Small eatery with homemade food, tucked away in the heart of Occidental. A quick breakdown of my Hazel experience:-The food...amazing! Best pork schnitzel and shishito peppers I've ever had.-The staff...also amazing! Our server was super friendly and took the time to walk is through the menu.-The atmosphere...second to none! I highly recommend Hazel, and be sure to make a reservation.

We read all good reviews about Hazel while we stayed in Occidental so we decided to have dinner here. We had sourdough bread, fried brussel sprouts (with applewood bacon, lemon, parmigiano ), seafood stew and mushroom pizza. Everything was wonderful, especially the brussel sprouts (the best brussel sprouts dish I’ve ever had). The seafood stew was also delicious and tasted so fresh. The wine selection was fantastic. We were here on Saturday night and it was packed so make a reservation before coming. They also has patio seating if it doesn’t rain.

We celebrated a birthday and were blown away by both the quality and quantity of the food.It's hard to make a salad exciting but the little gems was a hit with our group.The cioppino was incredible and you get so much! Don't skip dessert either, as the coconut cream pie is next level.The atmosphere is very cozy and the staff friendly. They handled our large group well in the middle of a busy dinner service.Would love to come back here!

From the laid-back atmosphere, to the friendly and personable staff, you can't go wrong at Hazel, from appetizers to desserts. We had their life-changing Brussels sprouts with a ridiculous amount of parmesan Reggiano and bacon. The portion size for the entrees is generous and served as lunch the next day! (Perfect pot roast). The wood fired pizza is simply delicious. The Halibut and seafood was well-prepared if a bit brothy. Dessert was a homerun with hot fudge sundaes with crunchy toffee and homemade maraschino cherries. The olive oil cake was moist and light. Great place! Great town! Worth the drive!

I've been here twice now this place is fabulous. wood fire oven Pizzas are delicious. Chicken dish Yes to die for. Fish stew Super flavourful. Pot de creme desert yummy. We had a very fun and attentive Waitress. My 3rd visit was not as good The pizza was watery in the middle The dough never rose in the middle It was soggy, They made it twice the same way. It was a Sunday And they way overbook With not enough Waitress All the tables were shoved close it Was extremely loud and not a relaxing dinner. I think the owner was trying to squeeze Every dime out of the night. If this was my first impression of this restaurant I would never go back. Several workers behind the counter were just standing around while the waitresses were running at full speed. I hope the owner reads this and makes some Changes definitely needs to work on his dough for the pizza. It is not cooked properly in the center 3rd time I've had it this way. Drop it on a hot pizza pan with some oil if you have to.

This restaurant is incredible. We stopped in for our anniversary. The food is superb and the portions are huge! My wife and I ordered two entrees and a starter and it was so much food. I highly recommend the peppers to start (see pic) and the dessert was out of this world. Their wine selection is quite good, but if you’ve been wine tasting in the area you should consider bringing your own because the corkage fee is only $20.Dietary restrictions: My wife can’t have dairy and they were able to accommodate by grilling the Salmon without butter for her.

Do yourself a favor and make a reservation at this lovely restaurant. Hazel is the place to dine in the Bohemian Highway area - it’s such a treat. Everyone from host to chef (we sat at the chef’s table) was very kind, welcoming, and highly professional. Ezekiel, our waiter, was the best - thank you very much. We got to see chef in action creating magic in the kitchen and wow - every dish he brought out was a masterpiece. We ordered roasted chicken and crab platter - everything was fresh, delicious, and amazing. The dessert looked so tempting, but we didn’t have enough room (hazelnut sundae looked soo good).

So grateful we were able to experience this place..They were definatley busy and I could taste why :-).Bruce was excellent and made it an experience to remember. Thank You!.We ended up going back the next night as the menue was amazing!..The ribs were just mouthwatering! Meat was just following off the bone!.Brick oven pizza is always so crisp and theirs was on point!

Must try!This is a perfect place for wood fire roasted pizza. We ordered Blue cheese, Mushroom & Mozzarella Pizza. All the pizzas were very yummy. Everyone on the table had their own personal favorite. My favorite was Mushroom pizza. Desserts were also very yum.I would like to thank Bruce(our server) for being such a nice host. All the staff members are very friendly.

