This place is the best kept secret in McKinleyville. Due to its location a short distance of Central Ave down Sutter. I feel like lots of people either don't know about Thomas Home Center or don't think about it as often since it's not a place everyone drives by on a daily basis. They've been in business for decades they've got a great selection and provide helpful customer service. Plus 9 times out of 10 they're going to have a better price than the other competition in town. I feel good whenever shopping there knowing my money is going to a great local company that provides quality products and good service. I recommend anyone checking out Thomas next time their in need of home improvement supplies.

Our project was challenging on so many levels, but salesman Tom held it all together and got it done within the time frame we were hoping for. New doors and new door casing throughout the house are a big improvement. A skilled and professional installation crew made everything just right. Purchase about 20' of 2x4 for a project and noticed they we're a little wet when loading. Was in a rush and didn't check them thoroughly. Upon getting home I noticed that they are pretty soaked and the undersides are ridden with mold. Call back early next morning to see if they could exchange just the Moldy pieces for the lumber I intended to purchase and was told "No"I explained the situation again emphasizing that I try not to be a bother at the time and thought I can salvage them at home with a de-hum. I received the same "No"Like c'mon. You really think when customers ask for lumber they should specify non-wet / moldy pieces?I think even Home Depots corporate policy is more forgiving.Usually supper happy with this place. Last interaction was my first unpleasant time.

Very nice helpful employees. Shopping for Shepherd casters, have been to many stores but Thomas Home actually had some. I was happy until this morning.... the threads are not correct!!! Oh well, back to the drawing board. The reasons for the few stars is that the prices are very high. I know this is the way things are today but I now really miss K-Mart. Wistfully my apologies.

My wife and I used Thomas Home Center to remodel our kitchen. We were not too organized on what we wanted from the project. Tom Rector, with great patience and good advice, worked with us until we decided on a plan that my wife and I were very happy with. The planning was a positive experience for the both of us. The work was executed with skill and attention to detail. We now have a spacious, well lit, beautiful new kitchen. Thomas Home Center was great about meeting their deadlines and everybody we were in contact with during the project were competent, friendly, and a pleasure to work with.

Tom Rector of Thomas Home Center is a true professional.  This is the second time my brother and I have worked with Tom on our property in Eureka.2012 - My brother and had bitten off more than we could handle in rehabbing our Eureka property.  We contacted Tom Rector and he and his crew stepped in to complete the project that we had begun.  He was on time and within budgeted estimates. Tom is very efficient and easy to work with. Now 2021 - We are finally selling the property and a number of issues regarding Fungus, Rot and Pest infestation were uncovered in the termite report  produced for our buyer.  We contacted Tom to assist us on the project.  Even though he is very busy he visited the property and gave us his estimates and his opinion of project size.  Ultimately, he suggested the strategy that allowed us to close the sale within the 30 day escrow period without handling all the repairs ourselves.  I wholeheartedly recommend Tom without reservation and would work with him again any time.

February 2022Thomas Home CenterMcKinleyvilleMy wife and I are both in our mid seventies and needed to upgrade ourbathroom for safety and convenience. We contacted four contractors total, one never showed up for our appointment and did not return our calls. The other three made appointments and kept them. One never gave us an estimate, that left two, Thomas Home Center and a independent. The estimates where no where near close for the same work, Thomas Home Center was way less expensive, has a large experienced crew with greatratings and reviews. We went with Thomas Home Center, the job was thoroughly explained and permitted. We did a tub to shower conversion, which included a Moen adjustable height hand held shower head, Moen on-off water valve, Moen fold down shower seat rated at 400 pounds, grab bars and a new exhaust fan. We were given a time frame and a cost amount. The job was completed on time and on budget. The communication with the owner Tom Rector and his staff Brittny was timely and excellent. The construction crew were very experienced, clean and on time. Our home was kept clean at all times. The shower looks great and functions perfectly. In today's environment one could not ask for more. We would highly recommend Thomas Home Center, Tom Rector, Brittny and the crew.

