My favorite PFE location in Contra Costa County! The staff is so friendly to me and my doggie Charlie. They will know you and your dog by name if you frequent long enough! It’s not only a great place to get your pet needs but to socialize/hang!

The staff here is SO FRIENDLY and SO NICE! They went above and beyond to help me today. I was in Martinez for an appointment and stopped in at their other location, but they didn't have the crate I needed. They told me I could order the crate online and pick up in store for 20% off. So I ordered from this store in Pleasant Hill, and the email said it would be ready at 5:30 pm. I live over an hour away so I called and asked if I could pick it up early since I was in town now and they said ABSOLUTELY and had it ready for me in TEN MINUTES! Now this isn't always possible because they could have many online orders to fill, but I think it was very nice for them to go out of their way for me today.The worker also helped me pick out a special brush for my beagle (my dog loves it) and carried the heavy crate to my car and loaded it up! Excellent staff, exceptional customer service and very friendly.The products are top notch, I bought some toys and treats (including a cookie decorated to look like a hot dog, so cute!) Evening though I had already bought a bunch from the other store too.There are hundreds of products available, so many different high quality dog and cat foods. I even saw a bird section there if I'm not mistaken. Toys, clothes, bedding, and even GROOMING available.10/10(Photo is of a dog Biscuit I bought here that is decorated like a hot dog!)

The staff at Pet Food Express are friendly & helpful. They directed me to my desired item. I went to get my fur babies heartworm meds. I don't feel it's necessary to draw blood to make sure heartworms aren't present, but it was required. My dog has been on this since she was 4 months old, so test was negative. I will return to store again soon, (treats are running low)

The staff are super helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. They also have a great exchange policy and just let us switch out things when they didn't work out with our new cat. They were a very stress-free part of our adoption process and a great store to visit!

Great staff, always helpful and friendly. The pet wash area is easy to use and clean. They also have a buy 3 get 1 free on almost everything, food, treats, toys. Can be a real cost saver if you have a place to store things. I mean a free bag of dog food if I buy 3? That's significant savings. The dogs gotta eat, might as well stock up.

Love my neighborhood PetFood Express!The people that work here are great, and they know their stuff. Always extremely accommodating with whatever you need, and they are super with returns! My go-to place for all my pet needs :-) they also have a vaccination clinic and adoption events. I adopted my cat about 6 or 7 years ago at the location in Concord, and have gotten my current dog's microchip here. They also have a great dog washing station and provide towels, dryers and shampoo and conditioner

STOP! Don't go anywhere else! So helpful every time I go AND they accept open products you were unable to use for whatever reason with receipt. I came in because my cat was very ill and not eating and the wonderful girl at the register helped me tremendously. She recommended their new hemp oil now on sale to aid with inflammation AND comped me wonderful refrigerated natural food to tempt our kitty. They are the BEST!!

Staff always helpful and can answer questions with confidence and knowledge. They will always say hello and smile when you enter and ask if they can help with anything. This is the only Pet Food Express I go to. I just wish they stayed open later.UPDATE:After covid seems in-store atmosphere and staff had changed. Found "Danielle" who was there from a different location that day, extremely rude and unable to assist me with my routine shopping and she said staff had been charging incorrectly and I could no longer shop my buy 3 get the 4th free with this product. I tried to explain my shopping habits and how I'd been a loyal customer. Spending 95+% of all my dogs ,cats, and bird products costs. Staying loyal to this particular neighborhood store for over 5 years now. Beginning with adopting two cats 5 yrs ago. Properly caring for any animal is expensive, that's just basic care. When you feed many animals a raw diet that gets costly. Their are many many products and services animals needs daily. To be rude to a loyal customer is the worst way to treat your neighborhood. Danielle tells me how she happens to be a supervisor and that there was nothing she could do to help. I mentioned to her that maybe I should start shopping elsewhere, although that's not what I wanted, if they no longer would work with me with the buy 3 get 4th free. Anyway Danielle says to me that it's fine If I take my business elsewhere and gives me a business card writes her name on it and the name of the two gentleman who own the business . I have since stopped shopping there. That whole situation was unreal. My small local business treated me like they no longer wanted my money, so now Petco ships my needs to me. Danielle is the face of your business and her attitude is the ONLY REASON I no longer spend money in your business. If the owners care about me discouraging anyone/everyone from shopping in your store, feel free to reach out to. I would love to have a discussion about it. I feel local businesses should understand why folks in their neighborhood are willing to drive across town to shop elsewhere. Sometimes it can be a simple fix, work around. Good luck.

