We were out for a drive with mom, she showed me where my dad used to golf. Lunch was great, we had hot dogs and chips. Nice drive along river road.

River Oaks is the perfect blend of challenging and forgiving! The conditions are always phenomenal, greens are always perfect. Clubhouse is spacious and food is great. Couldn't recommend the hotdog enough. This course is a must for anyone in the Sacramento area!

This is almost a hidden gem. The course is well maintained, the staff is helpful and friendly, and the track is challenging, yet fair. I highly recommend it.

*update* Things have definitely gotten better at this course. Still wished they would offer a nine hole rate though. Also Susie's tacos are the best!!!!I have been coming to this course for years but it has become frustrating. Three times now I have paid a higher fee than the person I am golfing with. There is no nine hole rate or military discount. I am a disabled Veteran and with my disabilities I cannot always play 18 holes but I have to pay a flat rate (which seems to vary) whether I play 9 or 18 holes. When asked to speak with the golf pro I get the response "he's not here and I don't have a phone number to reach him". Same with the owners. Totally unsatisfactory.

This was my first time playing here. The course was in excellent shape and the greens were in good shape. The staff is nice and accommodating, as were the people playing. I'll definitely be back!

Fairways are in bad shape. The greens were fairly good.The clubhouse was filthy, the mens restroom was dirty and smelled like urine. If you can't keep the clubhouse clean you surely don't belong in the golfing business!!!Not going back anytime soon.

So green and well maintained. Played there for the first time today and it's the best course I've played in a long time. Open and forgiving. Great club sandwich too. $40 greens fee with cart is well worth it.

No bunker activity so i can't report how they are. FW's greens are very good. No prob w tee boxes either. Course is in very good shape greens are true, well taken care of. Ruff is very manageable but you can catch a flier.

Very nice course layout. However the greens are poor and full of crabgrass and are extremely slow. Grass in fairways is deceivingly long and balls don’t get any roll. Love the course but probably won’t go back due to the poor conditions around and on the greens.

I really like River Oaks! The course is easy to drive to, it's close to my house, the clubhouse is clean, and the staff is awesome!Playing the course is great -- it's wide-open so I don't lose too many golf balls (I still lose a few when teeing off by the orchards. I need to work on my swing, leave me alone!).

This course was a ton of fun to play. I went in with no expectations and was very pleasantly surprised at the course conditions and design. I will definitely be returning. It also helps that it's a beautiful gem hidden in the middle of no where. Which made it a nice quiet experience.

'21/7 1st time patron/play & review:-- Beautiful, easy, short drive in the country (just north of Sacramento).-- Decent cafe choices, and indoor seating.-- Very small Pro Shop (golf accessories, clubs).-- Very nice, accommodating staff (no cart guys).-- Forgiving beginner's course, wide fareways with very little "rough" differentiation, and no real water hazards per say as most have dried up making the area playable--albeit rough; oddly, no wildlife even though out in the country and backed to the Sacramento River levy.-- Green/cart deals online.-- Trendy, hip restaurants on the river within a few miles to enjoy before/after the round.

I like the course. Nice layout. The mosquitoes were horrendous... We were getting bit 60 seconds after getting out of the car for an 11:48 time. Nice people, cheap beer, good food.

Greens in great shape. Missed all the bunkers so can't rate them, however, did see some weeds growing in the fairway bunkers on hole #15. Might be easier to hit out of those with little or no sand?

River Oaks is fun and challenging and I highly recommend walking the course. The views are amazing. Challenging for sure but you will want to return. They also give a Senior discount to those 60 and over and a military discount to our honored Veterans.

Played course before flooding. Course very nice. Kept up well. Not very many people playing this course. Has Carts. Small snack bar, pro shop minimal. Some days misquitoes are plentiful. Heard from other golfers new owners and some changes have been made

Most of the time concerning golfing the course is good but the poor rating I’m giving is when contacting the course they hardly answer. I have tried for 3hrs and all I get is their answering service and they cannot get through to the pro shop desk either.

Greens were OK. Fairways and tee boxes need to be improved. Staff was terrible. We teed off at 1 PM on 2/14 and were on the tee box of 17 at 4:45 PM. A staff member, Andy, approached us and rudely told that we had to stop playing and return the carts right away. He said all carts should be returned by 4:45 but we haven't heard about it from anyone before playing. We thought he was joking because it didn't make sense to return carts one hour before sunset, which is 5:45 PM.

Super experience! Very friendly staff and food at the club house A OK! Golf is never rushed and you can play at a leisurely and enjoyable pace. Course is well maintained and even in harsh times care is apparent.Well worth the drive from Sacramento!

This will be the 3rd time playing at this course so i have seen it change with the best care from Gabe Mejia and his team, what a job he and his crew have been doing, this will ensure the word will get out to create a great buzz to golf at this hidden gem. Thank you crew and keep it up. I will be back on my next vacation from Washington, DC very soon.

Cart was terrible. Staff wouldn't exchange. Had to pump "gas" pedal rapidly to get it to move. No garbage cans on course. No water. No course marshal driving around with water for golfers in 100+ degree temperatures. Pathetic!!!
