The people working in this store have a huge attitude. It was my first time trying to sell items and wasn’t aware of all the rules. Most of my items are barely worn or new but as I stored them in a bag some were crumpled. It was ok that they did not accept most of them but it was the way they said it that was rude as though you were trying to sell trash to them. The worst part was while they are so picky and snotty about buying your items, the items they sold weren’t even great. when I asked if I could try the toy (to make sure they are working and ok) their reply was very icy and snobbish “we test everything we have (how dare you even ask this)”. We got a unicorn rocker from them and when we went home to clean it, a dried up piece of cockroach fell out from the toy. It was absolutely disgusting and horrifying. Overall bad experience. Can’t speak for other stores but this one sucks.

Honestly this place is crazy great with gently used baby stuff..I am first time grandma and my daughter has nothing and this place is a life saver.Love their deals which I didn't even know about until Stacie thats work there told me.Stacie was super sweet even got a cart and sorted everything out love her great associate!!No doubt a true hidden gem in Newark 🤩

Cute place and love once upon a child, did have a couple issue with the owner I think he is very picky and plays favorites when it comes to customers and is very judgmental. There were a couple issue with him I had regarding his terms that were no where to be found anywhere in his agreement showing his terms and conditions so basically he kinda just made it up when I I approached him about it instead of talking it out and being flexible and understanding he’s just kind of a rude person to be working there.

I have been a customer for many years and have found a lot of great clothes and toys for both my kids here. I have saved so much money by not buying their clothes and whatnot brand new. They just had a clearance sale and I got a lot of great clearance toys for like $1-5 that would otherwise cost upwards of $15-30 new.It seems the negative reviews are from people who can’t follow directions (if you want to sell, there are simple rules many people are incapable of following) or people who are angry the store owners won’t buy their garbage for top dollar. I have always had a great experience buying clothes for both my son’s here and selling also. I am always pleasantly surprised with how much I’m offered for my son’s clothes that I’d otherwise donate. Most of the time, they only take about 1/3 to 1/4 of the items, which is fine. The wait time is always long, so I’d only come to sell if live in the area or have errands to run. Overall, the customer service is usually good, great prices when buying clothes (I can buy 5-6 clothing items for the cost of one at target or carters) and pretty generous offers for clothes I’d otherwise donate. No parent buys their kid’s clothes for the ‘resale value’ - so getting anything for used clothing is appreciated. I think before you come to sell expecting a full return on your investment for your used and worn clothes, you should probably give yourself a reality check

They are always friendly and welcoming. This store is very organized & has a great quality selection. Seems like their inventory changes a lot. I love how sustainable this is. I know you can use apps or go to thrift stores but it’s always a gamble. Here, I always find what I need.

Honestly will ever be returning to this specific location. The workers are rude. They don’t care about the customers. I’ve had to walk in carrying really heavy items and they had me assemble it myself. Didn’t help at all. Then they rejected me and had me carry it out myself. Because of a “spot” on the seat. I’ve come in three times with brand new items. Rejected every time. It’s not my times that’s not being taken it’s the way they handle it.

I went here to sell some of my child’s clothes and toys and was pleasantly surprised by their huge collection of clothes and toys. The staff is really helpful and took time to go through all the items I brought which included a big box of clothes ranging from 0-12 months and strollers and toys and gave me a quote. I think the price offered is quite reasonable and I look forward to visiting again. Also for anyone looking to buy really good quality hand me downs this is the place to go ♥️

Recently sold here and I felt the staff was very rude. Usually I don’t leave reviews and I shrug off ppl behavior because it’s not worth the energy but they were really just not giving good customer service. I shrugged it off and left to wait a few hours for my items to be processed. When I came later for pickup I witnessed them being even ruder to a few customers as I looked around. My 16 yr old turned around abruptly and couldn’t believe how they were talking to some customers. If they are going to turn ppl away at a certain time it should be stated on the site that you have to wait 2-3 hours to process items and don’t bring them after 3pm. Instead of using my money to buy things from them my kids and I just left. They took quite a few of my items and it was nice pocket change. I still took a full bin of unworn Nike, Adidas, etc clothing/hairbows and brand new Vans, Converse, uggs and sandals that they didn’t purchase to the donation bin up the street because everyone around me including myself is having boys and I had no room for the baby girl clothing. They need to take a customer service course bcus their attitudes stink.

