My visit to Living Free Animal Sanctuary was nothing short of magical. The dedicated staff are truly remarkable individuals, showing boundless love and care for the animals in their charge. From the majestic horses to the affectionate dogs and cats, each resident is given the utmost attention and care. The opportunity to tour the sanctuary was a dream come true, allowing me to witness firsthand the incredible work being done here. If you find yourself in Idyllwild, I highly recommend visiting Living Free Animal Sanctuary. It's an experience that will warm your heart. You can also donate by purchasing some cool merch such as, tee shirts and hats to support the staff and animals.

This place is magic! The staff cares about the animals and it shows in how healthy and happy the dogs and cats are. If you're visiting Idyllwild, it's worth a quick trip over to Living Free to see the work they're doing. Highly recommend.

This is a great place to visit if you haven’t already because it’s a beautiful place and there’s plenty of cats and dogs there that needs a good home. So if you want to get away from the house for a few hours then you should check this place out. I don’t know if you can take your animals with you when you go up there so you might want to check it out for yourself

What an excellent way to end a beautiful day and drive on a birthday weekend. Finally took the time to stop by and visit with the cute kitties at Living Free Animal Sanctuary. The team there is so welcoming and willing to discuss the program they have to help at risk animals in high kill shelters make it out and to this lovely environment to live peacefully until they get a chance for thier forever home. The adoption prices are very reasonable and include spay/neuter, all shots and any preventative care each animal needs. They work off donations and adoption fees to keep thier animals thriving. Please go check them out if you are looking for a wonderful new addition to your family. I should of taken more pictures, but I was too involved with the purrs from the tummy scratches and ear rubs I was giving to each of them. Please swing by and help a furry friend find a great home.

This place is amazing! 🤗They have all kinds of cats and dogs and horses. All the staff are so sweet and welcoming. Except for the lady in the office with the colorful hair . She was incredibly rude even after my donation of 1100$. She ruined the whole experience . And shes rude every time I see her, so i know she wasn't just having a bad day.🤔

I loved how awesome the staff was! I was there to protect the structure during the bonita fire. The staff was friendly, and amazing with the animals. The experience made me wish I was there when things weren't bad or stressful. They all showed up in the middle of the night to evacuate the animals while we made sure the structure would be there in the morning. Great ppl. Great treatment for the animals. Seeing the happy 3 legged dog gave me so much joy to keep him, and his home safe!!

This place is just lovely. The staff are all very nice and care about these animals (Truly Care)! They aloud us to visit Charlie (aka Beluga) and bring her soon to be brother to get acquainted. The cleanliness and upkeep of the grounds and living quarters was impeccable. Charlie is settling in our home well and everyone that meets her, loves her. Thank you for all you do. Looking forward to visiting again soon

We came here for the first time. It was so cool being given a tour of the dogs and their housing by golf cart. Then we were able to visit all the cats in each of the cat rooms. The setup here is done so well that all sanctuaries should take a look at it for ideas. I high recommend adopting from here, too. Can't wait to visit again next time I'm up there.

This place is always so inspiring! Jo, the Education Leader is full of fun facts and interesting tidbits. I recommend this place if you're looking to adopt a new family member. The animals come first and are very well taken care of. I love their policy that an animal always had a home there even if they get returned or never adopted. Living Free, truly allows animals to Live Free!

Such a fantastic organization! You can tell just by talking with them they care deeply about these animals want what's best for them. The fact that they give people who are not adopting tours is amazing in my opinion. The animal sections are kept a very clean and have lots of entertainment for all the animals cats and dogs. When we adopt in the future we certainly will keep them in mind!

Wonderful sanctuary, I've been here twice on two different road trips. The people there are very kind, I have an autistic brother and they were very understanding. I would definitely recommend visiting, it is a beautiful place and all of the animals are well taken care of. :)

Haley is so helpful. We have a 501c3 and are able to bring cats and kittens up there for adoption after they've been tested and have had shots. They help Soldiers with PTSD with horses to work with.

These people do the most important work of rescuing animals. All staff are so friendly, helpful and have a genuine, heartfelt love of animals. The Cattery is impressive and heartwarming. The dogs are wonderful and sweet. They even have rabbits! Be sure to see the new Equine therapy program for Wounded Warriors. This project brought tears to my eyes. They rescue Mustangs and donkeys from the "Herd Thinning" so Federal land can be developed. If you love animals, you will become attached to this wonderful no kill sanctuary. Many thanks to all, including Rudy and Ray, who made our visit so very special. It was the perfect closure to my birthday weekend in Idyllwild. We will be back.

Moved into the area, lost a dear companion, visited this place and had to go back due to the classiest animal shelter I've ever seen. The animals are living in an old resort says the "tour guide" in the golf cart. This is where I found "Hans" the best dam doggie I've ever had. Been a month and can't be more happy with my new pal.

What a fantastic place. The work these people do is amazing. This is the second time we've come. This time we brought our 5 year old son. We hung out in the cattery for a while. Then saw the dogs too. When our current cat goes off to college we'll be getting a new friend here for sure.

This place is a wonderful place for animals. They take great care of these animals & save them from euthanization. They are a blessing for animals that are in need. Also, they provide help with getting your own pets neutered or spaded. I've taken my male cats and had this done. They did a great job. Except when one of my cats wasn't doing well after his surgery. He has was very ill, which, was obvious a reaction of some kind, as he was completely healthy until after the procedure. So, I called them & explained. They had the vets assistant call me back & they tried to call say it was nothing to do with his Sergery. Though, the after care instruction showed that lethargic, not eating, sleeping to much, among many other symptoms, would be signs of a reaction. He just kept getting worse & Lost alot of weight in 1 weeks time. Needless to say. They surprised me that their concern want there. They have great staff & their friendly & very thorough. They usually call & check on your pets are procedures. I was very disappointed it took him a month to get back to himself & longer before complete recovery. It s touch n go there for awhile. Please, don't take this 1 incident as a failure on this facility. They are a great place and do offer alot. I was upset that my cat suffered & they offered no help with his after care. They most always do! If my cat had not of gotten so ill after then this wouldn't have been an issue. Yes, it was important for him to have excellent care before & after. Though, I know mistakes are made & nobody is perfect. So, Allow room for improvement. We all learn! Next time I will make sure I ask question and stipulate I would like to have someone to call in case any problems arise with my cat/ pet after any procedure.

Beautiful setting for an animal sanctuary. The cats have an awesome house that they live in until they are adopted or are suffering too much to keep them alive humanely. The dogs have a cool house too(same length of stay arrangements at the cats) but you only get to say hi to the dogs whereas you can skritch the kitties. Employees are super friendly and can answer any questions you may have. They also work with wild Mustangs and veterans to help with ptsd and other issues. If you are lucky you can spot deer checking out the kitties in the windows or on their "catios". Other woodland creatures roam the property as well so plan on bringing a camera during your visit to capture some spectacular views. They cannot take animals from the public because of the licensing and grants that they have/receive. This organization specifically rescues animals from "death row" at other kill shelters. If they take animals from the public they will lose the licensing and funding that allows them to care for over 200 cats and dogs already living there, waiting to be adopted or not. Volunteer opportunities are available.

Living Free Animal Sanctuary is hands down the envy of all other shelter animals. Their adoption process is thorough. The dog we got from them is 7 years later still one of the best decisions we've made. Thank you Living Free!
