Wow!! Great sandwiches!!! We had the Gobbler and Reuben and we were blown away. Yes, they were a higher price point but they are gourmet deli sandwiches! It’s to be expected. If they are too expensive for you, don’t come here. That’s not a fair way to review a business. They aren’t going to lower their prices to accommodate the few who don’t want to pay. That’s not the way it works. I’ll be back for sure!! Thank you for the amazing meats

I finally stopped in and I am so grateful that I did. It takes passion and serious dedication to produce perfect sausage and top shelf cured meats. While I was here I had the good fortune to speak with the owner Kevin. He is a super cool guy that knows his craft very well. If you love all things pig as much as I do then I urge you to take the time to stop by this establishment and treat yourself. There aren't many old school sulumeria shops left. Do not miss out on this place!

Stopped by this local favorite for lunch today...Roast Beef (aka Roast Beast) was spot on and solid, the French onion soup was a warm welcome after a long rainy week. I also left with a tub of the Kansas City BBQ sauce to augment some brined and smoked baby back ribs at home for dinner...also well worth the money at a price point equivalent to grocery store gourmet BBQ sauce. As the grandson of a professional meat cutter (40+ years), that cures meats on a hobby/craft level, and prepares about 1500 lbs of meat and over 100 gallons of BBQ sauce for public consumption every year, The Ham Stand is 100% what I'd expect and a lot of extra nuances that are well worth the money for local craftsmanship and attention to detail.

Great little sandwich shop with good selection of charcuterie (cured meats and cheese). My favorite sandwiches are the roast beast and the gobbler (each $15)! The daily specials are amazing too!They also have meat from local farms, local wine and beer, bacon they cure in-house, and house-made sausages that are delicious! Check this place out if you get a chance!

Found it unexpectedly and it was great!Recently opened meat/deli market.Sausages, bacon, etc and great sandwiches fresh. Also fresh baked cookies... Chocolate chip and we also had Fennel/Pine Nut cookie that was super out of this world.

Great little hidden food place that I found while I was visiting town. I usually look for local places to try something new and different. Boy did I find the place. After talking to the owner he recommended the Reuben sandwich. This sandwich blew my taste buds through the roof it's made from slow cooked brisket paired with sauerkraut and melted cheese and a side pickle. What a beautiful balance. I was back there again the next day to get three more for my family. I live in Sacramento and I would drive there just for this sandwich. $15 for this sandwich is a steal. Also enjoyed the bacon.

Today I had to rereview! My turkey gobbler was SOOO delicious! And my son’s Ruben- stellar. I am a somewhat frequent visitor and am NEVER anything but happy, satisfied and grateful for all the wonderful food. TY Ham Stand. A local treasure to be sure ☀️🎉💖

My absolute favorite spot in the area. I'm ashamed to admit the number of times I've found myself coming in multiple days in a row. All the employees are knowledgeable and clearly enthusiastic about their product and process, I've yet to have a recommendation go wrong and honestly don't think I could considering everything I've tried has been worth talking about. Photo attached shows the Cosmic Roots Dry Cured Bacon that I cooked up, just look for yourself. You get what you pay for and each item is an experience in itself, I just cannot say enough good things about this place and will be happily returning for as long as I can.

WHAT!! This place is all the way off the meat hook! So amazing, hard to summarize...Got my 2 year old back into eating meat with their bratwurst! Absolutely the best meat in town, sorry SPD, sorry Briar Patch ;)Just grabbed some sausages for my Birthday lasagna and Oh my! Thank you guys so much for bringing the independent butcher shop back to Nevada City. A dedicated meat market, albeit small; is well received! HIGHLY recommended to all. Stop by with a special order or grab something off the shelf for dinner tonight!

We just had one of their gobbler sandwiches and were completely flabbergasted at how delicious it was. They are a real gem and it's amazing to have that quality of food in Nevada city. The bread alone was amazing, not to mention the meat. And the chocolate chip cookie too! Very impressed.

Picked up a Reuben here to go and it was fantastic. The Pastrami was generous, the kraut was tasty, the bread was thick and flavorful. Definitely going back.