When looking to proceed with a truss project and planning to have Thomas Home Center as a possible candidate to do this complicated truss package, I couldn't be more disappointed or seen the lack of customer service. To hear that this company backed out last minute after several correspondence were made to show they were on track with the design, all the way to sending calculations. I would highly not recommend anyone do business or have any confidence in their work or promises. The manager of the truss department changed his story several times. To far to travel, to complicated, you changed the plans were all his excuse, I was on the phone when you called.. i was distracted etc... list goes on..I know ill be taking my business elsewhere.

Thomas Home Center did an excellent job on our bathroom remodel! They were prompt calling me back and scheduling a time to assess the project. Tom was very easy to work with and extremely helpful in offering suggestions and advice. We definitely recommend him and his team !

Tom came into our inefficient, wonky kitchen and brought us great ideas for creating a highly functioning and spacious kitchen. Our kitchen is now not only incredibly efficient but it's also really beautiful. His crew did excellent work and was easy to talk to when we had questions. When there were questions or concerns during construction Tom always answered my calls and often just came over to take a look or explain things to us, even though it was in the evening. And Tom and his crew made sure the project was done right on time which was really nice because every day without a functioning kitchen is tough.

We worked with T.H.C. and Tom Rector in Aug. of 2016 to replace worn kitchen counters and to install a new stainless steel kitchen sink in our property in Arcata.Tom was great to work with, providing clear and concise communications throughout the process, and the rest of the staff we dealt with were also very good with communication and customer service - calls were returned, documents emailed, etc. We were able to order all materials including the sink through THC and their True Value hardware store with delivery to the THC shop, which made things very convenient. The True Value order confirmation, order tracking & order delivery notifications kept us informed and confident that things were on track.The THC contractor who did the install was able to remove and replace two counters, kitchen sink and new drain lines in one day, and did a great job, including site clean up and haul off of old counters. No hesitation recommending Tom Rector and Thomas Home Center for "one-stop" project completion!

We have used Thomas Home Center for several remodeling jobs as well as an addition on our home. They have been very responsive, fair and always do a great job. Any problems or concerns that arise are followed up on quickly. I would recommend them for home improvements and repairs.

I asked what glue would work with Styrofoam, and what they recommended ruined my sheet of foam. When I went in there to inform them, the reaction by the person who suggested the item to me said "oh wow, Ill tell my manager". And proceeded to give me a whopping discount of $0.69 on a $9.86 purchase for new glue to replace the bad stuff that was suggested which was originally $7 approx. and the $14 sheet of Styrofoam, as well as the gas to south Eureka to purchase it, I am out much more than their grand offering of $0.69. So No I would not recommend going there. And if you do, don't believe a word you hear.

Tom and his crew offered everything you could hope for in a home project. They did what they said they would do. They did it when they said they would (and we were in rush situation running up to the holidays so that meant even more in this case). They did it for the price they said they would. That would be MORE than enough - but they were friendly, explained everything as they went, and cleaned up the work site above and beyond. Doesn't get better than that.

The Thomas Home Center crew did a brilliant job remodeling our kitchen. They worked with us throughout the design and build process, giving us good advice about component choices (e.g., sink, cooktop, range hood). They were all very professional, courteous, prompt; and were willing to work around our schedules to gain access to the house. We will definitely hire them for future projects.

Thomas Home Center Mck has really improved the past couple of years. Store layout is clear and logical, easy to find stuff. Not the greatest selection of building material but that's what The Mill Yard is for.

Prices are very expensive typically 50% higher than any other hardware store in the area. Sometimes they will ring you up prices that are higher than they have listed on the shelves.

Not good with ordering parts for you . They tell you it will come in on Tuesday or Wednesday but dont know why its not there by Thursday and dont know when it will come in. You should order enough for a stock if you have a place on the shelf that says you sale the part.Point blank.

This used to be my favorite hardware store until my husband overheard the "manager" degrading one of the employees. I hope that this "manager" will get the message that poor treatment of employees (or customers) could affect the business.
