeat trip for the prices they charge (like just under $20 for the sandwich alone). Couple that with the cold shoulder treatment and overall subpar customer service, and I was hard pressed to even give the 3 stars.... The only saving grace from my visit was that sandwich. From the bread, to the mountains of bacon, and noticeably fresh ingredients... It was almost, ALMOST, worth the price they charge 🤣. I suppose part of it is the location, but still, c'mon now.

Trash. And expensive trash. While I give the location some credit. 30 dollar pizza seems crazy for a 16 inch. After waiting 40 minutes we get the wrong pizza entirely. It's half cooked basically dough and cheese and are told they can't fix it after its been cooked. The sandwiches were meh at best for 17 bucks a peice. Just don't go here.

I came here looking for something quick I could eat on the go as I didn't have enough time to sit at a table and eat seafood, as delicious as that idea did sound!Saw this sandwich spot and thought I'd give it a try. Ordered the turkey cranberry and it was very plain. Just basic cold turkey and cranberry sauce with some veggies. Not even any special sauce inside or anything to make it stand out in any way.Honestly I wish there was a Subway somewhere in the area, they have more variety and I'd have enjoyed a sandwich from there more.

Ordered two burritos, they were made of some cheap ingredients from caned food discount store. No fresh salsa. Some trace of avocado. No letus. One burrito was with chicken and another was with steak. Both were too over-salty, we barely could finish one with beef . They call it steak, but it was some over-salted staff from a can with some cheap sauce on the top, it was not stake even close. (we put in a garbage the one with chicken ). For both these awful burritos we were charged $30. No bathroom. Not recommended.

We ordered two sandwiches, pulled pork and teriyaki chicken. They were both terrible. We didn’t eat them and threw them in the garbage. They were both cold and covered in so much sauce it was impossible to even take a bite. It was like they scooped some shredded meat onto the bread from the fridge and put a cup of sauce from a bottle on top and wrapped it up. I went back up to the counter to ask about what was going on and she said they could make them again, but at that point we were not interested in eating there anymore. Two stars for the friendly service and offering to make it right, but this place was waaay overpriced and not tasty. In the end I blame myself for not looking at the reviews before we stopped, clearly the worst reviews of all the restaurants nearby.

I'm only reviewing this based on it's deli food. The spot itself is pretty drab but it really doesn't matter because the deli itself is so damn good. Their subs were absolutely delicious and I could see in what else they were making that they really know what they're doing. If you're trying to find a spot that is all sorts of fancy this isn't your spot, but if you're looking to grab some really good deli food and chat with very kind staff this is the place for you. They also have adult beverages.
