Little Rita is the best! She's serious but funny. She's honest and very helpful, as well as knowledgeable about her livestock and feed. She has a cool demeanor, but she's as friendly as they come! She's a consumate business owner and knows her business. I really appreciate that, especially when I have questions about anything feed and/or livestock! And things I know nothing about! Check out her beautiful, tiny resident rooster living large in the shop! Everyone who works there seems happy, helpful, and very personable! It's a good vibe spot that welcomes one in to explore the possibilities of almost anything from feeding infant kittens to owning a flock of chickens or maybe even raising a calf! Go visit the Hippie Chicken! They won't 'steer' you wrong! Lol No pun intended!

When you head up to Joshua Tree area, you tend to drive by the many, privately owned stores.Recently, with the purpose of exploring these shops we found many intriguing stores.This one is in Morongo Valley and even had baby chick's you could hold. Eclectic and fun.

I finally stopped in a couple years ago, been coming out to the desert 16 years, and am now full time local. This is one of my favorite places to support.This place is heartwarming my inviting and unpretentious. Rita, Patti, and Judy have all helped me immensely with their knowledge of chickens/chicks and how to properly take care of them. These ladies are the real deal if you’re open to listening you’ll learn a lot from them.I love the eclectic store everything from hand made local items and cbd, to vintage gems tucked in amongst incense and art work. Go support them they are really kind people that know what they are talking about. Also the dog is so sweet.Thank you ladies!

Cute animal feed store with vintage, handmade, and altered clothing. Get a business card for the store and Patty; she does custom clothing alterations to old clothes!Lots of cool metal work outside and a menagerie of decorative items inside. Theres some nice soaps and cbd products as well. I was surprised by the great brand of dog food they carry, along with various feed bags for other animals including horses and chickens.Patty was both super nice and informative, and the American bully mix named "Smash" is the sweetest shop dog. Very friendly boy.Got to see the black silky and some of the bunnies they had. Bought some cute earings, jeans, and fresh eggs with my friend.Totally recommend stopping by if you're ever passing through.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this place!!!! An eclectic little shop. When you first walk in, you'll be greeted by the pup ☺️❤️Small Town friendliness! The owner, Patti is SO cool!!! I love all of her stories 😍💕N the prices are phenomenal! I'm a local, so I frequently swing by when I'm either going down the hill to P.S. or on my way back home. If for nothing else but to say HELLO!

From the moment I walked in the door and was greeted by a purring cat, a friendly mini rooster who loves to be held and a very friendly little tank of a dog I knew this was a good place . Add to that the wonderful woman who owns it and this is a business that is heads and tails ( pun intended) above the rest. In addition to helping me pick the right food for my dogs she also carries a variety of eclectic and wonderful products for humans as well. I've been a customer ever since . Give yourself a treat and check it out . I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT !

Friendly people..fun store to visit. I have a picky cat. I really appreciated that they took the time to recommend what cat food to try. Turns out they were right and my cat likes it! It's also a convenient place to buy feed for my horses.

Always a fun and friendly atmosphere! Maybe Smash or one of the other furry friends will great you. Take your time lots to 👀! Rita is very good about ordering anyting that perhaps you want and she does not have. Even the CBD can be custom if you want a special flavor or something different. Oh yeah and yard art also! I adore going to The Hippie Chicken!! A store for everyone! Rita, the owner, is very knowledgeable about every aspect of feed for your farm animals and those furries who protect the farms. She also carries a wide variety of items for people, pets and your home!! Delightful and charming, Rita, can answer any question you may have. A must to stop in and see her chick's, roosters and her own 4 legged furry babies!! She has something for you!! Rita, has such a welcoming nature! A true gift for Morongo Valley!!!

I stopped in after seeing their We Have Chicks sign. Bought 2 Color Pack chicks from Jenks Hatchery at the Hippy Chicken. So nice and the owner is amazing. She didn't have the rare type chick I had my heart set on but couldn't find. When she called around and found they had some at The Corner Hay and Feed in Lucerne Valley she called to let me know she had found some available for me! Now that is something you don't see often! I drove out the next day and bought [redacted]chicks!THE HIPPY CHICKEN is amazing and I highly recommend this shop. Feed, gifts, it's like a feed store and boutique all rolled in to one. Go check it out!

The people there are great. I bought a big water tank. I didnt realize till I got home the lid wasnt on it. They made everything good. I got the lid. I am very happy. Mistakes happen. They make it right.

This place is super cute..nicest people there..got my chicks there ny kids love stopping in to see what new animals they have..Smashie always greets us when we walk in..they have a cool funny Rooster out front..a bunch of baby chicks inside..all sorts or cool things inside..small store but so perfect n cute.

BEWARE DANGEROUS PITBULLS!!!!I witnessed the owner's 2 large grey pitbulls attack a puppy in this store. The attack was unprovoked. A woman stepped in the shop with a puppy (leashed) and the dogs immediately attacked (cornered both) pushing them back into the corner of front door/wall. There was no wayout for either. The puppy and woman were screaming bloody murder. The pitbulls were finally restrained and she left.This attack was completely unprovoked. The attack happened immediately after she shut the front door, only a step inside.BEWARE! If you have a small child with you, you may want to shop at a different store. These dogs are clearly dangerous and they didn't listen to the owners who had to physically restrain them both.This is suppose to be a "feed store," which automatically lends one to believe taking your leashed dog inside will be safe. This is NOT a safe store. I DID NOTfeel safe. Considering what I observed, I was worried one or both of these vicious, uncontrollable dogs would turn on me next?Additionally, I will never shop here again because owners/staff didn't even go outside to appoligze or see if the woman and/or the puppy were okay. These are CARELESS and CLUELESS pet owners.ATTENTION: SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY ANIMAL CONTROL