$18 for a single sandwich, before tax. There isnt a cheaper option. They are relatively small sized sandwiches as well. No thank youI have removed a star from my review after receiving a rude response from the owner. I have also added more detail below.I've been there twice before and the sandwiches were $15. Spent over $100 on my first visit, kept trying to figure out why it was so expensive, and only enjoyed the Ruben. I came back a second time to try the meatball sandwich at $15 and the entire sandwich was smaller than my fist. The third time I visited because I was craving a Ruben, walked in and saw the prices were raised to $18 a sandwich, realized no sandwich is worth $18, especially ones as small as yours, so i walked out and decided I won't be returning.

Exquisite all around! The Reuben was naughty and highly recommend. The chicken sandwich was also phenomenal.We also got sausages to go:- Bratwursts were fat, flavorful, and authentically German style- British Bangers were out of this world, truly. Absolutely delicious.- the spicy snack stick was alright—a bit too soft / young / moist. I wouldn’t get this again.- the Landjäger was shorter and fatter and in the French style (white edible casing) compared to the longer brown anis sausages from Germany I’m used to. But the flavor profile was far more nuanced and just all around brighter compared to the more traditional ones (which tend to have too much salt and too much anis).For some reason, the cured meats are kept in cooler, not out hanging. So, if you buy the snack sticks, let them warm up a day or two outside of the fridge for maximal flavor and texture!This place is a gem.

One of the best finds in the area! You can’t go wrong with anything you order here and the staff is great!Edit: 2022: sadly have to deduct a star since original review…have been coming here since 2019 and have seen a lot of turnover of really great staff, huge price increases, and they are very inconsistent in food quality from sandwiches to the mac and cheese. Wait times also seem to be effected due to staffing shortages and for this reason I would call in food, however I was still often waiting double the quoted time (ie 20min became a 40min wait). I can understand the price increase with inflation and the staffing shortages post pandemic but I find myself coming here less and less due to these issues. The food is still great quality and for that reason I am leaving it a 4 stars instead of 3Second edit: 2023: I am soo happy to say that I am adding back my deducted star. Recently the management has changed and it has made all the difference! Better service, better quality food, delicious soups and sandwiches, great staff and they even offer a sandwich stamp card now. Happy to continue supporting as always, there’s no place quite like here.Third edit: I hate to do this but I am deducting a staff due to recent experiences. Many times they have not had stamp cards available so I just have up on that. The new staff seems friendly but the wait times are still pretty long. My main issue is again with the mac and cheese. It’s more cheese than noodles and hasn’t tasted right the last few times where I’ve taken 1 bite and thrown it out. Which sucks when it’s $4. Tried a brownie as well for the first time and it just tasted weird from sitting out in a meat shop lol. The sandwiches and sausages are great and I would recommend but Im kind of done ordering anything other than the soups or sandwiches here. And It’s quite pricey as well and I honestly just can’t really afford a $22 meal + tip anymore especially when I have repeatedly had to throw out the side.

My husband went in for the first time, ordered a Turkey sandwich on olive sourdough bread with a side of pesto potato salad, was hands down one of the best meals hes had in this county! The staff was extremely friendly and he can't wait to go back. Maybe next time he'll get me something ;)

Best Rueben on the planet. Don't believe the "too expensive" reviews. You cannot get this sandwich anywhere else around here. Layers of flavors.... There's so much going on here it can't be explained in a review, you have to just taste it to really know. Its no more expensive than a beach hut and it's in another galaxy. I'd stack this up against any deli in the country and that's no joke!

Wow. Every. Single. Time. Time in and time out The Ham Stand really knocks it out of the park. If it's busy they are smiling because they are grateful for all the business, and if it's slow they are happy to really take there time to show you all the amazing options for take home proteins or fresh made food. This is one of my favorite spots as a local foodie! Plus they just added an amazing outside eating area that is really great! Just waiting for beer on tap!

We had th Reuben sandwich, it was so delicious. They gave us look at the aging meat. Amazing. We also bought the beef stick, it was so delicious! I will be buying more soon. We bought Itaian sausage cant wait to try it. I'm sure it wont disappoint.
