Mediocre hard to get help has a lot of hard to find products also has regular foods for pets. Cannot return without receipt even if cashier remembers you manager is judgmental and treats his staff as if they aren’t important. I witnessed him casually walk up to cashier stating he will look into her time off request for the weekend which was two days later she said no it’s ok I got it he said he wanted to get it done and she said she couldn’t wait he said he’s been very busy and he was leaving to go to get something to eatShe said ok and left I guess it was more of the way he said these things and how non chala y and entitled he was. Employees are definitely afraid of him!

Horribly mismanaged shop. Asked the cashier if she could call someone to help me locate an item, and was told I’d have to wait until she finished with all the people in her absurdity long and slow moving line — evidently she was the only one working the floor on a busy Saturday afternoon. I stood there for a moment looking for more information on my phone, when the security guard accosted me in broken English — still not entirely sure what he said, but certainly not the kind of store I wanted to be stuck hanging around. I immediately left and went to a more reputable chain — where professional staff greeted me warmly and promptly assisted me in completing my purchase (an increasing novel concept for Oakland businesses…) Avoid if you can.

Prices are great, huge selection. Usually only one cashier and it seems understaffed given the amount of space they have but I've never waiting more than 10 minutes to check out. I get all my Cat food and rabbit food from here.

They have everything that your pet could possibly need. A bit over priced on some things though compared to other stores. But good customer service which is always a plus for me.

Wish I could give a zero for the manager. I came in with a product to return. I had the receipt and requested my money back. I had to wait for 30 minutes while he photocopy the receipt and tried to verify the purchase. Finally, after a long duration of time I was told the money would be issued to my card. He then asked for my address and when I declined he proceeded to follow me. I clutched my purse and prepared to fend off a physical attack from the manager. I believe this incident was racially motivated and I will not be shopping here in the future. 20 years of business cannot compensate for intolerable behavior. As a customer and as a Black woman, I deserve better. Manager is large Asian man who may be under the influence of drugs.Over the last couple years I noticed most products are out of stock and unavailable. Store is dirty and unkept. Usually customer service is not available and lacks knowledge of basic products. I do not recommend this business.

Best selection and decent prices. I get all of my dog's supplements here .. antioxidants, probiotics, dental stuff, hot-spot spray, glucosamine, nutrition powder, salmon oil, bone broth...awesome selection of vitamins and supplements for pets!

Would be so much better if the company remodeled the entire store. It's kinda got a 1980 to 1990 feel to it.It definitely has possibilities and lots of inventory. Employees were not very friendly or seemed to even like animals. I get stopped by people everywhere I go by people to pet my puppy and they seemed either anti social or overworked underpaid and plain over it. When there's no other nearby pet store it will do otherwise, Needs HELP

The prices are good, specially dog and cat food. Affordable a life fish. Unfortunately, aquatic area is always messy. Looks like they never clean or change de filters. The water tanks are always cloudy and the guy in-change of the aquarium area is not friendly at all.

I usually grab dog toys and food here because it’s cheaper than target, petco etc. (at least by $10-$25) and they have a wide range of supplements for my pups.Pet wash is a hit or a miss, but it is $11 and there is a great blow dryer. Also glad there is no time limit even though there are signs that say 30min but they don’t mind if you stay an hour or so (double coated dog owner here). You either arrive with your pup and the tub is clean with available staff that provide you with towels, shampoo, brushes, etc. OR the opposite: unclean/fur filled tub, wait on staff for supplies…. I just alleviate that by bringing my own brushes and shampoo, but I use their towels!(:Other than that, I would not come here for feeder animals or fish. Old man that usually works in the fish section should be retrained or fired. Terrible with customers.

The only good thing about this place, in my opinion, is the employees are great! But they had no dog clothes at all and I need a specific dog soap and they didn't have what I needed. Maybe just a personal bad experience.

The VIP Clinic holds sessions here & there is NO LINE!! Get all your pet’s shots taken care of plus their Heartguard prescription at extremely reasonable prices.The store’s inventory is far better than Petco or Petsmart. Prices are lower, too.Yes, it backs onto a dicey neighborhood, but there is plenty of parking in front of the store and next door at Office Depot; and the area is kept clean and secure.

ANIMAL ABUSE in store, potentially an illegal bird breeding operation on premises.I came to this store to purchase a partner for my zebra finch. The room in which they keep the birds was completely dark at 11am. At my request, an employee entered the room and turned the light on—revealing a tiny room with bad ventilation and cages stacked floor to ceiling. The room was extremely dirty. Since the store breeds too many birds, they just stuff the cages with dozens and dozens of vulnerable birds.There were about 20-30 zebra finches in a single cage. There were several cockatiels in a single cage, with one being constantly abused (feather loss, exposed skin, neurotic behavior). We asked the employee about that abused cockatiel, and she said that the bird is fine, they are siblings who sometimes fight.This store is responsible for blatant animal abuse. These birds live in overcrowded cages in a dark room for months and months after they are bred. I don’t know if breeding is done legally either, but at least the cockatiels were bred by the employee herself (by her own admission)!We ended up buying the abused cockatiel and it took months of careful care for it to recover. It had severe skin condition and required medication.If you are looking for a pet, avoid coming to Pet Club — you will be horrified by animal abuse and lack of basic care. There are many small stores that do care for birds, just look them up in your area.

Upsetting because they never have the Royal frenchie puppy large bag they only have adult and so they offer the small bag for $26 dollars and the bag is very tiny no bueno pet club🤨

This would have been 5 stars. I've been a customer of this store since 1995. 5 stars until I found out there are no customer bathrooms. I found this out by asking politely and receiving a smirked, terse, "They're closed. " Had she added, "Now, get out," I wouldn't have been surprised. This "family owned" store used to have a feel of customer service. Now, it's just about the money. I left about $300 in a cart and went home to use the bathroom. Frankly, if rather go to Pet Food Express where the employees don't resent you.

So it's a far cry from what it was back in the day. It looks worn. But they still carry premium pretty brands and the tattered looks is definitely passed on to the consumer. You are a poor WORN BLESSING IN DISGUISE🤫

I pet love pet club. I frequent pet club because they have a wide selection of aquarium animals on a daily. I'm truly disappointed everytime I come in to purchase a fish I received terrible service and injured fish. I have multiple aquariums and don't mind nursing a injured/sickly fish. What I do mind is a fish keeper who has terrible service and zero care for fish. If you guys need help my information is available I love fish and providing excellent service.

I'm giving a few stars because it's a pretty cool pet store with lot's of stock, but the guy that is typically in the fish department, older white folk, needs to work on his customer service, I have been there a few times and I get the impression he hates his job or just doesn't care. Once I was late and he literally rushed us because he had to close the fish department. When I've asked him something he always gives me an I don't know or just a dry response. Not sure if he just doesn't like his job or maybe even a racist thing. I really like the fish options here but he definitely discouraged me from keep going.

For me it was okay. I found some things for my puppy but not what I was hoping to find. The good news is that they carry most well known brands of animal food just not the one for my puppy. The cashier was nice but was new and still getting acquainted with the store. The customer service was good. They answered my questions but no extra input or advice. The thing that was most off putting for me was all the smells. It smelled like an animal store and if anyone is sensitive to smells I would recommend a different store.
