Curated book selection like no other! Literature, history, fiction and nonfiction bestsellers of course — but they take it to another level with never seen elsewhere books on nature, landscape, environment, design and color. Oh and the nature guide books! This is my fav bookstore on earth!

Hello Stephen;(We think your book store DOES NOT like to SELL BOOKS......our story follows.....)I see from your profile that you have travelled to Morocco: a great place to study architecture, and of different lifestyle; good to hear.TODAY, I was thrown out of your wonderful POINT REYES bookstore in Point Reyes, at about 3 PM.That was FUN.I came to pick up several "backordered books' , by the title DOGTOWN CHRONICLES.I knew the owner of the house that these chronicles dwell on, and had hoped to read these personal Chronicles this weekend.The STORY:I come to Point Reyes frequently, to buy the Point Reyes three dollar coins, at the Palace Markey, prior to often buying these tokens of appreciation from the prior owners of your bookstore. Last Saturday, I had for the first time heard of the book, Dogtown Chronicles, and immediately wandered to your bookstore to purchase a copy or two. None were on the shelves! The originator of the Point Reyes three dollar coins, Richard Kirchmann owned the 'farm' where all of Doris' stories of their animals lived.The very courteous salesperson said she would call the writer of that book, Doris, and ask if she had any more personalized copies in her shelves. "Peter, please call me later in the day to see if there were any more copies available from Doris." I proply called twice that afternoon, and was finally told that the very courteous sales person would personally pick several copies on Wednesday of most recent time. I replied, "great, I'll come by this week-end to pick up severl copies".All good so far.Today, I eagerly came by your bookstore, and asked the 'new' salesperson, if my special order had arrived yet.........and looking at the far left of the sales counter, THERE THEY WERE......there were three fresh copies of DOGTOWN CHRONICLES."Yes, I'll take them all".The sales person said, "no", they are not in the system yet."i'll give you my credit card number, and figure it out later""NO!!""Well, that is stupid", said Peter."You are calling me stupid....??""Well, perhaps that may be the case", said Peter."Two people spent a great deal of time getting those books to your store, I hope you know"."Please leave this book store immediately....!!""But, I am here to buy books.....!?!""You must leave immediately.....!!"Well, I left with no books, dejected, as one does, leaving a bookstore without books.I came back 30 minutes later, asking if I could, "buy those three books, please"."NO, " as the sales person scowled and continued to ignore me.The sales person is one with.......an attitude......and NOT very helpful, I would judge, and she does NOT like to sell books!Hope this helps make your bookstore a more pleasant place to visit ........in the future............Pleasantly yours,Peter IrlenbornFormerly of:246 Dogwood Ave.Bolinas, Ca.

I can't say enough about the fantastic book selection at Point Reyes Books. It's as if it was curated just for me. So many great books and only so much would fit in my suitcase. I ordered on-line and the books arrived within days all the way to the midwest. It's a great stop when traveling through CA, in an area with other shops and cafes.

I visit bookstores in all the towns I visit and this is one of the best and most well curated little shops I've been to. They carry a range of current titles and local recs. Its a lovely, happy place in a very cute little town. It's a gem of a bookstore and the perfect way to soak in some local literary culture and to pick up local guidebooks and intel on the surrounding area.

This is my favorite book shop. They offer current best sellers, regionally unique books and used / antique books. I could spend hours in here. The staff is quite friendly, knowledgeable and courteous. Grab a coffee next door and be prepared to lose yourself in the selection.

I live 3 miles from this bookstore. It's always a joy to stop by. They have a wonderful collection of books. They always greet you with a smile and are very helpful. My 2 and 4 year old really like it as well. My favorite is their nature and wildlife section.

Surprisingly large and varied selection of books from local, regional, and national authors. I was looking specifically for a book about Bolinas (“The Town That Fought to Save Itself”) and while they didn’t have it in stock, the gentleman working the front desk was friendly and helpful. Not only is the selection quite large, but the do a great job at selecting and placing the books in interesting arrangements.

I work at a bookstore myself (Copperfield's Books in Sonoma County) and can't pass by a bookstore without popping in. Why would I need to buy books elsewhere? I'll tell you why -- this store, with both new and used books, had quirky, interesting used titles in all their sections, and I couldn't resist their prices. I bought used books in psychology, kids, eastern religion, and fiction.I found Point Reyes a tourist town that is not particularly welcoming to tourists, with public restrooms hard to find, indifferent service, and difficult public parking on a weekday (perhaps employees park in front of their stores all day because it's free?), but this bookstore made it all worthwhile. I can't imagine going to Point Reyes again without stopping here. This store has "the owner's touch," with the sensibility of one who reads and who truly loves books.
