I used this vet for about 7 years. I only give this review now to warn anyone from spending the worst day of a dog parent’s life with this staff. My dog had a rare but very aggressive cancer. She died within 48 hours. That isn’t this offices fault at all, to be clear. My issue is way the vet and staff handled the delivery of the results. It was unacceptable and unforgivable. I decided to wait 5 months before writing a review to make sure it isn’t purely grief talking. They said they would call the next morning and sent us home. They didn’t call. I waited until 2pm and called them to get an update. I found out the vet left notes but had left for vacation. The staff lied and said she called. It’s 2023, it’s hard to miss a phone call. They were rude to me while I was just trying to understand what to do. They told me they would call back and didn’t. I had to call in a couple times to try and get someone’s attention. I had to take her into an emergency vet just to really understand it was her last night. It was hard to be treated that way after using them for so long, so I am moving on to another vet. It was a terrible day and Penn Valley Veterinary Associates made it worse.

I looked up a couple different vets and this places seemed to be the best value per what I was told on the phone. I explained that I did not have a lot of money to spend but that I did not want to let my dog suffer—-When I got my dog there they charged me an extra 100 dollars for two procedures which the other vet , Grass Valley Vet Hospital has not charged, which they NEVER said anything about before they did having these charges…and so I could not buy the medicine I needed for my dog as I had to pay an extra 100 that would have been allocated for the medicine. The other vet I though was expensive never charged me 100 extra when they said the visit was 50…. Now I have the money and needed to get the prescription from them and they would not wait another minute so ( they said they are closing at 1:30pm on Friday) so now I they said they would be able to help me on the 2 of January, wow and my dog has to be in pain till then? 23 of Dec till Jan 2…..Shows how much they care about animals. I said this to them. They could care less, the person I spoke to was called Karen, funny right? Sad but true. NEVER TAKING MY DOGS THERE UNLESS THERE IS NO OTHER WAY AROUND IT. Ever. I told them I was looking for a a cheaper alternative to the other vet, they charged me an extra 100 dollars. What a scam. Thanks Nancy Reed Vet. My experience with this veterinary hospital In Penn valley was horrible. Not even if it was free would I expect this kind of service.

All the doctor are great and are honest about our pets health. Dr. Eric, Dr. Reese, and Dr. Booth, I love them all and would choose any of them to see my pets. I have seen Dr. Booth for all my Bird issues. I love that she is honest and makes me feel good about decision when it comes to my geese, chicks, turkey. I wouldn't take my animals anywhere else I know they will be treated with respect when I am waiting for them or dropped off for the day. Highly recommended and worth the wait

I have a notoriously difficult and "grumpy" dog. I usually dread taking her to the vet, but the Doctors and staff here have been nothing but kind, understanding, and patient with my girl.We have lived all over the country and overseas, this is the first practice where I truly feel comfortable going to an appointment.I'm so glad we found them!

We love Penn Valley Veterinary Assoc.Dr. Eric and his wife are extremely talented vets. Eric has done surgeries on our dogs for several years now, everything from sprays, OFA x-rays to surgery to remove tumors, all with great expertise. Prices are fair, pets are treated with kindness and compassion. g
