We have taken both of our dogs (a 3 yo staffie and a 10 yo border collie mix) to McKinleyville Animal Care, and we’ve been very pleased with the services and care.The staff are very friendly and professional, and the vet we’ve seen has been extremely thorough, knowledgeable, and trustworthy. She has always been able to answer all our questions and give great care advice and direction for us to navigate our let’s health issues and needs.I absolutely recommend you check them out should you need per medical care!

We had numerous unpleasant experiences at another vet (Sunny Brea) in the area so much so that we were willing to risk going to another vet we were unfamiliar with when we needed an emergency visit when we realized our dog was suffering from something. Thankfully we made the right choice! Everyone I interacted with was kind, respectful, supportive & helpful. The doctor and vet tech was extremely thorough & communicative during the entirety of the visit. They answered every question and was very informative despite their busy schedules. They weren’t condescending & didn’t make me feel like I was an inconvenience. They also wanted the experience to be the least invasive and most comfortable for my pet while being the most cost efficient for me to figure out what was going on. I truly believe they properly diagnosed & treated my pet which was very important to feel since the previous vet had diminished my confidence in competency before. We believe Noodle is on the road to recovery thanks to this incredible staff! We finally feel like we’ve found a vet we trust & look forward to being a part of this pack that will truly care about our dogs over the money they make.Thank you from us & our Noodle boy.

Been coming here for years now and can confidently say I wouldn't want to take my pets anywhere else, the staff here are wonderful and very trustworthy people. On my recent visit the power went out halfway into our visit (extremely stormy day), and instead of sending me out and rescheduling the vet came in with a headlamp and continued my cats physical no problem. Highly recommend this place!

They’re (techs not reception) are so mean to me and my dog half the time. I’m nice and I never say anything and just deal with it but it really sucks and is upsetting to me. I worked with dogs in a kennel and vet environment and to be irritated at a DOG is just silly— they’re like kids— they’ll just be more stubborn the meaner you are to them. It really bums me out to be treated badly and I would go somewhere else if there were somewhere else to go. My dog isn’t even a aggro biter dog— she’s more like a screaming greased pig.A pro tip from someone who worked in a kennel environment for years: your job will be more difficult with a bad attitude; dogs sense that bad vibe before they even meet you. Also: the client is the dog AND the person— if you’re not good with one of the two then maybe it’s not the job for you.I’m curious about these reviews. Are the reviews fake or are they only mean to me & my dog? And also why?

Dr. Stegmeier is hands down the BEST vet at Animal Care Center! Quality care and patience with our huskies. Going to the vet isn’t usually pleasant for the dogs and having a vet that doesn’t make them feel rushed makes all the difference. Highly recommend him!

This vet clinic is the best. After being turned away from 6 other clinics in the surrounding area this office was the only one willing to help us out. We are visiting from out of state and our dog got sick. The office staff, manager and doctor were all kind and professional.

Running a Veterinary Clinic is incredibly hard. No place will always be able to make everyone healthy or happy. But for many years now these people have always done their best by us. Good times and bad they have always tried. They have also lost some great vets, but still retain some excellent ones.

I would caution anyone against taking your pets to this vet. I had an appointment scheduled for 2 months and the day of the appointment they canceled it. Left a message. Apparently they did not call the correct number to cancel. I went with my cat to the appointment and they were ticked off at me for not knowing it was canceled.i updated my number and still they send reminders to the old number. So I went to Myrtle town vet and got my cat an appointment. Turns out my cat has a heart murmur that McKinleyville animal care center failed to diagnose. I am happy they screwed up my appointment because I finally saw a good vet who actually listened to my cats heart. Avoid this vet if you can. Poor management and I don’t think the vets they hire are very good.

WARNING: This facility over-charges for service on Sunday, not just the price to see your animal, but everything they can. I'd avoid this place.reply toMAC manager :I've managed facilities and staff before, and I recognize when actions are driven by greed. There's no additional cost on Sundays – no extra pay for staff, no increased electricity expenses. Charging $100 or more on top of regular fees, especially for services like X-rays, seems unjustified. Other services don't differentiate Sundays, and you don't even pay overtime to your staff on that day. This feels like an attempt to pad pockets rather than a fair practice. I won't be returning to your facility, as my $275 payment revealed no added value and only highlighted what seems like a profit-driven approach. It's disheartening to think that the well-being of animals might be overshadowed by financial gains.You did nothing for the money I paid.