I love this store. The people that work there are really nice and I’ve been able to find awesome stuff. I recently found a brand new scooter for 15 dollars and several basically new pairs of shoes. This store is awesome as kids go through things so fast. It feels great to be able to reuse things!

Seem to get more when Nolan isn’t there. Ladies that work there are literally talking “ish”about every person walking out of the store but being nice to them in person. I don’t leave reviews but that really bothered me. They are rude older ladies. Otherwise it’s a good place to make a few bucks instead of just dumping it in the donation bin. Just wish had better customer service. Majority of the time they are rude.

I'm writing this in response to some of the negative reviews this business has received. I've been to Once Upon a Child numerous times, sometimes to sell toys/clothes my kid has grown out if, sometimes just to look around for something new. Not ONCE have I encountered a rude or disrespectful employee; the owners of the franchise and everyone working for them have always been friendly, upfront about how much I can expect to make from selling to them (it's used stuff, people, stop whining about how little you get! They have to make a profit too) and have diligently answered all of my questions. I have however, multiple times, overheard entitled customers being rude to the staff. Bringing in things they can't buy, like car seats - it's the law! - or dirty, ruined clothes, then complaining that they 'drove all the way there' and so on and so forth. And people complaining that some of their stuff wasn't purchased by the store, then turning around and saying their merchandise isn't quality. As if. We are lucky to have a little store like this that sells quality used toys, clothes, strollers, shoes, costumes and everything we need for our little ones, at steeply discounted prices. The fact that they have to put up with rude, whiny customers who have no clue how capitalism works is terrible, but they do it with a smile and sure as hell don't give these people a piece of their minds like I'm sure they'd like to! Great place, I will always be a customer.

This is my all time favourite place to shop for my baby! We have got her tons of onesies, some clothes, toys and even hats. We even bought a hair chair and swing for her. Highly recommend it if you’re looking to save money on baby products or just want to be environmentally friendly by using second hands stuff.

We love this shop! The staff members are very friendly and super helpful. We have had nothing but positive shopping experiences. We have sold and purchased items and have been treated very well every single time. All items are in excellent used condition and pricing is very reasonable. I definitely recommend checking this place out.

had a really bad experience today. I was looking for a place to donate my baby gears, it's such a waste to toss them into recycle bins, and while this is not a charity it's about the once place that takes in baby gears in the bay area. so I drove 30 min one way there, only to be told that my stroller is of a bad model, my tryke is not clean enough (there's a spot on the inside of the sun shield, that's fine, I took them back to my car, and waited for them to evaluate the clothes I brought along. All the clothes were washed from last use and held in a bag in garage, but per the direction of their website I packed the clothes into a box nicely. And you know what, they told me none is acceptable - they are too dirty/old/foreign. I couldn't believe what I heard, so they said the Uniqlo pieces that i bought in SF is not of US size, the Carter jacket is not acceptable as it's supposed to be in 3 pieces (the hat is missing) and when I asked, what's wrong with a body pajama that's barely worn, they ran out of reasons and kept fumbling around, and whola, here's one 2mm long thread at the bottom of this one! What's more, the manager Nolan even picked up one linen one piece, which is of course wrinkled, with his figure tips, as if it's a dirty diaper, and asked me, would you buy it? would you buy it? While it may seemed to him that I was the one taking money from him (as I am the seller), this store only exists because of the sellers! based on what I get from the three pieces that they managed to take in, versus the price I see from the store, they make a hefty profit on these sellers! What a rude and condescending for no good reason store!

