The place is an excellent ground for the cats. Lynea is doing all the right things for the cats, including setting up separate sections for Felv cats, for senior cats, cats requiring quarantine first before they join the tribe. I hope Lynea gets the financial support she needs each year.

The best cat cafe on earth. They are doing such good work for the cats, and I hope they get all the support they can. Bring lots of snacks for them. There are 1110 cats needing snacks.

Just adopted this handsome guy yesterday. The ladies that helped us at the blackstone site were very friendly and knowledgeable. The minute they put him in my hands he started making biscuits. He hasn't stopped yet. Working overtime.

Business with Cat House on the Kings has been by far the most emotionally draining experience I’ve ever had. Before deciding where my family and I wanted to adopt a cat from, I did my research and read through their site. The FAQ’s, testimonials, how to adopt, tours, etc. I called the cat house on the Kings, to ask about a specific FAQ that I saw. It was the policy stating ‘We do not adopt small kittens to families with young children.’ When I called to inquire about that the lady was so incredibly rude. She didn’t even let me ask the question. She assumed the question I was going to ask yelling, ‘I wouldn’t let my 10 year old be responsible for a cat but maybe someone has a 6 year old that is responsible’ she kept going on. Then when she was done yelling at me, I said ‘I wasn’t talking about the age of children, I was talking about the age of the cats. What is considered a kitten? A few weeks old, months, a year? She giggled and said ‘oh kittens would be any cat younger than 6 months’ I said oh okay because we’re looking to adopt and I want to make sure before we fill out an application that we would be able to adopt a cat from your adoption center.’ She was nicer after that but still a very rude first impression. So, when we decided to fill out an application we got the message ‘we will get back to you within 3-5 days.’ When we realized it would take that much time to get an answer, we made an appointment (2/17/24) to go see the cats in person. My five year old has been wanting a cat and my one year old loves them too. So, when we were there my daughter fell in love with a kitty named Mary #25079. She would’ve been the perfect cat for us. Mary followed her and loved the kids petting her. My oldest a 16 year old also really liked her. She was perfect for us. Mary wasn’t one of the cats we had initially filled an application out for, so I asked the girl up in the front if I need to fill one out specifically for her or if the application I had already filled out would be fine. She told me to go ahead and fill out another application because it was for a different cat. So, I did. She also advised me to reply to my initial email and let them know that there was a new application. The next day, on Sunday, 2/18/24, I received the email stating that our application had been denied. I completely understand that they do not have to give a reason. But given that I was advised the day before the denial email, to submit another application for Mary, I thought maybe we were denied because we were no longer interested in the other cats we had originally listed. I replied back to the email to gain clarity and I still have not gotten a response. I am only assuming they denied both applications, even though we have all the means to financially take care of an animal. The reason I say this was emotionally draining is because my five year old kept asking when we were going to bring Mary home. We’ve had a conversation about how some people don’t really want to give up things they love and that some people are selfish, which I 100% agree that the owner of this place is. She has over 700 cats on her property. She’s a hoarder. She has people ready to adopt cats but is unwilling to let them go. She gets people to donate to her so she can keep up her crazy cat hoarding tendencies. If she really believed in saving cats she’d want to find homes for the cats. We gave this place a chance and had hope to be bringing a pet into our living home even being rude to over the phone. It’s very sad that this place claims that they have ‘too’ many cats that need homes, but then deny people for no reason. We hope we can find an adoption center that is more welcoming and where we can adopt a cat for our family.

Cat House on the Kings is a wonderful non-profit organization, dedicated to helping the hundreds of cats in their care. The staff are knowledgeable and incredibly compassionate, and it's a real treat to visit so many fantastic cats! If you get a chance to visit, especially during their spring or fall open-house parties, do it! You'll have a great time AND you'll be supporting the amazing work that they do!

