I started bringing my Maggie here as soon as she was fully vaccinated, so about 4-5 months, to help her socialize, and she absolutely loves it. They group the dogs according to size and temperament and watch them closely. The staff is always happy to see her, she's like Norm walking into Cheers 😂 They have healthy meals and treats, or you can pack their lunch. She comes home EXHAUSTED which is the best part!!UPDATED to include pics of Maggie and her bestie, Gambit, as puppies, and grown ❤️

Lisa Moore and her incredible staff have taken care of my dogs for more than 20 years. The work they do is nothing short of amazing. My dog struggled with boarding after being home so much with us during the pandemic (prior to the pandemic , he was fine), and Lisa personally made sure that everything was done to make sure he was comfortable and stress free. She emailed me letting me know how he was doing, and made sure his stay was successful. He made friends and had a good time. It allowed me to enjoy my vacation. I can’t say enough positive things about Top Notch.

Our dogs went for grooming.70 lb Goldendoodles.They came home looking great.Everyone there is very friendly and our boys didn't act traumatized like they normally do after grooming.Highly recommend

We have boarded our dog twice in Modesto with them and both times he comes out with no collar on when we pick him up. They also have him marked as no treats or extras both times which must be an ongoing miscommunication we thought we cleared up the first time but apparently did not. Both times he goes in freshly groomed and comes back smelling like dog urine, including his bed. My primary concern and why we won't be using this boarder again is because he has to stay in the cage all day except for potty breaks and a short, very short, period of 1:1 play which we pay extra for that isn't nearly enough for a healthy happy pup. The first time boarding him was prior to being neutered so I understand why he can't be with the group somewhat, however there should be enough supervision that this is possible or some other comparable accommodations or free play/roaming area. The second time they literally barred him from group play PERMENENTLY because he was mounting and "wouldn't take no for an answer" and removed his "suite's" mats because "he's a shredder." So now he has no activity, and minimal interaction, and he's acting out - obvious and predictable dog behavior. He's also obviously attempting to establish his place in the pack albeit in an undesirable way but 1, it was his very first time with the group, 2 they removed his collar which helps to calm him down, 3 no attempt at positive reinforcement for successful group play was made. It's his very first experience with the other dogs so he obviously needs some support to be shown the proper behavior not being barred at 18 months old from group interaction "for all future stays" due to mounting. It just shows a general lack of expertise and effort on their behalf, in addition to poor communication since we only find these things out upon pick up. It's like he's recovering for 2-3 days when he gets home after a 3 or 4 day stay and it's just too sad. We feel like irresponsible pet owners going from 2 walks a day and vigorous active play and exercise to this.. and we have to sanitize everything (including him) when he gets home. Their practices may be the most economical and easiest but they're not what's best for the animal. They are nice at the front desk, thougha dn we appreciate the report card. It's just not for us or our pooch.

They are so good with my difficult dog. A lot of groomers won't groom him because he can get aggressive. They are so patient and take their time with him so he feels safe and let's them make him handsome without getting scared.

I unfortunately had to move out of Modesto. My dog absolutely loved the girls there. She had been going since she was a puppy. After 4 years, we had to say goodbye. On her last day, all the girls had gotten a basket together of goodies, toys, clothes, magnetic pictures of my dog, and a card with all their warm wishes and goodbyes. I have the basket and i pull a new toy out every other week or have her wear a new piece of clothing. She smells the basket and remembers her friends there. I honestly was sadder about picking her up that last day her than I was about moving. I so truly appreciated everything they did for my little girl. Your dog would be in absolutely good hands with this establishment.

Absolutely the best place for grooming. Our 13-year-old border collie was groomed by Sam, and she did an amazing job 👏.The staff is so courteous, and all the groomers who have taken care of our girl have always done fantastic.I highly recommend Top Notch for your grooming needs for your pups!Wish I could get a better picture but she is camera shy . 🤭

My dog Max has had such a wonderful time meeting new dogs when he was boarded there two different times. Thou they haven't learned my dog doesn't need to be in the slow and steady group. He's very energetic. Needs to be in a group with more energy.

Came in here a week or so ago for more information about boarding my dog because they never answered the phone. Upon walking in, i was hit with a potent smell of urine. It just felt very dirty and off putting. I was also standing at the counter for awhile before ever being helped. Also, I over heard who I’m going to assume was the manager screaming at the employees. The whole place seems unprofessional. Dogs coming in even looked anxious. Skip this place and go somewhere else.

My dogs have been going to Top Notch’s boarding, grooming, and daycare for several years. They love it! ( Well not the toe nail clipping, but that’s not the groomers fault.🤣 They have such caring, patient, people. And if they need to clarify anything they will call you.I’m so glad they are in business.👍🏻❤️

We have had our dog for over 13 years. We have never left him overnight ever. We went on vacation and boarded him with this place for 7 nights. I was so worried and scared. The staff was above and beyond . They took such care and affection for my baby! I would recommend them highly!! My dog had a great time and we ready set a play date in the future for him!! Can't thank them enough!!

