Hilariously narrow and cramped aisles, but the spacious outdoor-esque area makes up for it a bit. I have to check my timing, and not go during crowded hours. The selection is solid, in general. I have health issues, and sometimes need really specific foods, but these guys usually have whatever is on my list.Expensive, yes, but they accept EBT (which they have to take to a separate card-reader).

I’ve come here since childhood and it’s always been a great place for good produce and specialty ingredients I can’t find at a mega grocery store. The produce here is so wonderfully fresh I’ve propagated cuttings from it, and what isn’t is well discounted. Today they gave me some actual mint plant as well! Local businesses are the best.

Not quite a boutique market, but this smaller outpost to the main market carries items you won’t find at Safeway, but don’t want to go to Berkeley Bowl or Whole Foods to buy. A good stop for authentic Asian brands and vegan-friendly food substitutes.

I live in the neighborhood. I just left. The staff let me be accused and berated by a line of people accusing me of cutting the line. The guy became progressively more aggressive and they acted like nothing was happening. I was first in the line, they knew. Maybe it's because I'm black and the guy accusing me wasn't black. The staff looked scared of him. Black lives don't matter at Farmer Joe's.I'll be telling all of my neighbors about my experience tonight. Ridiculously offensive. I run restaurants in Oakland. I'll be telling everyone who will listen in my industry about my experience. I attended the University of California. I do not steal. I do not lie. Farmer's Joe's was happy to literally look down while I was accused of both. The cashier refused to look me in the eyes after it happened. I'd be ashamed of myself too.I've not been this offended in a decade. Again, I live in the neighborhood, my family shops there regularly. Nobody I know will say anything about this place other than what I experienced tonight. I assure you of this.

For some reason people just stand in aisles in a crowd, like they're in a trance, so moving around the store is hard. Good product selection. Clerks are fast and very efficient.

This is one of my favorite stores. Yesterday not so much. My driver that runs errands with me. While waiting for me. Got out the car and dropped his iPhone. A customer inform me that he saw the guard, pick up a phone. My driver doesn’t no his cloud info and the phone is turn off. So today we are going back to talk to manager. They are required to look at their camera. So I will keep you all posted. I can’t get anyone to even answer the phone, at this store. When employees steal.

Farmer Joe's Market at the corner of 35th Ave. & MacArthur Blvd., here in Oakland is always a pleasant experience. Fresh fruits & vegetables 😋 but also, many other items from eggs to excellent ice icecream choices. The staff is friendly and helpful. I am happy to recommend you shop here. Especially if you are a Laurel and surrounding neighborhoods. Farmer Joe's has been here a very long time and with the quality products they offer coupled with excellent service and actually good value for your money. If you haven't done so or are a new neighbor, check them out. You'll be happy you did.

I liked it both times I had to visit the store during the holidays. They had what I needed and it was fresh and reasonably priced. The cashier's could be more friendly but, we're professional. The line was long one day but, moved swiftly.

This place rules, and has everything. Good place to find tasty items that you'd need a whole foods or trader Joe's for. They have excellent deli sandwiches. And an excellent comprehensive beer and wine selection. Just be prepared to navigate tight spaces. There's barely enough room between isles for 2 carts to pass. Bottom line. . . Wish I was there now instead of sitting on my toilet writing this review.

I rated 5 stars for this smaller store as it has everything that you might want, that you forgot at a larger grocery store. It has a fresh meat and fish section; produce; dairy; named brand box and can goods. Plus, natural health and beauty items. Today, I bought eggs, bread & moisturizing hand gloves.

Used to be a good store. Now they sell spioled vegetables, and dairy. The place is horribly filthy, and they spray their produce with a hose instead of a mister, soaking them entirely, often ruining salad greens and mushrooms completely.I live 0.3 miles from this market, and have shopped there daily since 1999.But at this point, I wish there was an alternative. They really, really suck now.Management does not reply to email or answer the phone. They simply do not care.

Great little produce and grocery. Reasonable prices on most things. Very convenient spot in the Laurel. Usually has available parking. Nice selection of organic and local veggies in a small spot. Good plant-based dessert section!!!

Very convenient store, nice to stop by on a workday evening and you can get what you need quickly. I get a lot of my fish here since it's fresh. Their chicken, and steaks are good too. Good veggie and fruit selection. Small store, so I usually can't get everything for the week here.

One of my favorite neighborhood grocery stores shipped here for 16 years! Great family business, they expanded and still offer friendly service with great fresh produce and meats! Highly recommend even though I left the neighborhood from be years ago when around the Bay always stop in.

