Rather than an intentionally intriguing space filled with art, it feels more like a chaotic accumulation of raw materials. I believe there are interesting pieces, but they get lost amidst the multitude of items. The pathways are challenging to navigate, easy to lose direction. The atmosphere is a bit chaotic, making it somewhat uncomfortable.

East Jesus is an interesting, cool, funky and bizarre experience. My fiancée and I drove from San Diego to see the historical monument, Salvation Mountain, the drive was a lengthy one, so after you see Salvation Mountain be sure to make your way to East Jesus, its definitely worth it. I encountered Robots and Aliens from other galaxies, messages that tickled my brain, at one point I felt like I was in a 70s horror film, there was smashed TVs, dismembered mannequins, old beat up cars and writing everywhere. It looks like the grounds have more room to expand for more interesting art sculptures, im curious to see what they create next. 10/10, I highly recommend, please donate while you're there

Absolutely must visit this place. It’s about 1.5 hours off the beaten path. We only had an hour because we had to catch our flight but you could spend an entire day. Search for Cam and Brenny on YouTube to learn more.

Slab City and East Jesus are definitely worth seeing. Make sure you stop by Dots Place as well. It’s a fascinating peek into a counter culture community. The copious amount of plastic trash everywhere was depressing, but outside of that we enjoyed our visit. Make sure you are respectful and leave a donation.

What an incredibly creative and inspiring place! There is a surprise everywhere you look, you can play on a dangerous 13' high seasaw- or walk through stained glass tunnels, admire all the sculptures, or pretend you're in the wizard of oz. Nearby is the colorful salvation mountain and the desolate ghost town of Bombay Beach near the Salton sea. Definitely worth checking out.

Art is art, so no comment on that. But yikes, Slab City - do everyone a favor and stop taking yourself so seriously. You look like a refugee camp but there’s a key difference in that all of you are choosing to live here as parasites who feed off of the curiosity and generosity of your tourists. No clean water? Demand it from a tourist. No food? Tourist. No money? Set up donation boxes for tourists. And what is there to tour, really? Vignettes of children smoking green, angry men running around with blood streaming down their forehead, burned up trailers left and right? Thought I’d be here for a few days but was told by a resident that my car would be broken into so I left after two hours. I didn’t feel scared as much as annoyed. You haven’t escaped capitalism, y’all. You rely on it as much as the rest of us. And I know most of you are pulling in welfare checks. Which, in theory, I have no issue with. The problem is that you’re pretending to be lawless and beyond society when you’re directly benefiting from everyone else’s labor and the cops legit show up in your glorified landfill every other day. Tell me how that’s lawless again?

To get here you have to go past Salvation Mountain (which is sight to see), then through Slab City, which in opinion is a view into what living without government can produce. But then you get to East Jesus. It's all art and all made of trash. It shows what a little creativity can do.

Very enjoyable, unique experience. You won’t see art like this anywhere else. The closer you look, the more astounding the details are. Humble, grounded people making people happy through art in the desert

This is surely one of the most fascinating art installations I've ever seen, right in the middle of one of the strangest community environments that I've ever visited. Very unique and certainly worth visiting if you've never been here before. A serious word of warning if you bring children, keep them at your side at all times. Many of the art exhibits here are physically dangerous: There are *literally* things like rusted radial saw blades and coils of razor wire within arms reach of toddlers. Be vigilant.

At first, you might be apprehensive about visiting. A free community in the dessert where people go to use psychedelics and break away from conformity and society. They started their outdoor museum by rummaging for materials and have created some amazing artwork. It is a great environment that is welcoming and safe for all. Bring the kids. They will love it!

This place changed my life. They welcomed me as their own friend and gave me a place to sleep. I dream and plan to one day finally move to East Jesus, where my soul truly belongs. I'm so grateful to have experienced this magical artistic beautiful mini town. It's worth the drive from all over the US. You haven't lived if you haven't experienced and explored East Jesus.

I passed through this campground before heading back into California and it’s artistic and welcoming. A lot of cool information to learn if you talk to the locals. I’d highly suggest going during the day before sundown.

Billed as the only art museum in Imperial County, that may be true, so if you like folk art (at least I think that is what it is called) this would probably be a worthwhile experience. It is unique for sure. I liked it, however much of it is to the extreme. It is all made from other people's trash basically. Some of it is very clever and unique and some of it is tired and worn out and needs a refresh.

Eclectic and interesting stop for the adventurous traveler who doesn't mind going off the beaten path. I found everyone I met to be pleasant, polite and helpful. Some places look a little sketchy, but areas where guests and wanderers are welcome are generally marked. Tips are appreciated for the sculpture stroll (which is AMAZING) cash, Venmo, PayPal are accepted but you can also donate kibble, water, tp etc. This is an amazing, unique, special place, and I highly recommend taking some time to explore it for yourself. Charge your phone and bring a standalone camera, you will want to take all the pictures. Be respectful to the space and the locals, & gas up before you head over to the area as services are few and far between.

Easily one of the coolest places I've ever been. Bravo for creativity. I've been obsessed with Slab City culture since visiting Quartzite in AZ and learning about nomadic lifestyles. Good on these people for following their passions.

Amazing place. Went here with my dad and I have never seen him so invested in art. It was honestly difficult to leave. I must warn you about the roads into Slab City if you've never been, because they are really really rough. If you're here, make sure to donate.

Being the only art attraction in Imperial county, they do a fantastic job! There are paintings and sculpture and art cars and installations that tackle socio-political issues. From what I've noticed from older photos, the exhibit is ever changing so it's never the same place twice! It's also free but they do accept donations! East Jesus and Salvation mountain are the only ones in Slab City that pays for the property they're on, so donations are helpful and appreciated.

Slap City is a very interesting place. A mixture of Hippie and Art-Colony. Is it art? Is it trash? Maybe both. But you have ti see it to beleve it. Or vice versa.

This place is worth visiting but only if you are close-by in the area. There is no entrance fee but there is a suggested donation. The art is pretty impressive and the people that greet you at the entrance are really friendly. The place is not so big. My favorite art was the TVs, and the Elephant made of tires. We were here in Mid-October and it’s probably the best time to be here in the fall.
