This is a fantastic restaurant. The buttermilk chicken sandwich and the tater tots are perfect. It’s a very pleasant place inside and out and the staff and owners are lovely. Taking my wife a Karaage chicken sandwich now because she loves spicy food and I think she’ll love this. First time of many visits, I’m sure!Kid-friendliness: Owners have kids - very welcoming. Kid friendly tables.

I came here to eat lunch with my boss since we were in a work trip. We ordered our food and they told us about 10 minutes. It wasn’t even ten minutes and our food was ready. When I opened my box, I was so surprised because the food looks really good and the best thing is that it tastes really good. I savor and enjoy the whole entire meal. The lady who took our order was really nice, lovely and professional and she helped me make a decision since it was my first time there. I will definitely be coming back to this restaurant.

Stopped by here while my pet was at the vet over lunch hour. Tucked away in the main (?) Moraga strip mall. Wow. Definitely in the top 5 chicken sandwiches I’ve eaten in my life. I got the karrage chicken sandwich and a side of sweet potato fries. Food came out very quickly. The chicken was perfect — crispy exterior, plump juicy tender interior, between two pillowy buns. Lamorinda - come check it out!!

I had a great experience at Lou’s Chicken Shop. The service was friendly and fast, and the food was amazing. The chicken was crispy, juicy, and flavorful, and the sides were delicious too. I especially liked the coleslaw. This is the best chicken place I’ve been to, and I can’t wait to go back. Lou’s Chicken Shop is a must-try for anyone who loves fried chicken.

Local high schooler here. Insane food experience at this place. Food comes out decently quick and the quality of food is always spot on. They still have some of the old menu items like the coconut curry udon which is spot on with spice and flavor. The new chicken sandwiches are great, although I only occasionally have them. 10/10 recommended.

Best Chicken Joint this side of Mt. Diablo. Cheapest beer in Moraga as well. I’m continually impressed by the quality of food and well thought out beverage selection… beer, wine and non booze drinks.Great ppl, great service, and they sure know how to prepare a yard bird. Delicious. Worth the drive.Parking: It’s Moraga.Kid-friendliness: Super friendly staff and plenty of space for kids to safely run around out front.

We don't eat out too often, so I didn't even realize that this place had been around for about a year. My SO had a craving for a fried chicken sandwich and we decided to give them a shot, and we are so glad we did!I would call this the best fried chicken sandwich in Lamorinda, and it's a reasonable price for a big sandwich. Sort of Bakesale Betty style, with a sweet soft bun and a lightly acidic slaw over breaded and seasoned chicken. Very little spice but it doesn't suffer for that.We also got the smoked fries which were delicious and very generously portioned/seasoned.Next time we're going to be sure to visit during happy hour which starts at 4:30 on weekdays. One of the offerings on the happy hour menu (as of our visit) was a "chicken bite" and fries combo for $8. Seems like an amazing deal on paper.They have plenty of other food options including some Asian cuisine. They also have beer on tap which included a few good quality local microbrews. Not a massive selection or anything, but worth noting.All in all, a great spot in Moraga that I can't believe we didn't know about before now. Definitely coming back again.

Miss the noodle house the same owner used to run but MAN the chicken is fantastic. Every time I go the portions are out of this world and the flavor is so sophisticated (which you can't say much in Moraga!). I always have this on my list of 'go to's' when I'm dining out in town. Pick up is also really easy so you can call ahead and eat on the picnic tables outside :)

This is arguably the best price to quality ratio of all of the restaurants in Moraga. Then, stepping outside of this town, the chicken sandwich and tater tots are still top tier. It’s delicious and you should give these people your business and try something new. Next time you’re asking which of the three surrounding pizza places you’re going to pick from, just try Lou’s and you’ll be happy. I promise. Also I think they have $2.50 PBRs.DONT SLEEP ON LOU’S. We need more places like this in town, and they are setting the bar where it SHOULD be.

This is my 2nd time getting food to go at Lou’s Chicken Shop. Glad to have such a versatile chicken place that offers so many different styles of chicken!The menu is deceptively short, but you can have a lot of different combinations for whatever food fix you are craving. It’s quite varied: Asian-Style (Korean, Chinese, Japanese); southern fried chicken, slaw and fixings; and Hawaiian-style Lunch plates!!If you like strong Asian flavors, Garlic Soy Glaze Chicken is the way to go! Carmel Fish Sauce Chicken is also a strong 2nd if you want a little less aggressive flavor but like the hit of umami and savory.I got the Garlic Soy Glaze Chicken sandwich and plate. Both were extremely filling. I enjoyed both. The Sandwich was large and packed with flavor because of the strong flavors of the chicken, kimchi and garlicky cucumber!If you’re in the mood for Hawaiian style plate lunch, the rice and macaroni deliver that experience and you have a lot of choices. The plates are filling and versatile. May initially seem like a lot of choices, but that’s what I like about it!I choose Teriyaki chicken plate with Spicy Sesame Slaw, which came with scoop of rice and macaroni salad; Chicken Karaage plate with Jalapeno slaw, came with scoop of rice and macaroni salad. Teriyaki chicken was a bit sweet for my taste since I generally favor savory tastes. The Chicken Karaage with aioli was crispy and delicious.*The new menu item Carmel Fish Sauce Sticky Wings were excellent. Even after the ride home, it was crispy and delivers on flavor! I would get this every time!Next time I will try a straight up Buttermilk Chicken Sandwich and a Kalua pork plate or sandwich! Wait, they have noodles too!

I was so impressed by the menu and even more impressed by the food! Got the buttermilk chicken sandwich & salad and the sweet potato fries and everything was so good. I especially loved the Thai Green Curry and yuzu aolis on the side. Good beer selection too! The owner was so sweet and made sure our food came out quickly before our movie. Give them a try!!

I had the Caramel Fish Sauce Fried Chicken salad and it was SO good. The chicken batter was crunchy, savory, & sweet and the chicken was juicy. The salad had a nice assortment of veggies to complement the umami flavors, and I can't wait to try something else on the menu!

There are many good things about their food, which make Lou's a 3-4 star eatery. What is missing is the breading is not crispy. On the chickens sand, loved the spicy slaw, flavor and cook of the chick, but the crisp was definitely not there. Hope it gets better.

Stopped here before catching a movie at the theater next door. Outdoor seating. Craft beer on tap. Amazing sandwiches. I highly recommend the caramel fish sauce chicken sandwich and an order of tots.

Loving most of the salads, especially the fish sauce one. The herbs in the spring mix plus fried chicken make the whole thing taste like a fresh AND fried spring roll. Delicious!