The employees at the Pleasant Hill Pet express store are the most incredible people ever!!My puppy Toby run out of food, but when I made it to the store, they were already close, but even though they were already closed for the day, they went out of their way to give me some food for my puppy so he would not go hungry.I want to thank the amazing people at this store for their generosity and their kindness towards my puppy Toby.

The staff did an excellent job on teaching me the difference between all the different types of food for my puppy and they have a great return policy in case the brand of food doesn't work out for him. They have good prices too! I have shopped all the petco's, petsmart's and these guys have my business for sure.

Only been here a couple of times but the prices were so freaking outrageous oh my gosh. They have some really nice stuff I guess if you're rich and you likes to spend more money than you need to. I go to text or not if I really good food for my dog he eats better than I do but I certainly don't need to go to the store and have it cooked for him first exaggerating of course but the prices are just way way too high so I'm not sure just got money to burn. I suggest Petco down the street. I usually give good reviews but I usually give reviews about places I go through a lot I don't go here very much I just noticed it's being reviewed. I called to ask what time they were closing and was told "in one minute". I asked if there could stay open 3-4 more minutes, and they agreeably agreed, and welcomed me to get my pet purchase!This is not the only time I have frequented this pet store for my many pet needs having had many cats and now a puppy.I'm looking forward to taking my Yorkie puppy to classes starting soon. I appreciate everything about this store, inside and out, meaning easy access and good parking, too. Great people work there!Thanks!

Last year I converted from that other company to Pet Food Express and I just regret not having done so sooner. What a pleasure to visit and shop! And the service at this location is particularly knowledgeable and accommodating. Thank you to everyone that helped me yesterday find the best food for my kitties. They are enjoying it now and I'm already planning my next trip. Do not go anywhere else for your pet supplies. Pet Food Express is the only option!

Great staff that is always helpful and ready to answer questions. They have a place inside for do it yourself dog washing. This is a great service. A very large selection of products for dogs, cats and birds. Have not seen a lot if any for other types of pets unless what your looking for would be dual purpose for the other pets

I love PetFoodExpress despite the fact I am usually not a fan of retail chains. PetFoodExpress is definitely a chain that I shop at and support as they are ethical, conscious and employ amazing people like Tyler who was the one at the register. He is very professional, very knowledgeable and definitely an asset to such a stellar company.This isn’t my local PetFoodExpress but I had to run to the bank and stopped by for a few gifts I needed to get. This store in particular is very well stocked, clean and with very attentive and eager to assist employees.They were playing Christmas music which is always a plus for me and Tinky. Tinky was also greeted by everyone and received some very welcome compliments. Love this store and love their employees even more!Thank you for a great shopping experience and also carrying hard to find items. Specifically ones that are imported and of the finest quality for our furbabies.Happy Holidays as well and again, Tinky and I will continue to shop and support businesses like yours that are clearly above the rest.

Great service as always! Unlike Petco, Pet Food Express has great customer service and they only hire nice outgoing people! The atmosphere is so gloomy at petco and everyone is either cranky, unenthusiastic, lifeless, or all of the above. On the other hand, everyone at Pet Food Express is outgoing, positive, and smiling! Plus helpful, which is great. Very knowledgeable, too.

Remy and Tyler were so helpful tonight! Remy answered so many questions I had about CBD for my anxious pup, and Tyler let us know about a good deal on the dog food we got, so we ended up getting two cans free! And we left with a cbd oil that I truly do feel comfortable giving my pup! Thank you so much again guys! This customer service was UNREAL!

Pet food express is a really nice place and the showers for dogs is a little pricey but really good for an hour so i recommend to go there for dogs,cats,and birds. I buy my dogs food there and she loves the food and the employees are really helpful. So thank pet food express for being open during this crisis
