Nice people, good service, clean, newly renovated rooms, but no carpeting, so if you're a light sleeper, do not get a room that is underneath another room. We were awoken at midnight by the people in the room above us walking in their boots, then again at 6 the next morning by the same people, probably getting ready to go skiing. No other complaints, though.

I stayed here one night before an impromptu ski day, and had a nice experience. The front desk called me to confirm when I was checking in, and made arrangements to enable me to access my room with my very late check in which I appreciated. The room was clean and nice, and we got a great sleep before our day on the slopes!

There is no internet reception inside the hotel room, and there is no cell phone reception at this location of the mountain. It's frustrating to pay so much for a hotel stay without these essential services. The air conditioning units in your room and neighboring rooms are extremely loud, continuously turning on and off throughout the night. However, the room itself is clean, and the view is enjoyable.Rooms: There is no internet reception inside the hotel room, and there is no cell phone reception at this location of the mountain. The room was quiet, spacious and clean. The bed was comfortable. The hotel is right on 88 yet I heard nary a car. Everything about the experience supported what I needed most and that was a good nights sleep! Every member of the staff I met was helpful right from handling my reservation to my check-out (including me locking myself out of the room!) My nephew and brother stayed as well and this is now our go-to hotel in the area.Food & drinks: The restaurant/bar next door served good food at a good price. A lot of locals in there so that is always a good sign.

This place offers excellent value for money with newly renovated, extra spacious rooms featuring high vaulted ceilings. Enjoy the shared fenced yard (dog friendly is a bonus), convenient amenities, and the added perk of in-room coffee. The friendly staff, including the owner, goes the extra mile to make you feel at home. Not to mention the food at the restaurant was 10/10. It was such a gem we discovered last min on highway 88.I would come back here anytime I come skiing at Kirkwood.

We had a lovely Valentine’s Day experience with a great display of flowers, chocolates, candles, and Prosecco in our room! The staff was friendly and had great follow up from reservation to check out. Clean room. The only negative feedback was the loud noise from the upstairs guest walking back and forth. They need to change the flooring to carpet upstairs!

Better than expected after their remodel — see photos below. Photos are from room 225 which is their King Suite that comes with a small kitchenette. We booked this hotel for our Kirkwood ski trip. About 50-55mins in the morning from Kirkwood from the hotel. This place fits all our needs and has the best value/distance from Kirkwood. We are looking to stay here again for our upcoming trips.Very clean room. Very high ceiling for our room. The bedding could be better since they have sheets and a blanket. It did the trick for a 2 night stay. The remodel did this place wonders and I will choose this place over airbnb anytime.Pool was closed as of this reviewThe office manager, David, is very friendly and we have only spoken over email and phone. David gave us a call the night of as he noticed we were running late — he was very accommodating! They have a restaurant called Plate88 right on the property which you can eat breakfast and dinner. We opted for dinner here instead of South Lake Tahoe due to the drive.

I have been coming here for years. And I especially love the latest management. They are wonderful people . Friendly. Repair is kept up. They have good rooms, great for the family, a pool and a hot tub. Two years in a row I've had my sons birthday there . My son and I would go to just take a break from where we lived sometimes. I absolutely would recommend this motel anytime.

We enjoyed a simple, clean, comfortable room with a fantastic view of the hillside behind during a lightning storm. It wasn’t fancy but it was perfect. You can see the care that the owners put into this place. They still use keys!

On our way to Tahoe and decided to stop by and rest. The staff was beyond friendly, attentive. It was late when we arrive, once morning came the scenery was so beautiful and tranquil so we decided to stay another night. The best decision we made ended up staying here and never made it to Tahoe. A must stay, BBQ area, spa, rooms are nice and well kept. Thank you Pionner Inn and Suites.

Surrounded by trees and visible from hwy 88.Clean spacious rooms with new bedding and rugs, gated pool and hot tub area. Good for families as well as groups of friends. The staff is professional and kind. Would recommend Pioneer Inn & Suites to anyone visiting the area.

