My family and I had a perfect stay in the garden suites! The garden suite made it so easy to let our dog out and had a beautiful view. The rooms and amenities are elegant, clean, thoughtfully decorated and stocked. The location is convenient and quiet, right between two great restaurants and a short walk from the town. The bed and bed sheets are unbelievably comfortable. The free coffee and pastry from a coffee shop a few doors down was also delicious! Thanks for allowing us to have a great time together in Mendocino!

I don't have enough good things to say about Nicholson House! We booked a last minute trip to Mendocino with our two dogs for the long weekend. Nicholson House is beautiful, the grounds are breathtaking and so thoughtfully designed. The room itself was a dream - I am so picky about hotel rooms and have to say this might be the nicest room I have ever stayed in. The room design was stunning, with amazing vintage pieces, stunning decor, and the most comfortable sheets I have ever slept on. We stayed in room #9, and we also appreciated that while there were other guests on the property, it felt very private and secluded, and was very peaceful and quiet.I really have to give a shout out to the team that runs the inn for how thoughtful the additions to the room were - they knew we had two dogs staying with us so they provided us with a large blanket and multiple towels and bowls to use for our dogs. They also provided extremely comfortable robes and slippers for the room, it felt like I was staying at a spa! To welcome you, they had a gorgeous tea and coffee station, chilled water, and some bourbon which was incredibly tasty. All of this, plus an incredibly heated floor bathroom with the hottest steam shower - it felt so good after rainy walks on the coast.Nicholson House also provides a voucher for a free morning beverage and pastry at The Waiting Room, which is right next door. Don't let the fact that it is free fool you - the coffee was fantastic, and the pastries were out of this world. I think the lemon cheddar scone took me to another planet.I will definitely be back to stay here, I can't recommend it enough. It was such a great visit, and it was one of the rare places where you and your pets will truly feel welcomed.

Woah! My stay at the NH in Mendocino was AMAZING! It was definitely the nicest place I have every stayed. The cleanliness, the attention to details within the room, (hello, heated bathroom floors!) as well as the walk-ability to everything in the village of Mendocino was PERFECT. I stayed in the Garden Suit 8 which is one of two pet friendly rooms available, and my dog absolutely enjoyed her stay too. (they supplied treats, bowls, and special dog blankets!) The check in process was seamless and easy, the stay was quiet and overall made for a great trip. I appreciated the easy accessibility, as well as the larger bath towels. The beds are also SO comfortable, you can definitely tell there is so much heart, and soul put into this place, down to the details on the door hinges! I am already planning my next trip for summer time & telling all my friends!Rooms: The rooms are GORGEOUS and perfectly thought out. Spacious, and comfortable. Open and not cluttered but features antique and vintage touches and modern spaciousness. The heated bathroom floors, comfortable beds, and the mini fridge were all treats. I also enjoyed the delicious tea and coffee available in the room. The garden pet friendly room is situated right in the garden, which has an amazing view and plenty of patio chairs/benches to enjoy.Nearby activities: Exploring the Mendocino Headlines about a mile walk from the Inn was such a treat!Safety: I felt very safe during the day & night.Walkability: Everything is so close by within the village of Mendocino! Downtown shops, art galleries, restaurants, parks, historic sites, and the beach!Food & drinks: So many great food and drink options nearby! I highly recommend 'the waiting room' (right next to the INN) for a morning latte and pastry!Noteworthy details: The details within the room are perfectly curated and so special.

Nicholson House is a place for those who appreciate customer service and quality over quantity. Our room was on the small size with some privacy issues but the service, the attention to detail and the quality of the product is outstanding. In addition to this it's location is close to places to eat, stores and the coast trails.I certainly recommend others to consider it for your lodging needs.

My husband and I stayed at the Nicholson house for 5 nights during our anniversary weekend! We loved every second of it. The house is decorated beautifully in Victorian style. The details are EVERYTHING. From the heated bathroom floors, comfy bedding, and tasteful decor, what’s not to love! I especially enjoyed the complimentary croissant and latte every morning of our stay from the waiting room next door! NH is also right in town so you’re walking distance from cute shops, restaurants, and the beach walking trails! If you’re visiting Mendocino, you have to stay here!

We spent 3 nights in one of their pet-friendly garden rooms and had the best time. The rooms had a great mix of modern amenities (heated floors) and period details (door hinges, drinkware, etc.). We’ve often struggled with finding comfortable and modern accommodations on the coast, specially ones that are also dog-friendly. But Nicholson was all that and more.Mendocino is small, but Nicholson is perfectly located next to some of the best food in town (Waiting Room, The Brickery and Beaujolais). We also ended up with walking from the hotel down to the beach and enjoyed many a sunrise and sunset.Check-in and check-out were easy and all virtual but not impersonal. We felt welcomed from the moment we opened the door. They had treats for our dog, towels, blankets and even doggy bowls). We truly cannot wait to return to Nicholson House and to Mendocino.

A perfect gem right in the heart of the village! The contactless checkin meant we could just go to our room and relax after our long drive, and the attention to detail meant the room had everything we needed and more. In the morning we got our complimentary coffee and pastry next door at the Waiting Room which was also beautiful, and the baristas were so friendly and helpful. They serve pizza in the garden which we had for lunch (try the pesto, it’s amazing) and if that’s not enough they have incredible fine dining at Cafe Beaujolais that is the perfect spot for a romantic dinner. Would highly recommend, we loved every minute of our stay!