They were able to board my dog Alligator last minute, the staff was very friendly and greeted my pup with enthusiasm, they are also very reasonably priced! When I picked up Alligator the next day, she was very sad to leave, she whined in the car when we left, she NEVER whines about anything! Which tells me she had a wonderful time and absolutely enjoyed her stay, she was even a little depressed when she got home. I will be using them again, even for just a day stay, and I cant wait to use their grooming services as well.

The Modesto Location is our 2 German Shepard RIECHER and Kriegers happy place. However the TURLOCK location needs to have the an INSPECTION from the County for VIOLATIONS..When I picked up my German Shepherd Reicher they had moved him into solitary confinement calling this 2 feet wide by 3 feet long kennel with no windows a SLIDEDR Sweet.The staff did not inform us until picking him up they had trouble moving him.Of course they did, he had broken his shoulder earlier this year but that is not the worst of it. While staying at Too Knotch for just 2 day RIECHER contracted KENNEL COUGH.We rushed him over to Ripon Ver for emergency treatment. Yesterday my large puppy also so contracted the KENNEL COUGH..Apparently Too Knotch has its own strain of Kennel Cough.My puppy is struggling to breath and coughing up yellow phlegm.. I have owned 9 German shepherds and never once did any of them contract this.Do not take your dog there itis horrific results are catastrophic.

They are super easy to make reservations with them on the phone or online. The dogs love goibg there to stay and play. It costs a little more than other places but they take great care of my dogs. They are always tired and happy when I pick them up!

This is an updated review. Both my dogs recently stayed for a week and the service and care was outstanding, beyond what I had expected. Both of my dogs ended up with various medical 'needs' (at no fault of the kennel). The kennel can be a bit on the expensive side, but it was well worth the money.

the owner Lisa should change her name to Karen, because that’s what she is! a KAREN! she wouldn’t let my dog play with the other dogs because and i quote “it’s too ugly” who says that!! then she threatened to call the cops on ME for her mistreating my (NOT UGLY) dog. the audacity of this woman! Would give 0 stars if i could!

Not my area of expertise, but my family's dogs get the spa treatment here, treated quite well I must say. My wife's 6 lb terror is the warrior princess, the dog is pampered. My son's 80 lb hopelessly lovingly lethargic Great Pyrenees gets the attention of a rock star. The girls doing the work of cutting and caring are no less artisan's at their craft. Well done... High marks for the fur person spa.

I attempted to take my 10 week old golden doodle puppy to Top Notch’s puppy socialization classes. Over the course of five attempts over two weeks, I was successful only once. They kept inventing excuses why he couldn’t be part of the class - the most recent excuse, and the last straw for me, was that he had a scab on his nose (yes, you read that correctly). The scab was small and healing and falling off, but nope, he couldn’t play with other puppies or receive socialization because of a *scab*. They offered to move him into “one-on-one socialization with a trainer,” but we all know that’s code for “our intern will play with him.” Thanks, but I can do that at home without paying $30 a day.It seems the type of dog they’re looking for in these classes is a small indoor breed, not a rough and tumble puppy who likes to play outdoors and chew on sticks. That’s fine, but please tell me that up front and please don’t invent lame excuses.Regarding their other services, I have had a previous dog get injured in boarding and develop a nasty stomach bug. About a 50/50 success story with them overall with that dog.While overall they’re nice and friendly, be aware they’re not actually delivering what they’re selling, and value for the expense is quite low.If you must use their services, know what you’re getting yourself into. It’s a roll of the dice with them.

Beautiful facility!!! Everyone is very nice and they give you a report card of how your dog(s) are doing. I have 2 white dogs and they even put sunscreen on them when they noticed they got a little red from the sun. Definitely will be using Top Notch from now on.

My fiancé and I love our miniature schnauzer and lab/shepherd mix. We were traveling for a family wedding and our babies stayed at Top Notch Kennels. From when I called to ask for info to when we would call in between to check on the doggies, to when we picked them up, everyone was so helpful and pleasant!! They were organized and we felt like they took care of our babies. We loved their report card which came with them when we picked them up. It gave info on our dogs appetite and how they did each day!When our picky miniature schnauzer fusses with food, we were worried he wouldn't eat since he seems to not eat when we aren't around. Thankfully they even tried to transfer his food to another plate and place hot dogs around the rim just for the smell. He got a C that day LOL we thought that was hilarious but he got an A the next day. Our Lab/shepherd mix ate all her food so she got all A's😀If we come back to the Stockton area again we will be sure to come back!Could you guys add the option of sending photos for the Mommies and Daddies? We would love that! 😜 just a suggestion.Thanks again Top Notch Kennels!

This is the best place to kennel your dog, hands down [paws down?]. And if my dog could write this review, he'd agree. Appointments are needed far in advance for busy weekends as they fill up quickly.

Doggie Resort! Top Notch is the best all around. My Jellybean, a chihuahua, just loved her recent stay at the peewee cottage. The dogs are pampered like family and are happy there. She was fed and pampered just like she was at home.