Best pot roast I’ve ever had!Stopped here for dinner last night and was not disappointed! We had a big group on a wine trip who had dined here 3 years ago and loved it so much we had to go back. It completely met our expectations!I got the pot roast and it’s the only one I’ve ever had comparable to my moms 😊 tried to eat the whole thing but it’s definitely enough for two! Brussel Sprouts are also to die for. Local wines, great service, can’t go wrong with this spot!

J and M have made an amazing thing with Hazel. The pies! and everything else. You definitely won't walk away hungry.Can't say enough, I've had everything on the menu, I'm just happy every time I leave.Kid-friendliness: You can tell it's locally owned with an amazing family atmosphere

Food here is great! Have to get the little gems salad, it’s so good. Desserts are also a must, they are made fresh, and there are always fun cookies. Servers are so friendly and knowledgeable about the area. We love the pot roast and pork schnitzel when they have it.Vegetarian options: The little gems salad is vegan- which is shocking as the dressing is so creamy. Also there are a lot of pizzas that can be made vegan or vegetarian easily- substitutes are super easy in our experience. Gluten free also works too!

Everything was delicious with generous portions! Our favorite was the Pt. Reyes blue cheese thin-crust pizza with marcona almonds and arugula. I also loved the pecan cheesecake. There’s a cute little assortment of baked goods at the front as well.

First time visit the other night, with friends who had been, after driving past for a few years. Delightful “Farm to Table” menu, and very cozy atmosphere. The service was delightful, prompt and relaxed. And the food was simply amazing, AND so generously portioned! Even at the slightly spendy per plate pricing, for our typical budget, it felt like great value. The crispy fried Brussels Sprouts and Bacon was a MOUND we could barely spoon off the plate without staining the paper table cover. It was all a warm, comforting, delicious experience. This is a definite “Date Night” winner for us, especially since we live in West County. We will be back.P.s. Definitely encourage reservations, especially for dinner, given the intimate seating and small parking lot. 7pm on a Thursday felt reasonably spacious inside, though they were nearly out of Shnitzel. But come the weekend, your mileage may vary.

I can’t get enough of this place. We always make sure to come here when we are in town. The food is always delicious and fresh with whatever is in season. Slight refinements to the menu over the seasons ensures we are never bored with what they have to offer. And always save room for dessert! Highly recommend everything on the menu! Plus, the staff are so gracious and always genuinely kind.

We were staying in Bodega bay and weren't really excited by any of the dinner options there so decided to venture further. And that was the right choice or we would have missed one of the best pizza we ever had. Restaurant is cute with both indoor and outdoor seating. We took the mushroom pizza and it was insanely good. I wished I lived here to get more of it.Highly recommend even if it's a detour from your route.Parking: There is off street parking available

I love this place, went there three times in the course of a 2 night trip to occidental, hands down the best option around. Staff is so nice and helpful, the food is divine (best brussel sprouts ever) and they have gluten free pizza!Dietary restrictions: Gluten free pizza

Hazel used to be my favorite restaurant but Since the pandemic their food went way down in quality. I found a live ladybug in my salad a few months ago and haven’t wanted to go back but I tried them again recently and was terribly disappointed with the food. They changed the recipes and nothing is very good anymore. My salmon was raw and my salad was covered in black pepper (which I have an allergy to) that was not mentioned in the menu and I think the oil was rancid. I don’t think I will be back, it definitely wasn’t worth the price. When their cookies are fresh they are decent

Many "gluten free" crusts we have tried at other restauarants are not very good. Not the case here.The gluten free crust is delicious, as are the pizzas.Our favorite is Pt. Reyes Blue Cheese. One of the most eclectic combos and most delicious I have ever had.Plus as a bonus, Thursday nights are No corkage for Sonoma County wines.Vegetarian options: Yum yum on Pt. Great friendly place to eat. Pizzas and chicken are phenomenal, however the deserts!I've now been here 3x, and I think the 3 deserts I've had have been the best I've ever had in my life. Key Lime pie, Blueberry cheesecake, and a chocolate mousse thing. Out of this world. My wife and I have lived in either NY or L.A for the last 30 years, and eat out a lot at nice places. Never had such great desert experiences as I've had here.