Denied, we own our home, two income family, have cats and one loving senior dog, they all get fed blue buffalo, have toys and our time galore, and this year we're completing putting in a two bedroom w/ hallway cat run on the wall, guess it wasn't enough and wasn't picked up on the "extensive application".To fill it out and then receive a denial letter through email with no reason why, was disheartening. The application has areas you tell all past animals you had / have what they passed from, at first I can see why on some common sense questions but as you go along, it seems extreme as you have to fill out if something happens to you who will take over the cats, house checks, and family reference number, etc. Right away you get the feel they don't trust / have their opinion on who is worthy, by their standards. If you look at the reviews on Google & Yelp, most positive reviews are from people just visiting not actual adoption stories, BIG RED FLAG. For our family who recently lost a beloved cat and were at a time in our life after the loss to get another cat we thought the cat house would be a good choice,it wasn't. At the end I recommend this place only as a "tourist" or "visit" stop. The board or whoever is proof reading the application submissions is reading with distrust is their heart already. It's unfortunate when so many cats and dogs need a good home. Take a good look at all the reviews in Yelp and Google that were denied, now add that and a lot more of families who didn't speak up......imagine those #'s of families/people who could've adopted and made a difference in an animal's life. My advice is don't take the time scrolling through the available adoptions because at the end of the day it comes down to one email and you don't want your kids or you heartbroken if you had your heart set on the ones you wanted to meet, see, check if they were a good fit with your family, you may not even get the opportunity. We're off to a real adoption agency!

We did not know that we needed to make an appointment before visiting. But the hosts were so kind to let us in. We played with the cats for almost an hour. Lovely place with a good cause.

What a great cat rescue! Very neat place to visit and hang out with cats and nature. Very friendly staff and plenty of spots to relax. They are always looking for donations so make sure to visit their website and social media.

One of your cats could have had the perfect home this week, and you denied them. I know for a fact that it would have been the best family and situation for any animal. How do you deny someone when you claim to need homes for so many cats? You're clearly only in this for the donations. I'm happy that some people have obviously had ok relationships with you because that means you care about a cat here and there, but in all honesty I think your organization is clearly only out for money and couldn't care less about these animals. You should be ashamed of how you run your "business".

We were looking to adopt a kitten in need, and this place looks to be the place to do it! I filled the adoption forms " basically a background check ok" to be denied due to having a young child in my family! Are you kidding me! Instead of just denying someone for the most ludicrous reason how about you do what your program is set out for putting a helpless animal with a deserving family why don't you do a in-person interview and see where the animal will be going! This place is so tied up in politics that it forgets it is a shelter! If I could give 0 stars I would!!!

Love this place. Getting to hang out with 700+ cats who all get along in a 12 acre plot of land is somethibg truly amazing. These cats may be considered " rescue shelter" cats, but this place is easily heaven for any cat! The owner gave up her 5 bedroom home just for these cats to have a place they can call home. Public visits are allowed and are free !

Denied us for no reason. Guess we will adopt elsewhere. We have been there before to look at the kittens and elder cats and knew that’s where we would want to get a cat someday but they denied us and won’t give a reason why. Very sad. Is it because we moved into a mobile home? Are they discriminating against people who live in mobile homes? The cats would be indoor and only outdoor in a leash. I’ve owned MANY cats in my life, and I’m quite literally obsessed with cats, so the kittens we could have adopted would have had the best life. Very unfortunate. Maybe they are just in it for donations like a few other reviewers said. Do better.

If you are a cat person, this is your heaven. The cats are so happy and comfortable in this haven. The cats at the front yard are very friendly! You also can meet happy doggies and peacocks! Wish I could stay more than 2.5hrs. They only open from 1pm to 3:30pm.

They don’t answer phone. No one can give you answers. They never are where they say they are going to be. You put in applications and you never hear back from them. No wonder they have way too many animals. They don’t do their jobs to get the animals homes. The whole process is way to long and complicated to adopt an animals. This place sucks.

Excellent experience, a wonderfully dedicated group in helping the community and picking up the pieces where humanity has failed. Kudos for all the hard work in giving these lovely felines the love and life they deserve!!

Loved the atmosphere and all the wonderful variety of cats. Went there for my first time for my birthday. When you first walk in, remember to sign in and then they give you a treat bag to give to the cats as you explore. Use hand sanitizer often due to chronic or ill kitties when touching healthy ones. The kitten area was the best and I’m happy to have met the little cuties!

All the 1 star reviews I have read so far were people wanting to drop off their unwanted cats. It's not the owner or people who work there that are causing the problem. The place is already inundated with cats already. Shelters all over the country do this when they are at full capacity. On top of that, they are running the place with their own money as a non-profit, no help from the humane society like local state shelters has.

