An absolutely incredible place to stay! After traveling all day from Maine, this place was exactly what we needed. Peaceful and calming, the staff was extremely friendly, especially Karen who made us feel welcome and taken care of. The rooms are spacious and we sat and watched the waves come in over a bottle of wine on our balcony. We only stayed one night but immediately regretted not staying at least 2 or 3. We will be back!

My mother and I stayed here on a whim while making our way up the northern California coast. This ended up being our favorite part of the trip! The inn itself was beautiful with views of the ocean and surfers below, relaxing courtyard with fountain sounds and games, and very friendly staff (shout-out to Karen!). They had coffee and pastries ready for us in the morning and a complimentary cheese and wine spread one of the evenings we stayed. It's a 4 minute walk down to the pier with a cafe and two restaurants, all staffed with friendly locals many of whom we saw surfing before their shift. The inn has a private entrance to the Stornetta trail which has beautiful views of the coastline and can take you all the way to the lighthouse. Great vibe and somewhere we plan to visit again! Also if you visit check out B Bryan Preserve.. you can feed Giraffes!Walkability: Four minute walk to the beach, two restaurants and a coffee shop

Loved everything about it. Amazing hospitality with morning coffee and treats ready for guests at 8 am. Lovely rooms with access to miles of headland trails to be enjoyed by the jacuzzi hot tubs. It was so nice that we could stay in a pet friendly room and bring our fur baby with us. A very special and magical place. Thank you, Karen and staff for a wonderful stay.

Truly a one-of-a-kind place nestled in the cove at Point Arena. Clean, private, quiet stay with an awesome view. It's clear the owners have taken great care of the rooms and grounds, including the in-room jetted tub, trail access, and a neat games area outside with Cornhole and axe throwing. We had the fortune and pleasure of meeting the owners at the attached bar. They were charming, fun, and went out of their way to make sure our stay was perfect.I recommend the Wharf Master's Inn to anyone traveling the Northern California Coast, and we'll stay here again our next visit!

Karen was awesome and so friendly. I just needed a room for a family wedding and she made it happen. My room was clean, quite, and safe....really all I needed and wanted. Close to venue and the ocean!A caution to those with mobility issues, this probably isn't the best choice for you. If I am ever in the area, I would definitely stay here again.

The restaurants that we tried were good, like the pizza spot and the Japanese restaurant the room we stayed was nice and spacious with a jacuzzi tub that we liked. Staff was amazing helped with all the questions we had gave good recommendations for food things to do very very nice they made us feel at home highly recommend this place to get away and relax.

Stayed for a few days for a work trip. Service was fantastic. Food nearby seems to be limited on Tuesday, but the hotel offers room service. In the lobby, there's a selection of beer and wine to purchase as well. The rooms are stocked with wine glasses and a bottle opener if you don't have your own.Looking forward to staying again!

My dearly beloved and I decided to spend our tenth anniversary on the coast and to our pleasant surprise I booked the second night at Wharfmasters Inn.We arrived early and drove down Port road in Point Arena to see a spectacular coastal setting. Then we looked up the hill and saw beautiful Wharfmasters Inn. Driving up to meticulously maintained grounds and courtyard we waited for check in. Minutes later a very friendly woman with a lovely smile greeted us and said she was checking on some rooms and will help us shortly. Karen (turned out she's the owner) brought us into the office. I must admit I had no idea how spectacular the room views were and being kinda frugal had reserved the least expensive room, the one without a view. For a nominal fee Karen quickly upgraded us to one of the best. She walked us to our room (rarely have we ever had the owner do this) and proudly showed us around and oh my goodness I couldn't believe how beautiful the place was and the view is breath taking. I walked out on the generous veranda and was left speechless. This couldn't have been more perfect and never expected it. A level of relaxation started to set in for us that we hadn't felt in years. The bed was king and so comfortable. Bathtub big, new and jetted. Everything clean and pristene. Oh and because restaurants are limited in the area great room service with quality food. Plenty of free coffee and amenities. We just sat without thought for the first time in years doing nothing but loving each other and listening to the sea. Our stay at Wharfmasters Inn couldn't have been more perfect for us. We left feeling rejuvinated and happy! We are looking forward to spending our eleventh anniversary there only this time at least three nights not one. Thank you so much Karen for a fabulous experience and wish you happiness and prosperity!Dan and Jessica

Where do you start? I was hunting around for a gorgeous view of the ocean to hide out from reality for a few days, and wow. Nailed it. Karen's absolutely delightful, super friendly and helpful with the stay. It's a perfect spot on the coast, with incredibly comfortable rooms, and if you want sunsets from your balcony every night? Why not. Quiet property, very relaxing. Great meals if you're not up for going out, and close enough to other spots if you are. The trail leading up to the coastal cliffs is incredible, absolutely gorgeous views of the Pacific, with most of it being quite level and well traversed.I might have walked ten miles without realizing it, and had a jacuzzi tub waiting when I got back. Seriously, perfect. I hope to see y'all again!

Staying here was a bucket list item for us as we have visited Point Arena many times over the past 35 years. We decided to finally come for our anniversary and we were not disappointed! Karen, the owner and manager, is doing an amazing job and was a delight to meet. Personal touches everywhere and the most beautiful and comfortable room. The view made us not want to leave, and we decided that two nights is just not enough. We enjoyed the trail that starts behind the hotel and takes you up to and around the coastal bluffs - you can take it all the way to the lighthouse if you are ambitious! Saw whales, seals and lots of coastal birds on a beautiful day. Next time we hope to also try some of the room service options. We will definitely be back. Thank you for helping us make some incredible memories, Karen!

