Checked out multiple trails throughout the state and national park and this one was a favorite. Big Tree is a Definite see and the Cathedral Tree is excellent. There are some places where I must have missed a sign or it wasn't marked, but it's fine because it leaf to the Prairie Ranger Station and Gift Shop where it was easy to get back on track (and I'd planned on visiting anyway). It only added about half a mile. Make sure you plan enough time to just stand in the trail in awe and take a ton of pictures.

What a magnificent huge tree to stand at the bottom of! There is a little raised deck area at the bottom of the tree that tells all the information on this tree. Great place for pictures and the trails are awesome to walk nearby. Definitely stop by, it's not far from the corkscrew tree too!Price for entry: $0

A little detour from the 101. Big Tree is quite an understatement. The Big tree is humongous. There are also lot of other huge trees. The trail is a short and easy hike and takes you up close to some of the biggest redwoods trees on the planet.

This is my second time hiking in the Big Tree Wayside Trail this year. Last time in early March, it was raining and forest was pretty dark and gloomy, so I told myself that I had to come back again. Here I am! The weather was perfect today, you could catch the sunshine through the forest canopy, in some areas that the Big Tree had fallen, the Sun was shining on the floor, and small redwood and other plants were vying for the sunshine and space, the fittest will survive and flourish. You would be amazed that these 1500-2000 years living things had been here waiting for you to visit, magical feeling!🙏🙏🙏

A fantastic beautiful giant tree that you should not miss. The signs are very good and it is a small walk from the parking. There are other longer trails around the tree.

This is one massive tree in a forest of huge trees! There are multiple parking areas, but no matter which you select, you won't need to walk more than fifteen minutes. There are side trails leading away from the tree that will continue into huge long distance trails so be careful with which you choose.

Being handicapped, I only did the short circle trail but it was gorgeous! There's a little babbling creek running through and numerous bigger trees. It is definitely a good place to see the majesty of these trees without having to hike a long distance. That being said, it is also not a good place to enjoy the peace and quiet of the woods. Quite a bit of traffic and we were there in March.

This is an impressive, easily accessed 1,500+ year old Coast Redwood. The display is quite good as it shows the tree with people standing in front of it one hundred years or so back. I'm sure like with so many other "famous" unusually old and larger trees many photos taken over the years can be had and compared to what it looks like now. There are some other large trees near this one if you have the time to hike around. Excellent time and thing to see.

The drive to this place is beautiful, all surrounded by big trees & water streams. Big tree wayside is a must visit , a massive beautiful tree (no it’s not the biggest tree) . Best part is that there is no hike to reach this point 😂 which was a great plus for us after all tired from multiple hikes in redwoods.

Quick way to see some Redwoods. The r loop trail is 10 minutes to walk and a slow pace and offers good photos. There’s much better trails throughout the parks but I can see why this is popular for photos.

Great experience! Good off the road place to visit to get out and see the trees!! Especially since we were in a hurry to head south and weren't planning on hiking up to see the even bigger trees. Just don't plan on going potty there unless you're cool with a latrine... yeah. But totally recommend to see the trees!!!

Didn't get to spend as much time as we wanted to but we will be back. We could have probably hiked for at least a couple of hours in the trees. Defined, easy-to-follow trails witb tons of redwoods.

Easily accessible with a wide, hard surfaced path. Very short walk from the parking lot. Vault toilets available. Loved the scopes and informational plaques set up to explain the various occurances you might find in some of the trees. Nice stage for pictures and lots of space for hanging out and admiring nature's handy work.
