This Safeway is probably one of the worst ones I’ve been to. It’s small, everything is placed in a weird way that doesn’t make sense. Their Starbucks isn’t great, you can make better yourself at home not knowing what you’re doing. The overall cleanliness of the store wasn’t great either.

Hello safeway management.I am writing to express my disappointment with the service I received at Safeway during a recent Doordash delivery. I had an alcohol order for a customer, consisting of just one bottle, and approached the self-checkout for assistance. Despite there being two self-checkout attendants present, they both appeared preoccupied with a conversation with another staff member who was restocking the shelves. Consequently, they neglected to provide the necessary assistance.The self-checkout attendant I initially approached refused to help and directed me to a regular checkout lane, where three customers with full carts were ahead of me. This resulted in a significant delay of nearly 30 minutes before I could complete the purchase.This experience was not only frustrating but also inefficient, as it unnecessarily delayed the delivery process and inconvenienced both the customer and myself. As a delivery driver, time is of the essence, and such delays impact our ability to provide timely and efficient service.I urge Safeway to review their policies and procedures regarding and customer service, particularly for delivery drivers like myself. Providing prompt assistance and streamlining the checkout process for specific orders, such as alcohol deliveries, can significantly improve the overall customer experience.I hope that Safeway takes this feedback constructively and considers implementing changes to prevent similar situations in the future. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

I usually do not have a great experience here. I ordered an online pick up last night and was scheduled to pick up today at 4pm. There was a problem with the system and no one to help and I called multiple times and no one would answer. When I arrived to customer service there was no employees to help or even call to help. I was very irritated. So I walked up to the order pickup. Thankfully I met a wonderful employee named Daniella! She turned my whole day around! She was so kind and attentive. She went above and beyond to help me. She assured me she would personally work on resolving the issue. She later on called me to let me know my order was ready. She gave me a better phone number to call and she personally walked out my groceries and put it in my car. She deserves a raise and a lot of praise. The only reason I will ever go to this Safeway again is because of Danielle! Thank you sweetheart! This shows you how one person can make a huge difference

They have closed off all but one exits and made the store into a cage.Very difficult for injured, disabled, and elderly people. Especially difficult for those people, since they permanently closed the exit *by the pharmacy.*The store management has shown continuous disrespect for the customers and community for years.I am so sick of dealing with their long lines and high prices for mediocre products.I can't wait for the Sprouts to open down the road.Edit: Dear Safeway, I will try your store again when you fix it.

They cage you inside the store with these new fences as you walk in. I will go anywhere else now. Besides that you can't find carts in an accessible location or if at all. They haven't had hand baskets in years. The lines have always been a long wait. They have self checkout now but it's cramped and you can't use the machines comfortably all while their security stare at you. The last time I came here the security was screaming at someone for 10 minutes and I could hear them from the back of the store. I can't wait for sprouts to open up nearby and take every single customer from this Safeway.

Repeatedly watch people with carts walk out the store. Two armed security guards, locked cabinets, and all self the self checkout nonsense, but I can't walk my bicycle through the store. Literally always a show here and this is where you draw the line?! You can't keep your own product from thieves, yet expect me to leave mine unattended on the sidewalk. Always a trash location, always overpriced.

This Safeway has always been poorly managed, but the recent addition of caging people in the store is not only a giant middle finger to the community, it's a safety issue. Disabled people find it harder to access this store now, which is probably an ADA violation too. Thankfully, Sprouts is already halfway through their construction nearby. I'm just driving farther to grocery stores that don't suck this badly in the meantime.

Trashiest safeway. Rarely are there carts to use. Other customers steal your cart when you turn your back as a result. Expired food on shelves. Frequent price errors which are always in the stores favor.edit: It feels like they are making some efforts to improve things but it is not effective or targeting the right issues. There is visible black mold in the refrigerators and I purchased a box of cream puffs that were supposedly cooked that day and they had green mold on the bottom. I can't wait for Sprouts to open so they actually have to treat us like real customers or lose all their business.

The bakery donuts are as good as a donut shop. They even had fruity pebbles donuts and only $1.29. This bakery is definitely raising the bar for safeway. Great job, baker's.

The lines are too long here, they only have 1-2 registers at any given time and the che checkers are very slow. I dread coming here always. The lines stretched all the way through the freezer aisles. No shopping carts, Tide pods are locked up. This place is horrible

I have no idea why Safeway changed their salads.The new ones are so disappointing. They are very small and the quality is terrible.All our salads had one side that was frozen. And the rest of it tasted like it was going bad.We got the ones with chicken/ham and cherry tomatoes, which we had to throw away. We are not risking getting food poisoning before Christmas.Safeway used to be a place of quality and satisfaction.