I am really thankful for everyone at MACC, my babies are always well taken care of, which means so much to me ❤️ The doctor calls and makes sure I am aware of all my cats needs and the cost before proceeding. Also, I call in at 8am and I’m able to get a same day appointment, each time I’ve tried! I can’t thank you all enough for taking care of my little loves and calming my nerves when I get myself worried over these little guys. Everyone here is great! Thank you again!!

I can not thank these vets and vet tech's enough for their hard work, love and compassion towards and for pets and their human families. They helped us save our puppy when no where else in Humboldt would. My entire family can not thank their entire staff enough for the things they've done for our pets. Baby Hims is my daughter's dogs name and he thanks you too. ❤🐾🐶🐾❤

Brought our sick cat in who was very lethargic and drooling. While we were there the power went out, employees seemed in a hurry to get us out of there. Sent us home with charcoal supplements and said it should be fine. Two days later and our cat passed away. And we had been following the instructions they gave us. He was not thoroughly checked out and I believe if he had been he could have been saved.

We woke the day after Thanksgiving to find our outwardly healthy elderly cat dying from renal failure. We called in despair to MACC not knowing how much time she had or if she was in pain.They fit us in though their day was fully scheduled day.After determining that she was indeed in discomfort, we had her humanely euthanized then and there.MACC vet and staff were very compassionate and caring throughout the process which we attended in fully. (Personal note: I feel it our duty to stay until the end and comfort our loved ones as they did so faithfully for us.)They brought Moira out in a box with lovely white flowers attached. Yeah, I lost it. It was a beautifully poignant act that meant a lot.We are still in shock at the suddenness of losing her but have had enough companions over the years to know that prolonging death is not the same as doing what is in the best interest of your loved one.We have no regrets in going to MACC, they gave us exactly what we needed, when we needed it.We thank MACC from the bottom of our hearts.

My last visit to this Vets office was excruciating as we put out little 14 year old baby down. They were so kind and gentle to my pup and the rest of the family as we all were with her until she passed. After checking our babies heart for a beat the words of the Vet were very sweet as well as kind yet have haunted me since. "She just got her wing's"

Did a C-section paid $1700.(06) months later went in for another one and because I didn’t have $2500 cash deposit they turned my dog away who was in distress horrible place to double the cost and not care for the animal before there money is a disgrace The estimate I received was 28 to 3300 I was told I had to have 2500 cash deposit or to take my dog and leave I go to church and it’s not ok to lie on the response you just have that’s sad GOD SEES ALL THE RESPONSE IS COMPLETE LIE SHAME ON YOU if ur the owner

I received excellent service from the staff as soon as I placed the call for my cat's first appointment - amazingly, they had an open appointment that day (on a Saturday)! I was treated courteously and professionally every step of the way, from the front desk staff person who made my appointment and the woman who checked me in when I arrived to the vet tech and the veterinarian. Everyone was calm and kind, and the vet tech and veterinarian were very thorough; I believe they truly cared about the health of my cat as well as my satisfaction with the Center. I even got a call less than a week later by a staff member checking up on the cat. I appreciated my experience very much, and will be sure to return.

I have had really good interactions with all the staff here. Dr. Steigmeyer is fantastic! He really cares for your fur baby. He's taken time to get to know and befriend my overly protective small fur baby. She genuinely likes him. The other Dr's are good too. The only issue is that it takes a long time for an appointment. It's been like this since the pandemic hit. Really great clinic though.

We have been bringing our pups here for over 3 years. Although covid has made them a curbside pickup and delivery for your puppies and kitties, the staff is still very friendly and very courteous. We have four chihuahuas, and they all love going to see the staff here, and the feeling of the staff is mutual, they love seeing our puppies there. We have one Chihuahua that is not the friendliest of puppies, but these guys think that he is absolutely the sweetest little guy in the world so that tells me that they are very caring and loving with the animals if our very picky Chihuahua like these guys. I would highly recommend them for all of your veterinary needs.
