This is the perfect place to stop when traveling on the Auenue of the Giants. It has a beautiful campground. Clean restrooms and a museum and gift shop. Across the street is a trail to hike and see the Giant redwoods. Perfect for small children to walk and experience these giants.

Lovely drive. Take. Your. Time. Folks dash through this. They should take the State Road instead. Get a map from a rest stop before u go since they sometimes are out or you forget to stop and get one. Founders Grove well worth the walk. With all the (unfortunately additional) trees down signage difficult following path but worth the wander u til u find your way out. Good booklet inside for about $1. Invest.

Must visit this place when you are at the avenue of the giants. This center holds a variety of souvenirs for you to purchase, museums rich of redwood national and state park history, native stuffed animals models, information on self sustainable magnificent redwood biome and a lot more. They also display many historical figures and role of floods in shaping the redwoods national park. They have clean restrooms and have shorter trails around to explore. You can easily spend an hour or so depending on your interest.I would totally come back to visit this place.

We took a trip up to the lookout and really loved the trails around. We also went into the visitors center and took a look at some history and to grab souvenirs. Such a beautiful state park with sweet and kind people working there.

Stopped along the way to Prairie Creek. This park is incredible! Absolutely loved our hike and the visitors center. The museum has a right and left side with the gift shop in the middle. It was so busy in there we almost missed the right side of the museum.

Awesome visitor center. Very informative history and tree information. There are taxidermied animals too (mostly roadkilled). A large selection of stickers. Restrooms available for use. Rangers there are clearly passionate about the park and their craft. This is one of the stops along the auto tour. All of your purchases will go directly to the park! They planted a dawn redwood, coast redwood, and giant sequoia. The trees are pretty small compared to the rest of the park. They do have a cross section of a very old tree. They also have a theater area. There was a random domestic cat in the theater. Will definitely visit the park again when I have more time.

One of the more lovely stopping points during the epic drive through the Avenue of the Giants - a small gift shop, and then several rooms of museum with history, local information, maps, ecosystem dioramas, etc.Lots of cool info about the trees themselves, the wildlife, and plenty about the history of the national parks and protected trees. I will absolutely be back for the Banana Slug fridge magnets!Worth a drive and a stop to learn more about these magnificent trees!

What a great stop! Inside is a small gift shop, and museum. Although small the museum was packed full! Some very nice displays built inside. There was this awesome log truck too. Next time i would love to take one of the guided tours too. I noticed restrooms here, and an on your honor coffee pot too. Highly recommended stop.

Nice visitor center on our way up The Avenue of the Giants. Staff was vey helpful and marked several hikes and other places to stop along our route. Had a few exhibits in the building as well that were good. Bought a few postcards and got the local fishing report as well. Check out Charles Kellogs old wagon made out of a hollowed redwood tree.

Awesome informational setting with a friendly staff passionate about their focus. I honestly came here not knowing what to expect and left feeling that this place is probably going to be my favorite stop of my families 3600 mile road trip.I learned more about the area than I knew and especially enjoyed walking the trail to the river which is dry in August which only means you can easily take advantage of photo opportunities with the family.Must stop for anyone to enjoy the beauty of the California Redwoods.

Would be five stars but they need to mark trails better honestly had a hard time finding where the trail started that I wanted. Prairie Creek Park a deal north of here has much better marked trails. Still absolutely a gorgeous park however and I do recommend it.

Stop #3 on the Avenue of the Giants Auto Tour: "The visitor center, run by the Humboldt Redwoods Interpretive Association and many volunteers, is dedicated to making your trip more pleasurable by offering directions to local roads, trails, accommodations, and attractions. Proceeds from sales at the visitor center go back to local parks for displays, nature walks, interpretive programs for all ages, and publications. While you're here, use the free wifi to download the Discover Nature app...."

In awe... That's the best way to describe the sensation of being surrounded by 3, 000 year old trees. They're huge, magnificent and one of the oldest living things on Earth. It's not just a forest, it's an entire eco system and something to really stop to appreciate. One of the coolest things to see in my lifetime. I feel fortunate to have experienced it.

One of the rangers down by the flat iron tree told us to check out the Visitor Center - boy are we glad we did. Good Bathrooms (after traveling all week this was highly important to us.. lol.) Lots of fun little things all around both outside and inside the center. Sadly we only had a few minutes before it closed, but we still got to check it out. Lots of cool information and neat displays. Definitely recommend you check it out on the way through the redwoods.

The road was closed because of possible dangerous winds. Only the visitor center was accessible. Deers in the meadow easy to photograph.

Lovely little spot with free coffee and a fun little museum. This place is entirely free. They also have some nice little cards and magnets and other gift items to buy as mementos or gifts for friends and family.Their bookstore had a great range of titles. I appreciated their variety of titles by indigenous authors. And cause it’s important, bathrooms were pretty clean. But they are outside the main building.

The rangers are very helpful and friendly. They will totally point you in the right direction if there are specific things that you want to see while you are in the park. Definitely stop at the visitors center and read about the tree rings, the guy that sings bird songs, the wooden car, and so much more.
