It's the first time I use it. this hotel on holiday weekends But it really is a disappointment. On the website it never indicates that Wednesday and Thursday are closed. I found the key in the front door of the hotel. Where the restaurant and other access is closed. I think it is disrespectful to all customers to let us know that those days are closed. Also the sink and shower are fully equipped.When I made the reservation at no time did it indicate that those days were closed, I had the intention of having breakfast at the hotel and enjoying the view of the river, but that is impossible, I think they are lying to the clients, there must be more information. About.I really don't recommend this place much less to family or friends.😨

Enjoyed every moment here. Quiet,serene and hospitable staff. It is an older Inn that is all updated. Rooms are smaller and simple but the beds and bedding are wonderful. Bathroom had plush towels and plenty of toiletries. The breakfast that was included was an enhanced continental type and satisfied. The dining room and bar are beautiful and overlook the Russian River. The Inn is well located and near fun quaint shopping in Guernville. We would go back for sure.

The Highland Dell is amazing. Even without the incredible views of the river and opportunities to see amazing sunsets against a stunning backdrop of the redwoods.The food is authentic German with great care in the flavors and presentation, but my favorite part of this place is the option to cozy up with a few pals at the bar or enjoy dinner with a large group of friends in the huge main room. It’s a great place to see friends, meet new people and listen to live music.

The architecture is of German descent I believe and shows fine wood working craftsmanship.Rooms: Very attractive rooms, very clean and well decorated!Nearby activities: River activities.Safety: Great neighborhood.Food & drinks: Gorgeous dining room, the breakfast was free with the stay and the perfect options. Our party of five decided to visit the Highland Dell for some beverages and a meal. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by the delightful owners who made us feel right at home. We began our evening at the bar, sipping on some fine wine. As the night progressed, we settled at our table and each ordered the Jaegerschnitzel, accompanied by German Spaetzle Pasta and German Style Braised Sauerkraut with Bacon and onions. The meal was nothing short of fantastic. After dinner, the owners joined us, engaging in lively conversation and sharing captivating stories. We always adore spending time at this charming establishment.

I've lived in the area for almost three years now and only recently found out about the Highland Dell from a neighbor. The location is really rustic, and the place is beautiful. I've never stayed the night so I don't know what the lodging is like, but I do know that the food is delicious. On Tuesdays, there is a locals special, chef's choice three course meal for about $20 per person after tax. The first time Boyfriend and I went was the week of St. Patrick's Day. They served split pea soup, corned beef and cabbage, and I don't remember what the dessert was because I gobbled it up so fast. The second time we went, they served a blue cheese salad, pork schnitzel, and an apple crisp dessert. Every time we've gone, we've been very impressed by the meal and the servers. We will definitely keep coming back on Tuesday nights. We have yet to try anything on the regular menu.

I highly recommend the Highland Dell. The staff is really friendly and welcoming and they make you feel like they are happy that you're here. Its quiet and peaceful outdoors and indoors, and the rooms aren't very large, but they're big enough to be comfortable are they're very clean. The hotel sits in the shadow of the ancient redwood giants just behind it and it overlooks the most beautiful part of the Russian River. I've been coming here for years and I love the place. The restaurant and bar aren't always open but when they are you should check it out. The food is the best in the area. 5 stars for sure.

Okay listen. I came here totally randomly for work. It was the best deal in the area for Tuesday night. This hotel is rad. I feel like I'm in a fairytale world out here. The rooms are definitely smaller and simpler, but it's so cute I don't care. You're right on the river. The dinner is decent and you can sit on the patio. Special 3 course deal on Tuesdays (lucky me). 11/10 came here on accident 10/10 would come here on purpose.Edit: I forgot to add the reception dogs.

Claims to be a three-star hotel. NOT.Photos of the typical room shows a regular bed with a headboard and actual furniture night stands.- What we got was a queen mattress on TWO TEMPORARY FOLDING TWIN BED FRAMES WITHOUT A HEADBOARD. Pillows on the bed are PROPPED DIRECTLY AGAINST THE WALL.- The nightstands were TV TRAYS.- Besides the bed, the only place to sit down in the room was one of two FOLDING CHAIRS.- The room description said there were blackout drapes or blackout curtains in the room. The room actually has dark roller screens which allow no privacy, and virtually no room darkening.- At 9:30 pm, a strong smell of PineSol, Mr. Clean, or Zep Commercial Cleanser permeated the room. It burned the backs of our throats and never abated until checkout.- There is no closet in the room, only four wall hooks.- There is very little space, due to the lack of furniture, to put anything down.- The sink and the bathroom are separate. The sink is next to the bed, and is tiny. Just above the sink is a narrow glass shelf, making the sink even harder to use neatly.- The toilet is the small round style, and the shower is surrounded by failing tile. Historic, right? Un-maintained is more like it.- We got the impression the hotel management slapped together this room, or that we had done something wrong and this was the time-out room for bad guests.- The breakfast that comes with the room is packaged yogurt and bagels and coffee. That's it.- $200 for the night.I will post photos of items mentioned here.

