Visiting the general store is always a treat filled with passion and creativity! The atmosphere exudes warmth and charm, making it the perfect spot for both friend gatherings and solo dates. The food, sourced locally, is not only fresh but beautifully presented, making each visit a culinary delight. It's no wonder I keep coming back, Dining here always leaves me with a great feeling. This overdue review is just a small token of appreciation for such a fantastic restaurant and community space.

Absolutely ten out of ten. The atmosphere is clean, well lit, trendy yet tasteful music. Rustic and boho and modern decor.The service make up kind, gentle people (mostly women) who are very kind and helpful presence.and the food is the absolute best part. Reasonably priced for how astounding the food is. The taste is out of this world. And the quality of the food feels healthy and fresh. Food is by far my favorite part.Kid-friendliness: There is a whole little kid corner with toys and a spot for them to be entertained.

The food and coffee are good...in the expensive side. A delish muffin is $5.30 then they ask for a tip. Part of the place is super nice for chilling and having a coffee shop experience..but then the rest is super disjointed. There are little nooks with random things and you end up walking behind the counter and in the kitchen if you want to see the different offerings. It feels like they sort of gave up on their vision?!

Very nice, open areas inside. Local artists tables & well stocked cases of to go food & beverages. On tap beers, everyone but myself had milkshakes!I had: Altamont Egg breakfast sandwich, Meil Coffee & got salad to go! Hard seltzer I picked up at the general store on same side. Including great downtown area it's a must visit!

My friend and I stopped here for lunch. Both ordered the Burger. It was very good. Chips came with it which appeared to be homemade, which were good also. My 3 star on Food was because of an extra charge I incurred for CONDIMENTS! I don't eat mayonaise and asked for catsup and mustard for my burger. $2.00 for Mustard and $2.00 for Catsup!! Really? $4.00 dollars extra on top of $17.50 for a burger. Will not be going back.

What a great find. We were in the area and the other restaurant we'd planned to get breakfast at was closed, so we had to find a last minute alternative. We should have just planned on the Altamont in the first place - great coffees, delicious, fresh breakfast menu (and pastries), and just overall a really cool space with friendly staff. If we lived nearby we'd be in here weekly.

Beautiful add to the shopping & dinning strip in Occidental! Would recommend popping in for a quick lunch and while your food is prepping check out their vendors around the shop; they are stocked with items from hot sauce, hand crafted cheese boards to locally made jewelry.

Special spot in the oldest building in Occidental. Lots of treats you can get on your way through Occidental or to the ocean, or if you live here. The owners are super friendly, and the place is immaculate and charming. The decor is sweet and the space is a lot larger inside that it appears outside. Tons of dining space. We got some good coffee here on the way to the ocean. Nice bathrooms and overall ambiance. Also some fun goodies/gifts you can buy. Easy parking out front.

We got the Roti Bowl and Beyond Beef Hotdog. Both had great presentation and flavors. Next time we're in Occidental we'll definitely stop by The Altamont again. Definitely check out the different items for sale around the shop.

Love the vibe of this place. Great interior. Super friendly staff. I met two staff members who both had me laughing. It was like making new friends while ordering tasty, iced coffee. Great menu, lovely flavors. If I was closer, I'd be here all the time.I ordered "The Shizz" and an iced coffee with milk.

Surprisingly good. Really Fresh sweet veggies, new taste combos. Try one of the bowls! Menu seemed a little heavy on the vinaigrettes and fermented items for me. But it was super yummy.Their fresh baked sandwich rolls were to die for.

I’ll start with the good things!The design of the place is super cute! Lots of little tables with jewelry and other cute things for sale, lots of sitting both inside and outside,I had a chai latte and a match donut , both were great!The down side is that I tried their katsu chicken sandwich and it wasn’t good at all, they reheat the chicken so it’s not fresh out of the fryer, there’s hardly any slaw in it and the flavors just don’t work in my opinion. Obviously it might taste good to some people. But chicken katsu is my go to wherever I can get it, and I didn’t like this one.I’ll come back for coffee and the atmosphere but not the food 🙏🏻

Whether you need a great coffee or Matcha, perfect selection of vegan and or gluten free pastries, lunch, to-go or grab and go, truly local wine, don't over glance this chic amazing destination and coming home. The capitol of "country" in Sonoma County, truly, Occidental is blessed and privileged to have The Altamont General Store and it's kind staff and great eats as the best "rest stop" I know of in Sonoma County ( - born and raised Sonoma County Local).

Wow this place is really elevating Occidental! The pastries are out of this world. The banana pudding is the best I have every had and the chocolate iced mochi donut is amazing. Their take way dinners are soooo delicious they do a special menu on Friday. The lattes are also so good. A must try if you visit Occidental!

Those sandwiches are quite sub par and highly overpriced. For all the effort they put into their house made brioche and “bann mi bun”, they’re really just bearable. The hotdog is mediocre, found a long hair in my pulled pork, and I’ve had better chicken sandwiches in fire camp. If you want a sandwich, just get a torta from el mariachi or something from bohemian market. The coffee drinks are good and the staff are nice enough, I’ll give them that. All in all, it takes some pressure off people wanting to get hung over brunch at Howard’s (which has also kind of slid off as far as quality goes) so I won’t complain any more.
