We've tried Honu a handful of times since we moved to the SCV a few years ago. We're not anti-the big chain coffee places, but happy to support a local spot if the product is good.Re the good, the donuts are fantastic. They definiitely live up to the claim of at least among the best donut over. Nothing crazy like you might find at Voodoo, just super good donuts on a variety of basic flavors. They put to shame any other nearby chain donut.The coffee, however, has been hit or miss for us. The first time we ordered the Nutty Hawaiian it was great, strong coffee presence with the Hawaiian flavors creating a unique, bold and tasty coffee experience.The second time we ordered it, the coffee felt absent and it tasted like warmed milk and sugar. Bummer! Especially after loving it so much the first time. Okay, maybe they had an off day...we waited a while, came back several months later to cap off a Farmer's Market experience and ordered it again. Donut -- on point, but same disappointing Nutty Hawaiian. My wife even specified to make sure the coffee presence was strong in the drink, which was responded to with sort of a non-committal "okay." Same result...warmed milk and sugar, no coffee flavor, and not really any discernable elements of the Nutty Hawaiian flavors of one of their "signature drinks". So now I'm thinking that's the norm and not the amazing one we first had.A coffee-forward coffee shop should have excellent coffee. Unfortunately, that hasn't been our experience.We'd definitely come back for more donuts, though.

First time trying this coffee shop. I found this place from a Local Guide on Google maps. They are right about Honu Coffee. This coffee house is a local destination for having their favorite cold/hot beverages and assortment of pastries. A pet friendly environment. I found the facility lacks inside tables with more seating outside. I wish they had comfortable seating. The Staff is friendly and knowledgeable about their products/beverages. Honu Coffee is a great place to get your favorite drink.Vegetarian options: Vegan pastry

The atmosphere is cute and cozy. Not a ton of space inside, but some nice outdoor covered patio seating. The prices are pretty steep but that’s to be expected. Their dirty chai is fantastic! But to be honest they don’t serve coffee, they serve sweet milk with other sweet flavors and then a subtle hint, reminiscent but barely recognizable, of coffee.

Just tried out this cozy coffee spot and it's a gem! The aroma hits you as you walk in, and the baristas are friendly. The espresso had a perfect kick, and the atmosphere was just what I needed to unwind. Definitely my new go-to spot for a caffeine fix! ☕

I LOVE this coffee shop! It's got a great vibe and lots of places to sit to chat or study. I got the Nutty Hawaiin with macadamian milk and it was SO good! I don't even live in the area but have stopped here a couple times during my work commute. Sometimes it's quick and sometimes the line can be long, but either way it's worth it! The staff are super nice too. Check it out!

I got a sugar free vanilla and caramel latte, it was fabulous! I also tried the breakfast tacos, made with eggs sausage cheese and tater tots, all on a fresh home made tortilla. Over all the experience was a delight! They have outdoor seating, but the tables are small, really only comfortable for two-three people. But I was happy to see chairs with no arms so I wasn’t worried about sitting.Parking: There is a farmers market near by that made parking rather difficult to come by, but it also gave us something to do!

The best coffee house i have been in so far. Am not a coffee drinker so i drink lots of tea. I have white vanilla tea and it was so favorfull. I enjoyed my tea upstairs on the sofas escaping the labor day heat. The atmosphere there is wonderful and the staff are friendly.

Even Starbucks would be better.Not only are they slow, the drinks coffees are some of the worst I’ve had in a long time.They charge premium / third-wave prices but are making drinks at the level of a gas station.The cappuccino was pure, solid foam. The Cortado had no foam whatsoever.I am really surprised how this store achieved a 4.7 rating on Google.

I'm not a coffee connoisseur but I'm in love with this coffee (formed as a latte)! There's great quality in it. It doesn't taste cheap and neither it nor the complementing syrups make me crash.I started drinking coffee more after having a kid. Before, I only went to Coffee Bean when I lived near one, which was maybe once every couple of weeks. But I moved to SCV and Coffee Bean wasn't feasible since my intake jumped to multiple times a week, so I tried Honu one day. I have not had better coffee anywhere else since.

I hate to write bad reviews for local businesses but as you can see, basic customer service not met at all, they didn’t every worry about changing the cup and gave it to us like that. Maybe because we are not white people

I adore honu! From it's cozy loft to it's incredibly drinks, it's the perfect little coffee shop. Not only do they have spacious out door seating so I can bring my dog, they also have gluten-free options such as scones, cake pops, ect. This is not the norm so it makes honu the perfect place for a coffee date with your gluten- intolerant friends and loved one's. I've attended a few night where they have had live music and really enjoyed myself.

I have always loved this coffee shop. The drinks are good, the staff is friendly, and the atmosphere is perfect. I love when they host local artists and wish they would do it more often. I have seen them accommodate people and often students in many ways over the years.The only thing they need to improve upon is their wifi speed. Their wifi is quite slow and discourages me from going at times because I need wifi to work and the slow wifi really slows down my work progress.

Best Chai Ever. Seriously, try their chai… dirty if you’d like. Take some chai home!I “discovered” this gem while needing to replenish my depleted strength following an exhausting hike to the Devil’s Chair. I was on my way home to LA when I opted to stop here after a quick Yelp search showed promise. Alas, my energies were restored and I have been frequenting this coffee paradise sines then!On one such trip, I brought a friend who was low in spirits because of… life, and following her introduction to a warm chai beverage, she remarked with glee that sipping her drink was tantamount to sipping Christmas in a cup!!! And she lives for Christmas!Honu is clearly doing something fantastic with their drinks. Come here for the happiness! I look forward to my next visit!

Hawaiian style coffee. Nice location, helpful staff. Lots of choices, including various types of milk substitutes. Food choices include cookies, muffins, croissants, empanadas.

The staff is friendly. You place your order at a counter. There are plenty of yummy bakery treats. You can sit outside, or on one of two floors inside. The Chai Tea is amazing.
