I went there to get my new doggie vaccinated for rabies and get the microchip. I had an appointment and it was very easy. I was also able to get the license which is going to be mailed to me.

The adoption counselors are just wonderful. The cats are really well taken care of and the staff is amazing.

Took my daughter here when she was ready to adopt. She had looked on their site beforehand to check if they had any cats of a certain age group she was looking for.Once we were inside the facility, we could just browse around and eventually tell an employee which cat we were interested in.The adoption process was easy and we left with an adorable cat that day.Happy to report that the kitty is very happy at his new home since 18 months 😀We were amazed to see so many different creatures up for adoption! Bunnies, guinea pigs etc.No dogs at this locationUpdate:The humane society has a program to neuter Community Cats, as well get them vaccinated. For free! We also took a stray kitty here that hangs out on our patio, we've been feeding to get him neutered etc. Also: their vaccinations program is very affordable!

Never bring stray animals here, they are a high kill shelter. We brought in a stray cat and it was euthanized the same day, they didn't warn us or give us a chance to bring it to the vet despite telling them we would. I called a week later to check on the cat and they lied to me, saying it was still alive. I called another week later and was finally told it was killed the same day I brought it in. The cat was eating and in good spirits when we brought it in and they wouldn't tell us why it was killed. I also will never understand why I was lied to on the phone. Please do not bring stray animals here, there are other responsible shelters that do not euthanize.

We adopted a reptile, a young Sulcata Tortoise. The process was speedy and our agent was very informative. We were at the SDHS cats and small animals location in Oceanside. They have a number of cats, bunnies, guinea pigs, a few reptiles including iguanas and red ear slider turtles and occasionally land tortoises who are in need of homes. Please come and support!

Everything deserves 5 stars here.Staff interacting with me were so friendly and helpful even if I wasn’t expressing interest (yet) in adopting. Facility was super clean and cats/bunnies/guinea pigs have ample space to themselves.Ame was an AMAZING adoption counselor! She was honest, kind, and patient throughout the whole process even though we were going a little past the cutoff time. After adopting, we had all the paperwork we needed, + a bag of Purina cat food to take home. Carrier was bought there since we didnt bring one (definitely would bring one incase they run out!)Overall so happy with our new pet cat, Chip!

I deliver items for their fur babies. They will take your clean, but tired, towels and blankets. Empty paper towel and toilet paper rolls for the cats and bunnies are always welcomed. Can you please help them out and repurpose these items rather than throw them into the trash? It's a win-win!

While the building and area weren't notably attractive, it was easy to navigate to, and easy to identify the exact location at 572 Airport Rd., in Oceanside.Reception was pleasant and their organization was excellent when it came to matching an adoption counselor to a pet seeker. It took about 3 minutes to match us with Lauren, our adoption counselor, and they texted us to let us know she'd be coming. We spent about an hour browsing around and Lauren was very patient and helpful. She showed us every cat we asked about - nearly every one - and explained what details were known about the cat's history. They were controlling an upper respiratory infection in the cat kennels, so we weren't able to touch or hold any of the kitties. I appreciated that policy for the animals' sake. Unfortunately, that did make it difficult to be decisive.I mentioned to Lauren that I also wanted to check out the Escondido campus. She even helped with that by showing us their database of available kittens and told us that they may have petting areas. (They did not.)While I didn't choose a kitty from the Oceanside campus, I would definitely go back, and also recommend them to anyone looking for a pet.

Awesome adoption place! I adopted our lovable husky and they gave us all her documents and background information. Such an easy process. Nice staff as well!!

I had a fantastic experience adopting my hamster in April from this shelter! I had a poor experience with another small mammal shelter I'd adopted from previously, so even though I live far from Oceanside I decided to make the drive up, and it was well worth it. The interview process was quick but I was glad they're screening adopters so well, the staff was available to answer any questions I had, and the staff at the site were polite and friendly. I also appreciated the COVID precautions they were taking. My hamster (Nettle) was given to me healthy and adorable, and I couldn't be happier to have her in my life now!

We adopted Jazz and Jesse on 12/26/2021, our process was quick and easy. The staff was super helpful. They are both adjusting well to their new home and we are so happy they have found a forever home.

I have community cats. Everytime I come in with a TNR for a cat, the staff is always super friendly and helpful. I absolutely love the staff at the Oceanside campus.

Worse place to go; no wonder the Vet section is shutting down! We skedualed to have our dog neutered monthes ago. We dropped her off at 0800 and they called us 5 min before closing to come pick her up. When we got there they asked if we knew if she was pregnant, then nonchalantly said well we terminated it. They never called to ask if that was what we wanted just scooped her out like a pumpkin and threw her barbies in the trash! Now she won't stop wining and wimpering all day and at night she scratches the floor welping but she has no puppies left in her.

