Located in the heart of Nevada City, Communal Cafe is a delightful gem that never fails to impress. Exceptional service and inviting atmosphere, make it a favorite spot of ours for some time.The staff at Communal are friendly and fun and it's evident that they take pride in their work and are committed to continuously raising the bar. The atmosphere in the cafe is another favorite of mine, theres room to work, lounge and the long communal (see what I did there) tables make mingling with new people very easy and exciting, they also often have live music too.Any dish we've tried was delicious and apparently they're all from locally sourced ingredients, and their pastries, oh my god.I've definitely seen this place when it is slow and when it is way overcrowded on busy weekends when people from outside of town travel in, and all in all the wait for service or orders was always within reason.5 out of 5, you guys deserve it!

Great service, great food, great vibe and atmosphere. The basic breakfast was well seasoned. The extra crispy bacon was think dry and salted well. The eggs were fluffy and cheesed up great. There was a line and a few people working on their computers. I'm particular about my latte and I liked mine.

They go above and beyond to buy from local farms and producers, and the proof is in the pudding...and the coffee and pastries and meals.I love the seasonal drink menus. The Meadow Medley is a really nice treat. Their coffee drinks are also fabulous, and their beans are from a regional roaster.All the food is fantastic. But I especially love the bowls. The salmon bowl has perfectly cooked fish and an amazing vinegarette. I also love the potato bowl and my GF friends have great things to say about the paleo bowl. This cozy space is inclusive and has the most beautifully presented food. I got the Avocado toast on gluten-free bread and it was awesome! The staff is extremely friendly and customise your order to perfection.Vegetarian options: They customize their offerings the way you want it.Dietary restrictions: They customize for allergies and vegan and gluten-free diets. The presentation does not suffer due to what one orders.

So spacious, love the atmosphere and big tables. Plenty of outlets if you want to sit and stay a while to work or write or homework. Although I couldn’t get any work done because the flavors of the chicken gyro were so delicious they demanded my full attention. Flavor packed, tender, so yummy!!!! And the lemon lavender latte was also out of this world. Loved all the options. I was a little disappointed that the menu has changed as I was hoping to try their salmon toast and bomb sandwich.Their service is great though, and the avocado toast was pretty delicious! The flavor profile of the fairy matcha was a little bland however, as it's hard to taste the lavender or the matcha. The earth matcha was mostly milk, there is barely any existence of matcha. The churro donut, made up for it in taste, however, not sure if it's worth the price given its size.Overall, it's a wonderful atmosphere to relax in, however, food wise, I think I'll go somewhere else for a light meal.

I love this place. It is a great space: open and welcoming. They have the best cookies in town, and the few other pastries I ordered were delicious, too. It's the first place I want to hang out when I go into town. So why not 5-stars? They don't serve dark roast coffee! I really dislike medium roast and sadly, that's the only coffee roast Communal serves. I find medium roast to be sour and bitter. I would honestly spend more time and money at Communal Cafe on food and coffee if they just carried dark roast. Please, please, please consider adding dark roast to your coffee menu.

UPDATE: I've dropped my rating from 5 🌟 to 2 🌟 and back up to 4 🌟 . In the last two months, I've hit up communal at least 2 or 3 times a week. Throughout this time, I've had my order messed up five times (wrong size, wrong milk, etc) and my drinks made poorly (Luke warm, weak espresso, etc) several more times. At first, I was incredibly gracious about the mistakes but now that it seems like a pattern has emerged, I'm much less likely to visit or recommend this place as a spot for great coffee. To be fair, the atmosphere and vegan baked goods are still top-notch! The staff is also still friendly and the syrups are great.I've been drinking coffee at this location for years as it's gone through various owners and iterations. Communal's aesthetic, atmosphere, style, and quality of coffee sets it apart as an all-around better café experience! 10/10 would recommend it!! 😊Vegetarian options: Delicious vegan treats and drinks!!!

A bright friendly space with plenty of room to either sit at a communal bench, grab a table or relax in an arm chair.Whether making this a spot to be more social while working remotely, catching up with friends or just popping in for a coffee or bite, it's always worth stopping by.Vegetarian options: Plenty of vegetarian or vegan options

I have lived in Nevada city most of my life, and I have not experienced a better café/restaurant/pastry experience and bustling friendly communal internet workspace than what Communal Cafe offers. And I've just discovered that one of their sweetest employees, is also there fabulous pastry chef, who was trained in Paris, and makes the most incredible treats that I've ever had in our little town.Communal Café in my opinion is our finest food spot in Nevada city with the most delicious breakfast and lunch menu, and the warmest owners and staff. I love my little town of Nevada City and I am so grateful to have such a welcoming place to hang with friends and spend my remote workdays.Thanks y'all.

I was thinking this was mostly a coffee shop when I went for an afternoon chai latte, but then realized they have a full breakfast and lunch menu! I’ll definitely go back to try the food, soon.

This place has really good coffee. Their lattes have a nice strong coffee taste and they put just the right amount of vanilla syrup. Also, love the great ambience and space of the coffee shop which provides a peaceful place to get your work done.

Love this place! The passing of the superb Fable cafe was a sad time. However Communal has done an excellent job filling the void. Excellent coffee, excellent food. The big open space is a great place to bring out of town guests, or an excellent place to start your morning. Will try the local brew soon!Kid-friendliness: My son, age 12, loves this place.