I cannot say enough about how incredible Nicholson House is! Not a single detail was left out - from welcoming cookies and bourbon to fresh ice in the freezer and local gourmet offerings in the room. The pastries in the Waiting Room are to die for, and dinner by Chef Julian at Beaujolais never disappoints. I cannot wait to get back there!!!!

We had such a perfect experience at Nicholson House! The location was perfect, surrounded by restaurants and cafes. There were so many special touches and it was very easy to reach the manager if anything was needed. The hotel is beautiful with amazing furniture and luxury bathrooms. The bedding was so cozy. I would stay here over and over again.

We stayed here for our wedding weekend for three nights. NH was very charming, clean, and romantic. We had the comfiest bed, a little gas fireplace and a record player. Very thoughtful finishes and a cool vintage look and feel. The location is perfect: Surrounded by great restaurants: Luna, Beaujolais, Brickery and a spa. NH is also just a block from shopping and the ocean. The back of the house has a beautiful little garden: it was so serene, we decided to take a few wedding photos there!Thank you Mollie for the memorable stay, we will be back.Chef's Kiss!

Our weekend at the Nicholson House was amazing! The contactless check-in process was super smooth and the directions were very detailed, making it really easy for us. The room was immaculately clean and there were so many adorable touches in the room – welcome bourbon and cookies, locally made lotion and soap, etc. We loved being able to go over to the Waiting Room each morning for coffee and pastries and their happy hour is great too. It was the perfect location to be able to walk around town and there was plenty of street parking close by. I definitely recommend staying here!

Nicholson House is a gem. I can't wait to come back. We stayed 3 nights. Our room was lovely and they covered every detail with exquisite style and comfort. Perfect location on a quite street and 5 minute walk to the Mendocino headland and all the cute shops and restaurants.Food & drinks: Nicholson is next door to and owned by the owners of Cafe Beaujolais, which is the best restaurant in Mendocino.

Not only does Nicholson House pay incredible attention to detail; from the copper tea kettle, to the rich dark green tiled bathroom with radiant heat floors, the beds that feel like you’re sleeping on a cloud, to the unique antiques in every room… but also the delicious coffee and goodies at the Waiting Room next door… add to that, the great staff, the GM, Molly who is professional and thoughtful… as well as Peter, the high vibeing owner and his lovely wife, Melissa, you have yourself a 5+ 🌟 experience all the way!Thank you!!

Comfortably charmed!Happily taken care of by their online service/portal before check-in. Asked for early check-in and we're graciously granted it. Room had all our needs, and nicely to-boot, no TV. Freshly ground coffee, madeleine cookies... well sized bathroom. The restaurant attached is excellent and the waiting room coffee shop does the trick right-pat. Can't wait to come again.

Quaint boutique stay in Mendocino ~We enjoyed everything about the stay, with exception of the white towels. Inn keepers want to charge me $85.00 for make up on the towels. Beware anyone who wears makeupNoteworthy details: Watch out for the white towels

A beautiful inn in the heart of Mendocino. We were lulled to sleep and awoken in the morning by the sound of the surf. The room was so luxuriously appointedthat we didn't even mind the rough patch of weather we experienced in Mendocino. Then innkeepers could not have been more accommodating or responsive to our requests. We will definitely be visiting again!

Very good breakfast. Friendly and helpful staff. Clean rooms with comfy beds, though the decor is a little shabby. The best feature of the property is that it's part of the Sweetwater Eco Spa, so guests have use of a clothing-optional hot-tub in a tiny secret garden.. it feels very "Mendocino"..

Stayed for 2 nights in March, decided to stay in the Nicholson as it looked nice, and had a good rate. Arrived to find a lovely lady explaining all the details, and was very helpful. Room was nice and spacious, no TVs or phones which was great, but did provide WiFi which has was great. Breakfast was great, had some home made granola and some egg omlette things. Mendocino was quiet, but a few things to do with a great coastline. Would recommend to anyone and definitely stay again.

Great B&B stayed one night May 27, 2015. Quiet, clean, good breakfast in the morning worth the wait. Brent was very friendly and makes some great scones. There was only one other room occupied so I didn't hear any noise. Would stay here anytime I'm in Mendocino.

Great location right next door to our favorite restaurant in Mendo. Super friendly staff and good breakfast. Rooms aren't too fancy but are very well appointed and the beds are comfortable. Plus you get spa passes to the redwood tubs and sauna next door. We'll be back for sure.

Good atmosphere, clean room, and good breakfast. It's a small room but that is what we signed up for. The very comfortable bed and quite neighborhood makes it a great place to get a good night's sleep and prepare for the next day out and about. A sunset view of the ocean can be found right down the street and their are plenty of local shops and restaurants you can easily walk to.

We have been to many 5 star Hotels, but they could come here and learn a thing or two! They went overboard to make sure your visit is nothing short of a 1st Class experience.Food & drinks: The evening was caped off with an amazing dining experience at Cafe Beaujolais.

Cosy little Inn close to everything in Mendocino. We stayed for two nights in March, room was very comfortable and warm. Breakfast is served each morning and was very tasty. Staff was also very friendly throughout our stay. We made use of the hot tub at the spa next door and loved that it was outside.

We stayed for two nights at the nicholson house inn. We booked it via air bnb. The room was spacious and comfortable. The complimentary breakfast was delicious. We enjoyed a soak in the sweetwater spa next door, although we skipped the free access to the clothing optional community tub and opted for a private tub which was not complimentary. The location was great, eith many wonderful natural sights within a short drive. We would definitely stay here again.