The highlight of our weekend returning to our childhood roots was staying at the Highland Dell Lodge in Monte Rio Ca.Having the pleasure of spending a couple great evenings with Ingrid and Cornelius,who served us up the most fabulous batch of pink grapefruit martini's created by none other than Ingrid, which we now call the "Pink Ingrid"Best drink in Monte Riop.s. food was fabulous and rooms were sweet we certainly will be returningthe French sisters10-15-22

We only ate at the restaurant, and it was bad. Chicken appears to be precooked either by the kitchen or Tyson. 9$ potato pancakes are served with dipping sauces that they charge you extra for without notice. Even the brats tasted like they were cooked and reheated. We will never go back here.

Location and service - Awesome! Highland Dell Lodge has one of the best locations if you enjoy swimming or kayaking in the Russian River. The restaurant has good food and the service is top notch. They are DOG FRIENDLY.One negative. Maybe because of floods or it’s location on the steep bank, the building or at least the floors in the room are noticeably slanted.

We came here for a weekend getaway. I was not able to truly enjoy my stay since I became incredibly sick after eating at a local restaurant the following day. Even though I spent most of the time sick and sleeping, I was shown so much care and concern by the lodge manager that I absolutely must give a 5 star review and give a heartfelt thank you. I look forward to going back soon.

Hidden gem and great restaurant! There are not many places to eat around here. We found the place just by chance when looking for dinner. The menu is actually German. This was a nice surprise. We had the Vienna Schnitzel, the Hungarian Goulasch and the fresh baked Strudel. We also ordered as side dishes the Sauerkraut, the Rothkohl and of course the Spaetzle. This was all a delicious feast! While waiting for our take out food we looked around this hotel restaurant and noticed that the place is very nice and very clean. A spacious place with beautiful high ceiling. This hotel and restaurant is a hidden gem located at the Russian River in a very small place called Monte Rio. Definitely a must go when in the area.

The hosts are as friendly and nice as if they were your relatives. Their beautiful small bar area is just right for drinks before or after dinner. My rooms have always been excellent, so has dinner and the complimentary breakfast. I have stayed in the largest room with a view of the Russian river, both 2nd floor river view rooms and just a plain old room, all were just fine. I look forward to a glass of wine and sitting on the deck at the end of the day.

The Inn was nicely decorated in the main room and bar. However, the rooms were sparse. The deck looks out over the river and is very nice. The inn keeper is nice and very helpful. Our TV broke and he promptly fixed it. They include a decent breakfast. With chocolate croissants! They also allow guests to use canoes and all the fixings. There is a small dock on the property but al oust dangerously steep to get to it.The rooms did not have the basics. Not even a chair. No in room coffee or fridge either. The restaurant was closed which made not having access to a fridge or microwave difficult. The bar is only open in the afternoons. The worst part of the stay was when the inn keeper leaves around 6:00 he locks all the open sitting areas except the front room. Which means no outside sitting at all. They have a great deck but you can't use it after 6:00... What the heck!My family and I had to get in the car and drive across the bridge to the beach. A big disappointment considering they advertise beach front property.All in all we enjoyed the stay. If the price was more affordable given the lack of amenities I might go back.

The hotel is nice looking and very clean. Since it is rustic, the small rooms (smaller than cruise ship cabins) are no problem. The thin walls permitted me and my wife to enjoy our neighbors conversations, which were humorous. They provide high def TVs, but on a pay per view basis. Anything you want to see, costs per hour. We only ate in the dining room once. We ordered the Chicken Marsala. I would not eat there again, if it was free and I was starving. My wife spent the next 24 hours in the bathroom. The chicken was undercooked, there was no Marsala sauce, and the mashed potatoes should have had bangers sitting on them. The staff were all very pleasant and personable. The hotel is fine as a place to sleep for the night.

A lovely and romantic lodge. It’s so beautiful in that area; I wish we would have stayed more nights. We stayed during the holidays and it still felt safe with covid precautions. Special shout out to Herb, who provided a lovely breakfast (coffee, orange juice, croissants, hard boiled eggs, snacks) and helped us out when everything was closed for Thanksgiving.

Highland Dell Lodge is a great little getaway. The staff is great they make you feel right at home. I've been there twice and it's been the same great service. It's about 10 minutes away from Jenner by the sea and lots of places you could stop and shop at the little stores. Also right by the water. Can't wait to go back

Attended a pre-wedding meet up here at the bar. The staff was wonderful, even under pressure of so many people. Drinks were nothing fancy; just standard bar fare. A nice chill pub atmosphere. And a lovely deck with a view over the river bank.