They were quick and easy with the vaccines for my sweet girl, Nova. No long line. You do have to print out your visit summary in your own. Other than that, we had a good visit and Nova cooperated and didn't have any issues with them administering her vaccines.

Used to be a great place to get your pet vaccinated. Not anymore.Appointments were running 30+ minutes late. You’re not allowed to go inside to get an update. They’ll make you stand outside with your pet in the scorching sun waiting to get called in. That small canopy is a joke when there’s multiple people with big dogs waiting for their turn. While waiting I saw pets run away from the staff squeezing themselves between their windows and blinds while staff was scrambling to catch the pets and set up foldable plastic tables as barriers. A few people squeezed out the main door looking like pets were about to run away at any second. Guess that’s why they make you wait outside and won’t allow you to open the door.A complete mess, after waiting for half an hour we left and took our pet to a private provider who knew their stuff and didn’t waste our time.

Friendly and helpful staff. I was surprised to not find a lot of dogs here but that's a good thing if they're all adopted. A lot of cats though. They are all so cute.

I really don't recommend coming here, the staff is not friendly or professional and god forbid wanting to SEE a dog before you adopt one. I've had an inquiry about adopting a pit Bull from the Oceanside campus for weeks and every SINGLE time I come in they tell me that they don't have any time (no matter what time of day it is) I've even called ahead of time in order to make sure I was able to SEE the dog that I wanted to adopt. I can't adopt the dog if I can't interact with him first?? And that makes sense right? Wrong. Especially at the Oceanside Campus they have all the dogs in a separate building so you can't even look at the dogs behind a cage door.. The dog I wanted originally was at the San Diego campus and I was able to see him, my boyfriend on the other hand wanted to see him and interact with him before we decided to adopt him.. (understandable) they moved the dog from San Diego to Oceanside and waived his adoption fee since they have too many dogs and not enough space.. but they don't have any time to let anyone have an inquiry about adopting.. So the dog will continue to rot in his cage with zero interaction because there isn't anyone to let him out of his cage.. and they can't use the excuse of being short staffed because they had multiple people in the main building not doing anything. Really disappointed with how things are being ran over there. These dogs will never ever go to good homes if you don't allow people to view them and interact, its that simple. Customer service at this location is horrendous. I called ahead of time, informed the manager that I had drove up from San Diego (1 drive) and that they said I could see him and they STILL turned me away. Couldn't get worse if they tried

For $25 I got a rabbit the size of dog. They even lent me a dog carrier cuz he's a big boy that won't fit in the normal ones for rabbits. All the staff are helpful and ask if you have questions or need time. Not pushy.I also really appreciate how well maintained the website is for all the San Diego humane societies. It's updated throughout the day. This is good if you're stalking yr new fur baby while at work and don't want heartbreak when you arrive.

They spayed my dog and updated her shots. Helping a homeless woman and her companion makes them awesome. Doing so without making us feel judged makes them 😇.

I adopted this sweet girl on 10/16/21, and she has been the biggest blessing to me and my family! We love her so much! The Oceanside/Airport Road facility was clean, has friendly staff, and the adoption process was super simple. Would 100% recommend giving one of their sweet animals a home if you’re in the market!

Had an appt, so it was really fast. Free microchip in October is awesome. Docked a star because they don't accept Care credit.

Staff are weird and awkward, and will judge you with the questions they ask to adopt. I would highly recommend going to a different location or rescue.

They sell you the Lic. For your dog and the chip ID collard which it’s proof of dog ownership and if you ask then to help you recover your stolen dog from a property location. They won’t help at all and the fact the collar was hack and remove from the dog it’s worthless from keeping your dog safe

I appreciate that they took the cockatiel that showed up on my back porch this morning, but their attitude was so condescending, like I was trying to trick them into taking my long-owned pet. Thought I was doing the right thing by turning it in, didn’t expect to be treated like a big loser.

This place is an absolute joke. They failed to correctly determine if my dog was spayed or not, which was not a big deal so I called to schedule an appointment. When I arrived at the location at the time they told me, I was told I did not have an appointment and they cannot take my dog in today. So I rescheduled for the week later after waiting for 45 minutes. When I dropped my dog back off at home, my wife received a call that I did in fact have an appointment the whole time. I was already late for work and she had to leave work to take our dog back in. After dropping our dog off, the medical staff did a great job. However, when my wife returned to pick up our dog. The front desk tried to tell us our dog was not here and they have no idea why we thought our dog was there. When the whole time the man who checked her in this morning was standing right there SILENT. My wife had to say “Call back to medical and say we are here for our dog”. As it turned out, our dog was there and the front desk was wrong. The medical staff did a great job, but the front desk needs immediate help on how to execute their job properly. I love the humane society and donate to their cause, but this was pathetic.

Awesome people doing amazing things for our four legged family members. I wish they would open the dog park again. Perhaps we could get the County to fund the resources needed.