If you are dying desperate need some one to fool you around and treat you like a trash, you are welcome to feel the vibe. I would rather give zero stars. I went to Once Upon A Child to sell some new toys and almost new and new clothes for a boy toddler. The staff (an elderly man) was beyond rude. I simply asked if I can go through the items with them and how long do I wait. The owner and her staff proceeded to force feed their stellar reputation on me and the guy referred to me as the only second “paranoid” person who wondered about leaving their items with them during the unclear statement about “45 minutes” to either go through or wait. I responded, “should I wait here 45 minutes until you call me or does it take 45 minutes to process?” I was not sure if I will wait or leave after they only asked me why I was still there by the counter waiting. I am floored about how rude the person who runs this store is along with that staff member. It’s sad that they are not thankful for the opportunity to exchange services with patrons, but rather take a judging condescending attitude, bordering on abusive. I hope people reconsider selling their items at stores who have a non-grandiose but rather pleasant attitude.

Excellent store for secondhand children’s clothing, toys, and more! On top of the low prices, they also have a loyalty program with a additional discounts and frequently hold sales of 50-60%! I have saved so much and found excellent quality clothes. The staff are also very nice!

Love this place. It's always clean. The clothes are all organized by size. Everything is labeled and organized to their best ability. (Occasionally something is out of place/size order wise, but I'm sure that's just from customers putting things back in the wrong spot). You don't get a lot back from what you bring to sell, but they sell at such a low price to us as customers... keep in mind they've got to make a profit on these items. So if you're looking to make more money- I'd suggest selling the better items on a FB buy/sell/trade. Or giving this company first pick of your items and then selling a bulk deal on buy/sell/trade groups. They're super busy for buy backs on the weekends, so keep that in mind and try to get there early. I've always been able to drop off and come back before closing. They've always been super friendly to me, the owner has even discussed why sometimes he didn't take more; i.e. "Jean pants with out back pockets don't sell" at their store. Weird, but they know what sells for them, and they buy those items back.

I wish I'd started coming here sooner! My baby's almost a year old, so I needed to get him some new staples for his wardrobe, as he's outgrowing so much of his clothes now. Some of the items I bought still had the original price tag attached, and we bought them for over 60% below the original tag! We will definitely come here again the next time we need to update baby's clothes!

The store is fabulous with great things at s good price!! But I came in to sell just a few items and I had to wait about an hour or more and after to tell me they only were getting 2 items not even paying more than $3 wow I missed my appointment, waited for that. Anyway I used the credit to buy one newborn pj and left....the employees were ok and i called prior to coming to make sure they buy those things and they didn't get it all. Oh well

Great place to buy and sell gently used or new baby/children clothing and shoes. Although some of the shoe bins are mixed with sizes and some shoes are junky, i have found some really cute shoes at a good price for my daughter.You can also sell them items. They dont give you much for your items because they sell them at low prices so it doesnt matter if it is new with tags, you might still get $1. It is a quick way to get rid of your good quality items though.Staff here are always friendly and welcoming. They even let you know about additional discounts you can earn. Great sales too.

Great selection of baby clothing. They had a lot of baby swings and such too. The clothes were organized by size, but seemed to be somewhat mixed up. They made good use the vertical space for showing clothes which means you will be very low to the ground to search through it all.

To start with lady behind the counter was not very obliging. Plus I had specifically enquired if they wld take care seats only to be turned down at the store saying it's against law. I also wanted to check over the phone for the items which they have stacked already so that I don't have to bring them. But they refused to do it over phone, only to turn down a couple of items at the store saying they already have a bunch. The service needs to be made more convenient for the customers and we sld also be given the correct info beforehand.

All I have to say is the older guy that works there is super rude every time I go there he seems in a bad mood! Bad service!! Not going back to buy or sell anything again! They buy things for super cheap prices and sell them for $10-$20 more! The clothes I bring is clean, in good condition and expensive brands! And still won't take them, they are super picky! Don't recommend it, don't waste ur time! (You're welcome)