Blatantly attempted to scam an elderly sick woman who needed a place to put her cats because she can barely take care of her own health by asking her to pay them $5,000 per cat she was surrendering. Never in my life could I believe my ears and this poor woman was so sweet and trying so hard to justify the reason behind it.The amount of cruelty you have to have in your heart to even attempt to take advantage of people and not even that, but an extremely kind elderly woman who just wanted a good place for her kitties is absolutely horrid. Makes me sick to my stomach

This spectacular space and loving cat home to 700 animals featured in National Geographic makes you believe in mankind, thanks to founder Lynea Lattanzia and her right hand, Tammy and their staff and volunteers. I took care of one of their surrendered rescues for the past year that was in the TV special years ago, and they were loving and supporting even with all their other charges.

My husband and I both love the CHOTK and highly recommend them for their loving care of cats and kittens as well as for helping those of us who rescue animals find spaying and neutering options. Please spay and neuter your pets and please consider supporting CHOTK with your donations. Their funding to do the wonderful work that they do comes only from private donations. They need our help as much as we all need theirs!

I was trying to get a beautiful kitten that seemed so lovely but was denied and not told why. I really wanted to go the proper way and adopt but instead was greeted with this 😭 To say I’m heartbroken is an understatement. It’s no hate on my behalf but my experience itself was/is truly devastating 😔

This is an amazing shelter where all cats are well taken care off. Everyone here loves the dogs and cats are also very kind to humans :). They exist on donations so every bit helps and no donation is too small. You can also visit and let the cats show you how happy they are! I visit monthly and have a great time with the cats every time I come. It a beautiful, serene setting next to the Kings River. The kitties will show you lots of love! You can make an appt to visit by calling Cat House on the Kings♡

Amazing. If you love cat then this is the place. They need volunteers. Volunteering is easy. We wanted to volunteer for a couple of hours but ended up there for almost three hours. You can also visit at 1 pm on some of the days. But you can also just help out and then go play with the cats. The only difficulty in volunteering (it wasn't a difficulty) was petting the cats as they keep coming up for pets. I think they get jealous and next thing you know there is a line of cats wanting pets.

Every time I've called this place they were never available to accept any kittens. I'll give them a few stars because at least they are an organization that helps save animals so that's always good. But every time I've called most people who answer the phone have attitude and are not willing to help or really offer that much information to get help. They should offer more resources and assistance for people trying to help other animals. However the drive there is beautiful very scenic route and the cats live on a beautiful property I thought that part was amazing.

They kill there and abuse them. They fire their employees for no reason and the manager gets away with anything. There employees are rude and bully’s and harassing others. Also they leave dead animals and they leave the cages a mess and it smells and they never provide stuff for the employees to use to clean of feed the animals so some employees have to pay out of pocket to provide for them they don’t care for there animals and they charge hella to adopt so that’s why they don’t care for there employees or animals.

As others have said, I contacted Cat House on the Kings to get help for 5 kittens that are socialized & would be highly adoptable but are being severely neglected in their current situation. The only response I got was to look for someplace to spay/neuter them and then post them on Next Door for sale. I’m not a cat rescue! I’m a cat mom to 7 of my own kitties, and I can pay to fix all of these kittens, but these kittens need a safe haven to live and be adopted. It is incredibly ironic how much money these “rescue” organizations solicit to run their operations but when you need help, they have none to offer. I’m terribly disappointed in this response. I’ll look elsewhere and direct my future donations to an organization that will truly help.

This place has the rudest workers here. This lady specifically doesn't care about cats. My mom and several people have had cats they needed help for that weren't there cats. Way too many then they couldn't possibly care for. And they were only met with a rude woman who said she didn't want to accept any more cats and that my mom could care for them herself. These were cats dumped on her doorstep she knew she couldn't afford to help. Instead of offering care for these kittens they rejected them and wanted nothing to do with them. These kittens deserve a good home and need forever homes. This is just sick and twisted and shelters claim to care about animals and then reject them. Not even offering a different shelter we could turn to.

The most wonderful place on earth, I call it my happy place! It’s professionally run by a dedicated team who give their hearts to the cats in their care. It’s an inspiration of an institution.