Great small grocery that I've been going to for more than 20 years. Good prices on milk and produce. Nice butcher/meat department. Lots of organic produce, dairy, packaged goods and large freezer section. Has pretty much everything you would need including fresh bread and baked goods.

I went at 7pm so that affected my rating. The selection of food ranged from average (fruit and veg) to impressive (bulk goods, organic options). Prices are higher than Whole Foods but this small store has different overhead and I'm sure rent must be expensive. Absolutely a better selection than most stores of the same size.

Aside from being a great market, this family is incredible. I lost my wallet on Sunday and tonight an employee delivered it to my door. I had phoned Sunday afternoon to ask after it but they had not yet found anything. Nothing was missing and they had wrapped it in a bag for protection. I can’t thank them enough for their kindness. Customer for life here 💜

Much smaller than their flagship market on Fruitvale just 1 1/2 miles from here and because they are much smaller this store has significantly less variety of produce and other items. But if you are in the neighborhood, it is much easier parking and has better and cheaper produce than other supermarkets in the area. They also have a fresh meat and fish market that is pretty good. Easy access to both freeways, 580 and 13.

Love the organic produce section! I can stock up on my weekly groceries for cheap! I usually go to the bulk bins, the organic veggies, and sometimes take peeks at the artisenal snacks.I live in SF, so it's a trek out here, but it's worth it! The drive is easy, parking can be tough (but never impossible!), and the staff is friendly and helpful. The owner and his wife are frequently seen at the store, so be sure to say hi!

We love this small, family-owned market. Yes one can sometimes get better prices at a large chain supermarket, but I'd rather spend a bit extra and contribute to our local Oakland community. We usually do our big 1x/week shopping at the larger Farmer Joe's on Fruitvale when we need items not available at the MacArthur location, but regularly run to the "Little Joe's" for a basket-full of last-minute needs.

It’s a convenient location but the produce and bread are often moldy and past the expiration date. Chillers don’t seem cold enough for dairy products. Check the food carefully when you buy it, i’ve had to return things more than once.

Pros: plenty of organic/healthy options.Small store, so it's easy to find stuffEasily accessible by transit (AC transit 54/57/NL all stop here, so you can get here from Fruitvale BART, MacArthur BART, 19th st. BART easily.Cons: a lot smaller selection than the larger farmer Joe's location. With the small size it's harder to find exactly what you want or find something on sale. The lines can get long at times but usually not too bad.

I love this place! Discovering about a year and a half ago while working in Oakland for a week or so but hadn't been back since since I live in the city. Well, I found myself in Oakland again and found farmer Joe's again too. Great produce and juices!

I shop here almost exclusively for my groceries. It is only about 6 blocks from my home and I can walk. A better vibe than the larger Fruitvale location, although the Frutivale location has a much larger selection and full service meat, deli and bakery counters. Best for fresh produce, milk, eggs, bread, meats and fish. For larger bulky items, like sugar, flour, cereal and oils, better prices are at your larger grocery chains. The owners are great and have done a lot to invest in the neighborhood with these independent grocery stores. They deserve our support and patronage.

There are two locations, the large one is my favorite. I love that they offer Mary's chicken at a good price and that they will cut it up for you. The organic produce is reasonably priced, Baker's of Paris breads in addition to Semifreddi's and Acme's, hot soups, rotisserie chicken with flavors other stores don't offer.... I only wish I lived closer! If you need help looking for an item they will make every effort to find it for you. Huge plus - they hire people with disabilities. I would frequent the store just for that reason alone.

I used to come here a lot more often. Not so much now. I find the prices here just as expensive as those in Safeway especially the fruit. I was still able to find a few low prices like the white mushroom, onions and beets. There are two locations. The one in Fruitvale is larger but I haven't shopped there in years since I moved. The location I shopped at today is on 35th Avenue which I find a bit neglected.

I went one time and I had no idea of the amount I paid. I was in a rush and didn't pay attention but no ticket was given. Hopefully it didn't cost me an arm :) The security agent was very kind as well as the cashier. Great for quick groceries!

This is my local, family-owned grocery store. I've shopped here for a decade. Great produce. If I'm entertaining or want a bit more section, I go to the larger store on Fruitvale. But 35th is my home store. Love them.

It's easy to park. The prices are fare not too high. The produce is fresh. They sell produce you can't find every where, like fresh okra. And you can get in and out fast.
