(I wouldn't give this place any stars if it was possible!) This place is absolutely cruel and disgusting! These dogs are from puppy mills, they are kept in glass tanks, with no love, care, or compassion! They don't have any social contact with the other dogs. This is absolutely cruel and disgusting, there are thousands of dogs in shelters that NEED loving homes, if you want a dog buy one from a shelter, don't support this horrible business! Yes, they are adorable and you feel bad for them, but dogs from puppy mills are taken from their mothers at an early age which causes them to have a lot of health problems, and the breeders treat the mothers horribly, they don't breed the dogs in a humane way at all, the dogs are forced to breed until they die in horrible living conditions. All the breeders want is money, they don't care about the well-being of their dogs, they just want to make a profit! Dogs are NOT just animals, they DO have feelings, they understand what is happening to them, they aren't rag dolls, or toys! The people that own the business and work there themselves need to be kept in glass tanks for the rest of their lives! Don't support this horrible business, if you really care about animals, get dogs that deserve homes from shelters, and help to bring Russo's and their chain of companies down! DON'T support them and buy their kittens, lizards, rabbits, guinea pigs, etc...!!

Every weekend rescue animal's have been shown at Russo's Pet Experience since January 2000.Animal rescue organizations have trouble with sickness, too. It's just a fact that having animals in a space and bringing new animals in risks common diseases and parasites; upper respiratory infections, coccidia, ringworm, flea anemia and genetically predispose immunol-compromised conditions.The owner of Russo's has made space for rescue animals pet adoption events every time the store moved to a new location within Fashion Island Shopping Center.Even pre-schools and kindergarten classes have the same problems passing sicknesses and even lice. .

This shop is completely inexperienced with handling sphynx kittens. Please don't ever buy animals from this pet shot, what they are doing is harming these kittens future health and wellbeing with their lack of knowledge. If they are willing to do this to kittens, what other animals have suffered the same neglect. The litter that is in there now is being handled by any person who wants to touch them, and if you buy these overly priced cats, you will likely be getting an unhealthy cat. These poor kittens need to go to a rescue immediately! They shouldn't have left their mother so soon in the first place.

My Ex-husband bought our family a beautiful white odd-eyed Persian kitten at Russo's on a spontaneous shopping spree after church with the kids. Of Course I was not there which is why it ever happened in the first place. I am a Newport Native and have heard Russo's horror stories the last twenty years sick, dying, and dead animals with thousands in Vet bills and never once did the store owner refund under state law with out lawsuit. Many were personal friends or neighbors.My X was told the kitten came from a reputable breeder and that Russo's did not use kitten mills. When he told me, I laughed in his face because Russo's own website states he uses commercial breeders which are horrifically cruel puppy and kitten mills... USDA licensed breeders are "THE PUPPY MILLS" and the reason the word even exists. What could I do?... I was not going to take this sweet beautiful white kitty back to Russo's under reign of owner Dan Digiacomo who is a convicted cruelty criminal and was prosecuted by three District Attorneys and served three years criminal probation ...NO Way was the Kitty going back.... well of course in less than a week , little Charles weepy eyes were actually FIP. A carrier of FIP but not the terminal kind... the kind that cost me thousands in treatments during break outs over the 5 years I had him...My sweet little Charles was not really sweet at all... What we assumed was overly playful bites and scratches when he was only tiny, turned out to be Feral behavior from the environment he was born...His poor mother is living in the hell of a BACKYARD BREEDER, because she had no license....We tried everything to alter his aggression and increase his socialization skills but my poor Charles was BAT CRAZY!.. We threw away three couches because he would not use a litter box in any shape or form He did not want to be held and suffered from sever anxiety that never left him a moments peace... After he drew blood more than a dozen times from each of our children who attempted to calm and hold him, the Vet said he was not going to ever be a "Pet" and recommended to euthanize... WHAT?!!!Behavioralists, medication, nothing worked.... Thank God for mom... She took Charles in when my X had it because he bit our little 8 year old for the last time... Because Charles was so feral, MOM made a clothes line trolley and a long line where he could have full reign of the back yard for some sense of joy, but had to remain in his own room when in the house to keep him from urinating and defecating all over the furniture....Russo's Pet Store or the Corporation that owns it BCDF should be prosecuted by the Attorney General or Fair Trade Commission.... His Business is Entirely Fraud--- If you want to join the ranks of a convicted cruelty criminal and make him rich while animals die and families cry then buy a Russo's Pet....Instead of paying him 400% mark up, just order direct from his puppy mills on line....most of his breeders are internet puppy mills...... If you have a conscience and actually respect a living being, THEN GET YOUR PET ANYWHERE ELSE.....If you also have had a bad Russo's experience, please contact me... Although this pet store was clean the mental well-being of the animals appears to be low on the list. Puppies in the open area were showing signs of distress due to over-stimulation. The ones in the glass cages had zero interaction with the other puppies.It's difficult to morally support a store that doesn't put the animals first.

Russos is awful and clearly gets its pets from mills. I want this place shut down! I went in there one day and bought a collie from them. He has lots of problems and I don't support mills, but I couldn't help myself! He's the best thing I've ever spent money on. And he's so frickin cute! I mean, someone has to buy these dogs and give them a happy home regardless of where they came from...

imagine you are a young child put into a bright box which is maybe 1.5 times your size to eat, sleep, and poop. Your feet hurt because the floor is a metal grid, you do not get enough social contacts and, no fresh air are your day to day life....This place disgusts me! They use the pups to make money and do not care a bit for them. It is basically a baby prison! Buying a puppy here means supporting people who are only for profit. How else could you explain the lack of beds, green area to roam, and hygiene! STOP TORMENTING ANIMALS!! STOP ABUSING PEOPLE'S NATURAL FEELING TOWARDS BABIES TO MAKE MONEY!! This is a sad sad place!

Sells innocent animals from breeders and puppy mills. Why would anyone with a heart shop here? Truly a disgusting place. Do the selfish, heartless people that own this place realize how many animals are killed in California shelters? I bet they do and they don't give a darn.

I love this store. Visit it all the time and take my kids over the Holidays. We bought our precious Lola here after checking their credentials and their breeders. They take excellent care of their pets and check out on all the regulations.

don't buy pets there worst place ever i got two kittens one was a maine coon they sold it with giardia i tried to return it they didn't take it backi spent 1800 in that one he's been sick since thengot a sphynx days after he had an eye infection that he got from anther sphynx in the store his eye has been swollen I've taken both of them to the vet but apparently nothing has worked for both of them ;( this place should be shutdown (the eye infection is so bad that one of his veins exploded :( )