My cousin was getting married at Roaring Camp Mining Co. Which was just up the street from the hotel very convenient for us. I was my cousin's wedding coordinator and decorator so I was super stressed out so I needed to clear my head and have a nice place to relax and Pioneer Inn was the perfect spot to do so. The staff is super friendly and helpful. I was also able to bring my dog with me they are Pet friendly and the view was amazing me and my wife had an amazing experience we will definitely be back

It's in the details - every room with a patio or balcony, comfortable bed, quiet sliding door for those of us who wake up way before daylight. This is our third stay, and we know why they are always booked. Love this place!

We visited the place in summer. The rooms are good size and clean. On the edges things may fray a little, like the screen on the patio is not attached so well, but there is a patio for the room! The pool is clean and well kept and great for swimming with a lot of deck-space around it. The front office people were very friendly and helpful. Wifi didn't work that great (Wifi experts seem to be rare in hotels on weekends) you had to go near the office. But when I asked the front desk lady let me reboot the AP in its closet. The place is quiet at night with not so much traffic on 88 and the pub across the parking lot closing around 10. The little fridge in the room hummed a bit and there is no airconditioning.Compared to the more than twice as expensive upscale Tahoe vacation resort this place is a steal.

We had the most wonderful 2-nights stay at this hotel, my two (very picky!) teens loved it! Fresh renovated rooms, everything new and clean and impeccable, I loved wooden ceilings and huge windows facing beautiful forest. Amazing very hospitable and attentive crew, they treat you like family! There is a nice restaurant with pool tables and good food and drinks. Short drive (under an hour) from Kirkwood, and tons of amazing places nearby! We loved Black Chasm Caverns (less than 10 minutes away and home to some super rare structures - only 2 caverns in the US have them!).

Had a wonderful stay here. Good view, comfortable bed with plenty of pillows and Diana's customer service is 2nd to none. My only regret is that I didn't stay longer. Once they install a hand rail by the steps leading to pool I will definitely give them the 5th star!

A great week end getaway as well a stop over on your Way to Lake Tahoe. Nice airy rooms but you need to get your own eats. They have a swimming pool where one can splash around. Definitely worth a layover.

I walked into my room and thought it looked clean but it wasn't until I lad down on my bed for a nap to find sand in the sheets. When I told the front desk person she said it was because "They didn't change the sheets because it looked clean." Later that night there was ants all over the kitchen where there was NO FOOD AT ALL. The beds were hard as rocks and was like a taco. The room was never cleaned. The room was cleaner when I left than when I arrived. The toilet overflowed when I ran water in the sink leaving my shorts covered in pee when i was going to the bathroom. The shower was broken next to the drain so it felt like you were going to fall throw the bottom. The last night I was there I felt something crawling up my leg. I opened up the blankets and it was a pincher (ear) bug. I would not ever come back here.

From the street it doesnt have much sparkle to it at all. The rooms are very large and nice to relax in not loud from any point at all. The pool area is spectacular fron any other inn that ive been to. There are plenty of covered sitting areas with either a table and chairs or just chairs with a small end table. Pool is very clean and im not to sure but i believe the pool toys they have there were supplied by the Inn it self. You dont see that anywhere you go. The jacuzzi was operational and clean. The only bad that i have about my room was the air conditioning filter was yuck i pulled it out and set it outside for then to pick up, but i check every room i rent and they all are the same filthy as all get out.... Will return and definitely recommend to friends and family..... Thank you Pioneer Inn & Suites

Diana was the best part of our stay! My boyfriend found this place for us to stay while we had work being done on the house. We recently moved to the area and highly recommend this cozy Inn! Very clean and friendly sweet staff.

Pros: good bed, garden area with sliding glass door. Lots of pillows. Double sinks. Shower good.Cons : dogs running in our garden area, sometimes unleashed. Loud neighbor room heater on and off all night. Not enough blankets. Stained carpet. Dust and cobweb. Slightly loose toilet.

Very clean and maintained pool, nice size rooms, free wifi, beds and bathroom clean. Rug a little worn with a small stain here and there and toilet is very low. Overall pleasant stay with nice attractions nearby. Suggest Cook's Station down the road for breakfast or lunch ans the IGA grocery store too.

Have family staying here for their 2nd time. 1st tine wasnt so bad. This time so not so great. Hot tub was turned off, you need to ask foe them to turn it off then wait fornit to heat up. As a local it would be nice to see the owners actually fix the place up. It just feels like they threw some lipstick on the pig.