We felt super comfortable at the Wharf Masters Inn in Point Arena with Karen and Cliff. It is a great, clean, friendly and quiet hotel with a great view from the balcony over the Pacific. Our room was very well appointed and the breakfast menu is great. The service staff are all helpful and nice. We did not eat dinner, we had already done that before check in. We have on the terrace very good wine served including campfire. Thank you for the wonderful stay with you. We can only recommend the accommodation!Noteworthy details: Sehr guten Wein

We stopped in with no plan. How wonderfully surprised we were. We were first greeted by a very cheerful and kind couple that own and operate the Inn. The rooms are beautifully appointed, the views are beyond belief from every room! The price is below expectations and below what they could charge if they wanted to do so. In summary, if you’re looking for an unforgettable and amazing experience you’ll find it here at The Wharfmaster Inn.

You truly don’t need to look any further for one of the most beautiful Inn’s on the coast.Every detail of this gorgeous boutique inn has been considered for the comfort of the guests. From the outside gardens and fountains, to the magnificent rooms, to the lovely restaurant. While we had booked the reservation mainly for the ocean view and the sound of the waves for a good night’s sleep (we stayed in a Queen Suite), we could not believe our eyes when we stepped into the room. Every. Single. Detail. The room is exquisite, from the decor to the cleanliness…oh and did I mention how amazingly comfortable the bed and pillows are? I am quite picky about the mattress I sleep on, and clearly they spared no expense when it came to the beds, the pillows, the sheets, and the blankets. This Inn is designed for serenity, and with the private hiking trail through beautiful trees and along the coast, only accessible by guests through a gate at the back of the property, the peaceful atmosphere, the quiet rooms, the ambiance - everything about our stay was pure tranquility. I would suggest taking a book so you can sit and read on your own private deck or in the garden while watching for whales below (we saw whales and seals while hiking just a few steps away). However, after a gorgeous hike, whale watching, looking out at the waves with a glass of wine on the deck, and a luxurious jetted bath in the room, I didn’t quite stay awake long enough to crack the book. We have decided we are going to stay longer the next time because one night just simply isn’t enough. One other important note is just how welcoming the new owners and their employees are with each and every guest. (Don’t confuse this new Inn with the old Inn.) This has been completely renovated and both Karen and Cliff are so genuinely hospitable and have worked hard to make this the retreat that it is today, and it shows. We can’t thank them enough for making our stay such a beautiful experience. We will definitely be visiting again soon.

Everything around this place makes it the perfect spot for a tranquil, peaceful and sight-seeing escape.I stayed in the Superior Port - Queen room, the view is absolutely breath-taking, comfortable bed and the oversized jetted-tub is definitely a plus if relaxing and having a glass of wine is your thing! They also have the softest bathrobes and bath bombs for sale at the lobby to enhance your experience. Please know, though it is well explained on their website that Point Arena, CA is a very small town with limited dining options, and everything closes by 8 pm.If escaping reality is your type of vacation, The Wharf Master's Inn is your choice!

One of the best find ever! I found my self driving down the PCH 1 and discovered this lil hotel tucked away, beachfront and pet friendly! Just make sure to be responsible with your pets so you dont spoil it for the rest of us! Some restaurants at the wharf, and pretty solid left and right handed surf breaks, pretty rad nobody out. Will be coming back, karen and cliff are awesome

Very relaxing spot. Suuuuuuper clean and the perfect spot to land after a stressful day of traveling. The owner is very accommodating. The grounds are perfectly eclectic. Hiking/walking trails are near to check out as well. We loved sleeping with the window open listening to the sounds of the sea.

One of the most awesome places we’ve ever stayed!!! My boyfriend and I stayed here on a whim a couple weeks ago and could not have been happier with the entire experience. Karen is truly an amazing host, making sure everything is accommodated and comfortable. There’s a beautiful hike right outside of the hallways accessible only through the inn’s gate and a great ocean view really from all the rooms. We had a courtyard view room and still felt like we had such an amazing view from our balcony!!!Genuinely one of the most welcoming and hospitable places, I will definitely be returning to the Wharf Masters Inn.

Stayed here and loved it. Karen and the staff were amazing. They were friendly and helpful and the view was great the room was clean and comfortable. If it was easier for me to get to would go back for a longer stay. Only regret is we were just there overnight and we wish it was a longer visit.Rooms: WonderfulFood & drinks: F&b in the area is limited but they advertise that as well.

Nothing terrible here but we were disappointed. Our room was kind of drab. The hotel is far from most local restaurants and attractions. The view from our room was a let down. Our ocean view side balcony was basically in a parking lot. Wifi was bad, so it was hard to use as a good home base for adventure. We basically stayed away during our time here.Rooms: Our room felt drab and out of date.Nearby activities: Not close to many restaurants. A few are nearby.Noteworthy details: The view from our ocean view room wasn't as good as we'd hoped. The ocean was off to the side and there's a bunch of orange safety fencing around that makes it much less cute.

The Wharf Masters Inn is the perfect getaway on the coast. Right next to ocean, the view is out of this world. Karen and Cliff are the most welcoming, attentive people and they will truly make your stay unforgettable. The room it self was very clean, and staff was delightful. Don’t forget to try the Gumbo while you’re there! It was definitely the best I have ever had.

The Wharf Master Inn is the most amazing relaxing peaceful comfortable tranquil place along the California coast. KAREN the owner is so special, one that really cares and actually walks you to your room...Karen is really here to make your stay special. You have your own balcony to view the ocean just feet away . It was amazing to sleep and here the waves crash in such a cozy bed. The rooms are beautiful and clean and the have everything you could want . The grounds are beautiful and clean . I don't really do reviews but your kidding yourself if you don't stay here. It is my favorite spot now. The price is amazing for what they offer...this place should be a top rated place in California. If you want to get away and enjoy a place where you can just relax and unwind and enjoy the ocean this place is the most relaxing place there is.
