I don’t tend to write many reviews on things other than restaurants, but this hair supply store deserves one. I went in with an idea of what I needed but not sure of which brands were best or any additional items I might need. Staff was soo helpful. She gave honest opinions of the items and didn’t try to push one more than the other. She asked what I was intending to use them for and my skill level. The store is smaller but adequately stocked in my opinion. They even had items the larger stores didn’t. Definitely recommend

I don’t go anywhere else! Absolutely love that it’s black owned and I’ve never had a bad experience here! The staff is helpful and helps me pick all my colors because I’m indecisive and forgetful lol! 10/10 recommend over anywhere else!

I had such a pleasant experience here. I'm so new to braiding, and everyone was so so helpful. Judy and Cameron and one other lovely woman helped me, and we're so friendly and sweet. The products were a great price and there's an amazing selections of products. I was able to have someone braid my hair with the braiding hair I bought. I will definitely be back again

I love this beauty supply store. Small but stocked with all the necessities. The customer service the ladies provided was helpful and the prices are better than most stores in the area. Other beauty supply stores should take a note or two from this store!!!

The store sign said that it was open, the hours of operation was posted, but the store was closed. I called the store, there was no answer. It wasn’t even 6 pm on Friday. At least post a note if you have to close early.

Great black owned beauty supply store. Definitely has grown over the years. They sell everything from body oils to braid hair to edge control to hair dye to Afrocentric earrings. A vast array of products. They even offer professional hair care products like Keracare, Paul Mitchell, design essentials, etc. I love their body oils especially the juicy couture and Michelle Obama. Items are reasonably priced. Clean well organized store. Awesome customer service. Plenty of parking. A one stop shop for your haircare needs

The customer service in here is dope I forget her name but I visited August 13th 2022 around 10:30. A beautiful woman full of positive energy and if I lived in this area this would definitely be my two go beauty supply spot being greeted when I walked in the door and just her overall positive energy is definitely great for business. She even recommended a few spots for me to visit while on my trip she really has awesome excellent customer service!!!

It’s Small Business Saturday and I just had to support our Black owned small business right here in San Diego. Hilda was absolutely amazing and her customer service was the best I received at a beauty supply store in a long time. Black owned Beauty Supply Store! I've been with the owner, Bill, since his store's infancy. His store has grown to rival the Asian owned stores. He's knowledgeable about every single product in his store. The ladies that work in the store are also very helpful. And Bill is accessible, which is important if you have questions, comments or concerns. I will always support this business. ❤❤❤

Tho they did not carry the tape I was hoping for when I called the young lady in the front was nice enough to go over what they had and I was just as happy to give it a try. I also found a nice wig cap.

Berlen's is the ONLY hair supply store that I shop in. Bill, the owner, is normally around the area. If he is not, he picks up his cell phone every time. Berlen's has a large selection for a fairly small space in comparison to the typical hair supply store you might frequent.Top notch customer service, good people, good location (with parking) and all the supplies you need.#TheCassLife #TeamYouSN: The process of opening a beauty supply chain is tedious and difficult IF you don't have the connections or the look the suppliers require. I've been supporting Bill since his first year opening. If he has an opportunity (and is willing to speak on it) to share his story, ask him about the difficult challenges he went through with suppliers in order to stock his store. ✌🏾🌻❤

I decided I was going to grow my beard out as of recent and when I asked of some recommendations, Ana was able to recommend Johnny B. I gotta say, that made a world of difference to what I was using before. My beard is free of dryness and not itchy at all! Not only that but they have very reasonable pricing! I would definitely recommend this place as a go to for all your beauty supply needs! Thank you Berlen’s and thank you Ana for a fantastic recommendation!

Huge selection of hair products. They have the little extra accessories like, earrings, necklaces, hair bows, loc coils, cuffs, barretts and body oils. There is a small selection of human and synthetic hair available. Customer service was friendly and informative. So happy to see this business is black owned and will definitely continue to support!

I love this place, the employees are awesome, they cost a little more than the other shops & aren't as big but they still have a HUGE supply of GREAT items !!! There isn't a lot of parking but you can park directly in front of the shop and I have never had a problem parking.
