Was first time visiting. They do have shops with items for sale I enjoyed feeding the animals luckily I had quarters. Many different old buildings was like walking back in time.

Bring quarters so your kids can feed the turkeys. There was also an area for goats when I went but, sadly, I didn't see any goats. This is definitely an interesting place to visit. There are spots to eat and grab refreshments here as well. There are also neat little shops to look through.

Kind o tourist trappy. Not as tourist trappy as a Tombstone, of course, but enough. I'd never heard of it, to be honest, until asking for directions to the Pioneertown Preserve when I was at the Cal visitor center in Yucca Valley. THAT, on the other hand, is a good place to stop for information about all around the "high desert" (which is "mid-altitude desert" to this adult kid of the Four Corners).

Boring and dirty. The soap store was ok. If not for Pappy and Harriet's this would have been totally unworthy of the drive.

Wonderful place. Arrive early while there are few people. In hot weather, bring water and hats. We found ourselves in the atmosphere of a movie and everything there is so realistic 👍👍👍

'Ello chaps,Pioneertown is located approximately 40 minutes from Palm Springs in the Morongo Basin region. It's an 1880s themed western town. Once host to a variety of television productions, it's now serves as an entertainment district of sorts.Event and wedding space venue, small shops and a few restaurants. There's plenty of free parking for those wanting to check it out. It's exactly what you would expect it to be. Worth stopping in on your way to/from Palm Springs and Joshua Tree National Forest.Overall I give Pioneertown four stars out of five.

This is an old movie film set where they filmed a lot of westerns at. You can wander around a see a lot of the old buildings. They also have a restaurant and a bar on site. They also have old west shows on the weekend and live music.

Very cute SMALL artsy town. I prefer to support small local businesses and this is the place do it. We frequent many national parks and I like to get art from each place. This would be the area to get unique art to JTNP

Built as a shooting set for western movies by western actors, hundreds of movies and TV shows have been filmed here. Mane street is lined with incredible artisans with something for everybody, check them all out. Pappy & Harriet's is a legendary place in its own right, Pioneertown Bowl is a functioning bowling alley, if you feel like throwing some balls down lanes. Red Dog Saloon has your thirst needs covered and is always filled with beautiful humans. Plus, the drive there is killer!

I had some extra time after I done my business in LA. People suggested me to go to Joshua Tree National Park. On the way there I look the map show a ghost town named Pioneertown. I went by and wish I had some cowboy friends with me. It was just like to see it in the movies. Small but a nice place worth to visit.

The stores are cool and the atmosphere is fun. But, the vendors' prices are way too high and there's really not much to do/see for the drive to be worth it.

A must see if your in the Palm Springs/Coachella Valley area. This town was built in 1946 by Hollywood Stars as a movie set. 40-50 movies were filmed here at Pioneer Town.

If you want to have a cowboy experience this is the place to be. You can walk around the town where you can find a little souvenir shop , and there a farm where play music and obviously a great play to take pictures.

Pretty dead on a weekday afternoon at 10:30. Most everything was closed. Wasn't worth the gas.

We’re in the Movies - Well, not exactly. But, we did visit a one-time western movie set. Pioneertown is located 35 miles from Palm Springs near Yucca Valley and Joshua Tree. It was established in 1946 by 17 investors who each chipped-in $500 to purchase 32,000 acres. Among the investors were Roy Rogers and Dale Evans, Bud Abbott (Abbott and Costello), and Russell Hayden (“Lucky” in the Hopalong Cassidy series). More than 50 films were filmed at Pioneertown in the 40’s and 50’s including Cisco Kid, Annie Oakley and the Adventures of Judge Roy Bean. Helpful Hint: Downtown Pioneertown is open 365 days a year, but most businesses are closed on Tuesday and Wednesday. Admission is free and there is free parking at Pappy’s and Harriet’s and on the east side of Main St.