Went to get 2 breakfast burritos and a sandwich, they didnt have half the stuff for the breakfast burrito, but i got em anyway, the lady did not know how to roll a burrito, so she just kinda smooshed it in half and pushed in the sides. They came out about 3 inches long and spilling stuff out when they are normally around 6 inches. Then i ordered a sandwich, full size, she got all the stuff on it except the meat, then didnt like the way the meat looked they had rolled, so she threw it away and then said they dont have any meat because she didnt want to cut more, i said that roast beef was all i wanted, she just said, well we are out, what a waste, she threw away the whole thing, i almost left without getting anything if it didnt take me 45 minutes just to get to this point. Awful deli.

The seafood department is ridiculously slow and there is poor customer service. I usually go in the morning and the sales associates will literally look at you or walk right by you until you speak up for service! It's like they don't like to multitask or don't want to be bothered until they are finished with their tasks.

Boy, is this is one nasty store!! Employees have matching energy. Purchased spoiled rotten food 4 times within a month!!! Gave this store the benefit of the doubt!! Thats it I’m done. It’s so clear that this store is the “trash store”. Concord Safeway would never and we all know why smh. I will be speaking to the manager in the A.M.

Very crowded parking lot, mostly due to the fact that this shopping mall is actually fairly well occupied by stores. However the safe way in question. Fairly high prices due to large amounts of theft, a lot of things like liquor and formula whatnot are kept locked up. The store is fairly crammed tight as they did not really have the room they needed when they renovated. The only meat available sliced in the deli is Boar's head, the house brand if you look in the Cold Case in the center aisle, you will just find more of their product prepackaged. Safeway offers it in several different methods, but it's all the same quality just bearing prices. Make sure you carefully check your coupons because Summer digital and some you have to cut out. Also if you go there for the hamburger or any kind of specials on meat it's best to call ahead and make sure they actually have it. And then get to the store as soon as possible. Even though they have a Friday sale, the meat manager may not have brought in enough product. Produce is good quality, however it is expensive. But that's to be expected, they have a great selection of pre cut up packaged vegetables for quick dinners, that are not too exorbitant. Also good luck trying to find a shopping cart. And if you're there before 5:00 p.m. the front of the store will be jam-packed with people running in and out with delivery orders or a line for the Wells Fargo Bank.

I just went to Safeway in Pittsburg CA they only had 1 cashier and she was ring things up wrong, giving the wrong change and she had the augusty to take the survey for me. Her hand stayed on the fruit as she weight it. This Safeway may have been 5 Stars a year ago, but it's. 5 stars now!

February 2020 update - After 15 years of avoiding this store due to long lines, it has been remodeled and the waiting problem has largely been fixed. There are now self checkout lanes available and high theft items are now in a separated area of the store with its own register. This was long overdue. I have braved the store multiple times since the changes and have not had to wait more than 10 minutes to check out, (15 to 20 was typical in the past). This is a really big improvement. Twice I was able to check out in less than 5 minutes. The parking lot is still a nightmare but I have to say, I don't drive past the store and go all the way to Concord to avoid it anymore. Great improvement.Update: This is now my regular store. There are now 6 self checkout lanes and a few cashiers. My experience in the last few months is less than 5 minutes wait to checkout.

Shopping was great! I was able to find everything on my list - including the baking ingredients! Store was very well stocked and there was almost no empty slots. Lines were reasonable and I didn't have to wait outside before entering.The only reason I don't give it five stars is because I think they need to manage their Starbucks better. It is too crowded with people waiting for their drink order.Suggestion: maybe a separate outside line for the Starbucks and limit the amount of orders that are taken at a time, or maybe take their order and then make them wait outside (while social distancing) and have a person call their name, or if there is more than one person in a group, only one person can come in and make the order? Just a suggestion.I appreciate that the staff is staying professional and kind during this time. I know it can't be easy servicing the public during this time. They are doing an awesome job!

I really want to give them a better rating but this store is in rough shape. I want to give the staff 4-stars but the condition of the store 2-stars, which is why I decided on 3-stars. I understand that this location can be difficult to manage due to the variety of customers they receive. They had to section off a certain area of the store for items that are commonly stolen so can make getting those items take extra time. There's security guards inside the store but they can only do so much and there's still instances of conflict, nothing scary. The other item I hope they change one day is offering 50% off expiring cold pastries like: cakes, eclairs, etc. I've seen other Safeway's do this so I'm not sure why this location does not. It's wasteful that all those pasties are disposed of as I'm sure they would sell if they were marked down by 50%. Special shout-out to the staff at the Starbucks there, they are non-stop busy and keep knocking out drink after drink!

I ordered a farewell cake for my girlfriend and I just loved how the cake turned out. I ordered a chocolate cream with white bread and custard. Very delicious and the design of the flowers were perfect. My girlfriend loved it!!!!

In terms of the Pittsburg location, it's certainly not my favorite Safeway in my local area. A majority of the employees seem to care less about customer service, though many of the customers here are not very pleasant to be fair. It's the type of store where you grab what you need, pay and then get out. And forget trying to get Starbucks during peak hours because you will wait almost 20 minutes for your drink to be made. Overall, I've been to better Safeways.
