Best local grocery store there is! They have their own brand for a ton of spices, sauces, and other things that are all good quality and really tasty. SPD is the only place I ever buy fresh meat because of how good the quality is, they have meat sourced from local farms as well. All of their grab and go hot food is really good as well. Great store overall, definitely my favorite

In a time when everything is so expensive due to the record breaking inflation problem in recent years, I can go into SPD Market and get a hardy breakfast for $3.50. You can't do that anywhere else. Nevada City is lucky to have such a Market run by people who care about their customers and community.

Wonderful locally owned family grocery store. SPD has the best quality produce around and you pay less than chain stores for several lettuce varieties. Also their Butchers are knowledgeable and stock very high quality meats.

Excellent fresh crab, great fish & meat counters. If you like going to a real butcher, go here. SPD Has everything; great food, baked pies, fishing equipment, a Post Office, huge selection of bulk goods & vast choices of beer. ALL of the staff, for 3 decades of us shopping there are OUTSTANDING.

Great place to shop. Fantastic selection that includes the local favorites South Fork Vodka and GM/GN Gin, showcasing a commitment to regional favorites. We also love the deli. Best sandwiches in town.

I bought a flank steak from the SPD butcher (grass fed beef), marinated the meat about 26 hrs, cooked it over a rotisserie, and it was best steak I had tasted in a very long time! I baked some hassleback potatoes, too. Excellent!

SPD carries a great selection. Their fresh produce section usually carry products that I can't find anywhere else. The meat section is probably the best in the area

I love SPDWe've been shopping at the store since 1977 when my parents moved up to Nevada county.At one time you could buy shoes clothing auto parts fishing supplies camping supplies you name it.It still has quite a wide variety of items and possibly the best butcher shop in the county.was happy to see that not much changed when my family moved back about 8 years ago to Nevada City.The people who work there have always been very friendly you feel like you're right at home oh andThe deli makes great sandwiches If you need a quick bite to eat.

It's a great place to shop. Good organics. Lots of variety. Even had a little hardware store inside.Great bakery / deli.Sometimes there can be a wait at checkout. They don't seem to respond quickly to long lines but getting cashiers up help out. But that's not a reason to shop here. Best produce in town. If you're expecting Safeway... It's not by any means. ITS SO MUCH MORE!

I love this market. The meat counter was well stocked with beautifully marbled steaks and the pork chops were perfect. The bakery goods were fresh, and don't forget to check out the pastries at the back of the market.

A friendly little grocery store.They have a nice selection in the produce department, and the meat department is accommodating and was able to meet our customized needs. On my last visit, they were able to make us 10 pounds of italian sausage.Their cheese selection is a bit small.The cashiers were friendly and pointed out that that my soup container was leaking, then they replaced it with no fuss.Pricing on the groceries is fair.Overall, I recommend coming here. See the difference.

Great family owned market that I frequented when living in Grass Valley and still frequent when I'm in the area. The market is a bit outdated with and old school foothills vibe. It's a bit dusty in places and you can definitely tell it's been here awhile. The staff are very friendly and willing to assist. They have a good selection of products and what looks like a good meat / seafood counter. There are also other items such as fishing gear and disc golf discs in the back of the store. The fact that they support the local disc golf scene is very cool and part of the reason I go out of my way when I'm in town. They usually have a great stock and wide variety of plastic to look through so if your into disc golf, this is a hidden gem. I would consider this a local market and not solely a grocery store, it caters to the surrounding lifestyle of the gold country. Local history that's worth the stop if your in town.

Generally a trifle overpriced, however, their sales are excellent, especially on organic produce of which they have a very nice selection. Meat section has soup bones (hard to find for dog), rabbit, quail, Cornish hens... things not easily found. And ground turkey for dog at same price as Grocery Outlet but even better? Wrapped by the pound vs 3Lb tunes you have to leave open in the fridge for a few days. Overall a well-stocked store with things not easily found in other stores. It's an IGA -- Independent Grocer's Association affiliate... Likely family-owned... that means likely to stock something you request. Definitely will follow the sales!

Grass valley spd has the best meet department that I've seen in the state. Excellent tasty cuts. Deli is good too and has big tasty sammiches for good prices
